HorseTales
Mustang-themed pinball game debuts in Chicago
Believe it or not, but new pinball machines are still being made. Chicago-based Stern
Pinball still makes them and has found a niche selling modern machines to individual
buyers and arcade distributors. For its latest cabinet, Stern partnered with Ford to
create a pinball game that pays homage to the 50th anniversary of the Mustang,
including the next generation. The new machine is being unveiled at the Chicago Auto
Show on February 6 and goes on sale in March.
Stern is offering the machine in three variants. The pro-level machine is meant for
arcades and public spaces and retails for $4,995. All of them come with background
and cabinet art by Camilo Pardo, who designed the Ford GT, and Top Gear USA host
Tanner Foust is the game's announcer. Depending on where players shoot the ball, they
activate events that simulate drag racing, rallying, drifting and racing the Mustang, and
hitting targets lets players shift the gears up and down.
An upgraded, premium table with added art will be added later for pinball machine
collectors. The third model is a signed, special edition with art of the 1965 Mustang
and 2015 Mustang on the machine and chrome and Mustang badges on the speaker
grilles. Prices for these editions will be announced later.
It is probably hard to remember the last time you saw a pinball machine, let alone
played one, but check out the machine in action and read the complete press release
about it at the following link: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/02/07/ford-mustang-pinball-machine-video-chicago-2014/

MARCH 2014
MARCH’S MESSAGE - FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello DMC Members,
Hope everyone is having a good year so far. It is
time to get the ponies ready for some spring
and summer fun. March is dues renewal month
so do not forget to pay your dues if you want to
keep getting the DMC newsletter and club
updates. If you cannot make it to the March
meeting to pay your dues, you can mail them in.
We are also starting to look for volunteers to
help with the WWAF car show this year. I know it
seems early to start looking for volunteers for
WWAF car show but it is very important that we
get all of the help that we can to keep this as
one of the best car shows in the state. I would
like to thank everyone in advance who is always
stepping up to help out with all of the events
that we do through the year. We also need
volunteers to help out with RMMR. We have 2
special events to attend in April for the
Mustangs 50th birthday. There is the
celebration in Las Vegas that Ron Fox is
coordinating and I will be working with Phil
Long on a 3 day celebration April 17th through
19th. The Board is working on a lot of fun
things this year so get the ponies ready.
The Denver Auto show is April 9th through April
13th at the Colorado Convention Center.
Please bring all of your ideas to the upcoming
March meeting, Friday 3/14th at 7:00 PM at Phil
Long Ford.
Hope to see you there!

Shelby begins production at their new Las Vegas facility
Last summer Shelby announced that it would be opening a new production facility in Las
Vegas, NV. The company’s headquarters were already in Sin City, but the new 135,000
square foot facility is now located in a prime location near the famous “Strip” and
McCarran airport. Production has begun at the new location, with the initial car off the
line being a 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake. The car is staying within the company, and
the Grabber Blue Super Snake, chassis #14SS0010, was immediately delivered to the new
Shelby Automotive Museum in Southern California. Established by Carroll Shelby, the
Shelby Automotive Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to educate the
public about the auto industry, generally, and more specifically, the high performance cars
created and built by Shelby American since 1962. From the first Cobra (CSX2000) to the
current generation Shelby’s, the museum will reflect America’s spirit of competition by
chronicling Carroll Shelby and the machines he inspired.
