April Events
Fayettenam
Thursday, April 14th, 7:30pm
“Fayettenam” invokes the echoes of ancestors to understand the fragmented realities that created the conditions of our
nation. It explores American transience/American Conscience, water, early settlement, ghosts in the mountain and Johnny
Appleseed. Performed by Carpetbag Brigade director Jay Ruby, “Fayettenam” brings the past to the the present so we can
reflect on the wounds and wisdom we have inherited from the actions of those who came before us. Using text, song and
action this piece of physical theater provokes one to think about the land they are walking on and what may be under the
layers of its history.
The Circle Way - a Permaculture of the Heart
A talk by Manitonquat (Medicine Story) and Ellika Linden
Saturday, April 16, 7:00pm
Manitonquat (Medicine Story) is a Wampanoag elder, philosopher, storyteller, poet and lecturer, and a keeper of the lore
of the Assonet Band of the Wampanoag Nation of Massachusetts. He develops tools for creating a more humane society
based on teachings of the elders of the First Nations and the explorations of his camps. The Circle Way derives from
the traditional wisdom of native elders throughout North America and their instructions to Manitonquat to make their
knowledge known to the world. It is about connection. It is about relationship—to ourselves, our families, our work, our
goals and dreams, to the Earth and all life, and to the cosmic drama of which we are all a part.
Driftless Area Permaculture Social
