In 1889, the electric lights of the Mabel Tainter Memorial illuminated
MTG is Menomonie’s oldest community theater organization. Founded in part to restore the Mabel Tainter after a many-year closure, MTG has been instrumental in uniting actors, directors, musicians, dancers, costumers, makeup artists, lighting and sound designers, set builders, properties managers, stage managers, and a score of other creative minds for 57 years. Shows are prepared and tickets sold at MTG Studio. It is the mission of the Menomonie Theater Guild, Inc. to produce plays for community enjoyment, to provide dramatic recreation for its participants and to perpetuate and extend the ideals and objectives of community theater. This organization will also encourage the preservation of the Mabel Tainter Memorial building as an historic, authentic, and cultural community. 205 Main Street East Menomonie, WI 54751 In 1889, the electric lights of the Mabel Tainter Memorial illuminated the Wisconsin landscape, and for more than a century its stage has ignited the imaginations of artists and audiences in the Chippewa Valley. Ranked among the “15 Most Spectacular Theaters in the World” by CNN Travel, this Victorian jewel-box is sure to enchant you and your family. A wonderful season of exciting theater is about to begin! Menomonie Theater Guild is working hard to build our financial foundation. WE NEED YOU! Please consider a first time, or an increased donation to help us this season. MTG Membership and voting privileges are included with your membership contribution. With a strengthened leadership team, improved facilities, and a community of dedicated artists, MTG looks forward to sharing a magical 57th season! MTG is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. All contributions are tax deductible. We would love to have you join our team of volunteers! We need a variety of help with ushering, set building, set painting, costuming, props, concessions, house management, and building maintenance. For more information, please contact LeAnne Talberg at mtgvolunteer1@gmail.com Throughout the previous season, MTG was host to many community events, including a Halloween Party, the Health and Wellness Fair at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and the Color Dash 5K run/walk, which raised funds for our organization! To become part of the MTG family is to become part of our vibrant community. Next to Normal is a rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. Its story concerns a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness and the attempts to alleviate it have on her family. The musical also addresses issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life. 2:00pm Performance Dates: October 16,17,23 & 24 –7:30pm; October 17, 18, 24 & 25– 2:00pm 7:30pm T W Th F Sa 16 17 18 23 24 Audition Dates: August 10th & 11th 6:30-8:30pm at the Menomonie Theater Guild Studio Director: Melissa Smith-Tourville Director Contact: melsmithtourville@gmail.com 25 T W Th F Sa 4 6 All the hot gamblers are in town, and they’re depending on Nathan Detriot to set up this week’s incarnation of “The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York”; the only problem is, he needs $1000 to get the place.
