The main focus of the module falls on the practical abilities that students will be able to utilise in the business environment. Business Law (LWBL111) Module description Business Law is aimed at providing the student with an overview of the legal position in South Africa with reference to the sources, relating to general contractual terms, breach of contract and termination of a contract will be examined in this module. Business Management 1A (COBM111) Module description All the business elements that relate to the business environment are dealt with in this module. These include planning, organising, leading and controlling. Quantitative Techniques (COQT111) Module description This module sets the statistical scene by presenting an introduction to statistical techniques and experimental design as applied to commercial problems. Emphasis is placed on exploratory data analysis - using various descriptive statistical techniques; on the foundation of statistical inference - using basic probability theory and sampling; on making statistical inferences linear regression, correlation, index numbers and time series. Level 2 Accounting on Computers (COAC221) Module description The course teaches students the basics of computerised accounting. The PASTEL Accounting package is used to illustrate the basics of a computerised accounting product. Auditing 2A Module description Auditing deals with the underlying principles of independent audit practice. These principles are applied to the acquisition of audit evidence by means of logical and organised procedures. Audit evidence is also acquired through objective assessment, and collected in order to ents. Students will have the ability to audit, design, and develop an internal control system that complies with generally accepted auditing practice (GAAP). In addition, students will develop the ability to identify potential weaknesses in an internal control system and provide recommendations. Corporate Governance (COCG321) Module description Corporate governance is one of the most important challenges for organisations in South Africa. This module will highlight real-life events, cover legislation and recommendations, and culminate in a discussion on ethics in the workplace.
