Eye on St. Lucie
Host: Kerry Padrick, SLPS Chief Communications Officer
September is a two-part Eye On St. Lucie program. First, the show focuses on an exciting
new teaching and learning tool to enhance educational experiences and engage
students in STEM-related curriculum. This digital tool known as zSpace is energizing
classrooms across the nation. CTE Director Michael Carbenia talks about its uses and
expectations to support student achievement. In segment two, Dr. Kevin Perry shines
light on a statewide event known as Dads Take Your Child to School Day. He will discuss
how dads and male care givers can become more involved in their students’ lives.

Notebook
Host: Jane Whitaker
The holidays can be a challenging time for some families here in our community. There
are many organizations throughout our area that are here to provide assistance and
support, not only during the holiday season, but year round as well. Our guests for this
edition of Notebook, include Cathie Mouring, Executive Director of Grace Way Village
and Chris Morhardt, Board Member and Director of Programs. Don’t miss this opportunity
to find out what programs are available and how you might help families in need here on
the Treasure Coast.
University of Florida / IFAS
Host: Ken Gioeli, UF/IFAS Natural Resources Extension Agent
The UF/IFAS St Lucie County Extension office will be presenting Sea Turtle Friendly Beaches
in St Lucie County. This presentation will be conducted by Ken Gioeli, UF/IFAS Natural
Resources Extension Agent for St Lucie County, and his guest, Joe Scarola, Biologist with
Ecological Associates. Ken works with residents to teach them about the threatened
and endangered sea turtle species nesting on St Lucie County’s beaches. Both Ken and
Joe work with coastal residents to teach them how to comply with reduced lighting
requirements during sea turtle nesting season (March 1 – November 15).
School Report
School report is a weekly glimpse into a wide variety of campus activities. School report
is another method used that allows the members of our community to experience the
great things that are happening every day on our many campuses throughout St. Lucie
County. School Report is another method used by the St. Lucie Education Channel (WLX
– TV) to Enhance, Engage and Enlighten. This week on School Report:
Lights on After School
St. Lucie Public Schools along with community partners such as the City of Ft. Pierce, St.
Lucie County, and the City of Port St. Lucie came together to make this event a success.
Mrs. Kimberly Roberts and Mr. Terrance Platt are the organizers of Light on After School for
St. Lucie County. This year’s event took place at the Ft. Pierce Fenn Center and the Port
St. Lucie Community Center. Tune in and enjoy a glimpse of the activities that took place
at both locations.
Foundation Focus
Host: Thom Jones, President of Education Foundation
Foundation Focus previews the activities of the St. Lucie
County Education Foundation, the only 501 c 3 not
for profit organization chartered exclusively to support
public K-12 education. This segment will announce the
annual Teacher Grant Awards. Each year the Education
Foundation awards grants for teachers, schools and the
district for programs that enhance K-12 education. Our
guest is Kerry Padrick, Chief Communications Officer
for St Lucie Public Schools and a member of the grant
committee.

Spotlight on the Arts
Host: Dr. Kevin Perry
The Spotlight” brings you the best Education
and Entertainment information by the Arts
programs in St. Lucie Public Schools. Dr. Perry
will sit down with Jane Whitaker, Coordinator
of Professional Development, to discuss
the Professional Development activities
for Arts teachers and Kerry Padrick, Chief
Communications Officer and Johnathan
Ferguson, Executive Director of Legal Services to
discuss the Visual Arts projects SLPS students are
involved in.
Live United
Host: Karen Knapp, CEO United Way
Segment 1
Sydney Liebman and Sandee Allen will
share with us about HANDS- provides
primary healthcare services and access to
a continuum of healthcare to qualified lowincome, uninsured, adult residents of St. Lucie
County, as well as an Adult Dental Clinic,
vision care, mental health assistance, patient
prescription program and health education.
Segment 2
Jill Borowicz, ED and Mitch Kloorfain will be joining us to talk about SafeSpace which
provides temporary shelter available on the Treasure Coast for victims of domestic
violence and their children. Outreach includes advocacy, counseling and training, public
information and education about societal myths and traditional role stereotyping.

Fort Pierce Westwood & DanMcCarty Middle School
The Speaker at Weswood High's Spekaers Bureau program this week was Assistant
Principal Joseph Lezeau. The Speker at Dan McCarty Middle School was Dr. Donna Mills.

the lV Annual STEAM Rap Battle. This year we have
more schools competing for the title. Students are
learning about science, technology, engineer and
math via arts through rapping.
