(April 21May 21)
It is important that you approach
the day in a lighthearted manner
because that will make it easier to
deal with the huge responsibilities
now coming your way. Don't take
what you have to do too seriously
just get on with it and keep smiling.
` GEMINI
(May 22June 21)
There is excitement in the air at
the moment you can feel that
something special is going to

bring new opportunities your

to make something of them.

Daily Horoscope
How can you make your home
life more enjoyable? One way is
to put work matters to the back
of your mind and focus on family
to the exclusion of everything
else. Making a profit is okay but
making loved ones happy is
priceless.
b LEO
(July 24Aug. 23)
No matter how busy the past few
weeks have been and no matter
how desperately you need time
to recover this is going to be an
active day. Keep the momentum
going, because once you slow
down you will find it hard to
speed up again.

FURNISHED ROOMS
You are advised not to make any
sudden changes over the next 24
hours because if you do you will
only have to change them back
again later on. Things may look
bad at the moment but they are
not nearly as bad as they seem.
d LIBRA
(Sept. 24Oct. 23)
You will be rather excitable today
and the smallest thing will set you
off. You won't know yourself which
way you are going to jump next, so
don't be surprised if others, even
those you are closest to
emotionally, stay out of your way.
e SCORPIO
(Oct. 24Nov. 22)
Whatever else you do today, don't
panic. Your life is NOT falling apart
you are just looking at things from
too negative an angle. You may be a
bit down at the moment but later
on your mood and your viewpoint
will be more positive.
f SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 23 Dec. 21)
Friends will surprise and delight
you with sudden invitations and
suggestions for having a good
time, so don't plan your schedule
in too much detail. Where your
social life is concerned you must
be ready to drop whatever you
are doing and party.
g CAPRICORN
(Dec. 22 Jan. 20)
Make the most of today's positive
influences to impress employers
and other important people. You
have the happy knack of knowing
the right thing to say, in the right
way at the right time, and it won't
be long before others are trying
to impress you.
BIRTHDAY THURSDAY
Do you follow your heart or
do you follow the money?
Only you can decide but
most likely you are wise
enough to realize that if you
put your emotional needs
first your financial needs will
take care of themselves. It
rarely works the other way
around.

Consistency the goal
for new NYCFC coach
By MATT FALZONE
Patrick Vieira has
worked for some of the
greatest skippers in Eu
rope, but doesn’t expect
he will be anything like
Arsene Wenger or Jose
Mourinho as he takes
charge of New York City
FC’s second season.
“The most important
thing for me here is to
have an identity for the
team ... not to imitate an
other coach,” the former
Arsenal captain and
French international said
at his official announce
ment on Wednesday.
The team trotted out
its second manager in as
many seasons. Vieira
takes at the helm after
Jason Kreis was shown
the door at the end of the
expansion club’s incon
sistent and ultimately
disappointing first sea
son.
“It’s important to have
a great leader, someone
who commands re
spect,” sporting director
Claudio Reyna said, re
peatedly referencing the
new coach’s confidence.
“We needed a person
ality that could lead, that
could take the pressure.
... [Patrick has] the abil
ity to communicate with
big players who’ve
played at the highest
level as well as a com
mitment to developing
younger ones.”
It was the lack of con
sistency that played a big
role in NYCFC missing
the playoffs, despite a
stellar campaign from
striker David Villa. With
the arguably late sum
mertime arrivals of
Frank Lampard and An
drea Pirlo, Kreis’ team
couldn’t settle on a con
sistent shape or a consis
tent eleven.
Though it’s his first
real job at the helm of a
senior
club,
Vieira
doesn’t seem worried his
predecessor wasn’t given
a lot of time to succeed.
It could be said,
though, that Vieira al
ready had a positive im
pact on the fledgling
club.
He’s fresh off two
years in charge of the
highly regarded Elite De
velopment Squad at NY
CFC
parent
club
Manchester City, which
sent both Shay Facey
and Angelino to The
Bronx on loan last sea
son.
With seemingly little
effort, the pair turned
into the brightest stars in
the team’s back line.
That’s a relationship
that seems beneficial to
both clubs and is likely
to continue, but Reyna
spoke cautiously.
“We’re focusing on
shaping the squad with
out using a Manchester
City loan player,” Reyna
said. “But that’s not to
say that we may not have
one join us ... toward the
end of the preseason. ”
Obviously improve
ment on last year’s
eighthplace finish in the
Eastern Conference will
be expected this season,
and Reyna said he ex
pects a better season.
“We’re confident —
with the team we have
— that there will be an
improvement in the way
we play ... in the overall
togetherness and unity,”
Reyna said.
“We know which part
of the game we need to
improve,” Vieira said.
The new coach brings
with him a trophy case
that’s at least as impres
sive as his three desig
nated players — he
helped bring a World
Cup home to France,
won three Premier
League titles (including
an undefeated season)
with Arsenal and won
five Serie A champion
ships at Juventus and In
ter Milan.
SPORTS SHORTS
NBA: Wade-less Heat fall
In Washington, John Wall had 18
points and 10 assists and Bradley
Beal added 18 more as the Wizards
sent the injuryravaged Heat to their
sixth loss in seven games, 10687 on
Wednesday night. Miami played with
out Dwyane Wade, who was
scratched with shoulder soreness
about a halfhour before the game.
l In Chicago, Stephen Curry
scored 25 points, and the Warriors
made it look easy again, beating the
Bulls 12594. Curry tied a season high
with 11 assists.
l In Oklahoma City, Kevin Du
rant scored 26 points to help the
Thunder beat the Hornets 10995 for
their sixth straight win.
l In Toronto, DeMar DeRozan
scored 34 points as the Raptors won
their seasonhigh sixth straight game.
MLB: Brewers’ Lucroy: Trade me
Veteran catcher Jonathan Lucroy
said Wednesday the Brewers should
trade him as the team begins a rebuild
ing process. Lucroy said he wants to
win, to go to a World Series, and that’s
not going to happen with the Brewers
in the foreseeable future. The 29year
old catcher told the Milwaukee Jour
nal Sentinel that “rebuilding is not a
lot of fun for any veteran guy.”
l Marlins Park likely will remain
pitcherfriendly, but work is underway to
make the dimensions less daunting for
hitters. The centerfield wall is being
moved 11 feet closer to home plate and
will be 407 feet away this season.
l The Tigers finalized their $132.75
million, sixyear contract with free
agent outfielder Justin Upton. ... The
Rockies finalized a $27.5 million,
threeyear contract with outfielder
Gerardo Parra.
COLLEGE: Alcohol at CWS
The NCAA announced Wednesday
that beer and wine will be sold in gen
eral seating areas for the first time this
year at the College World Series in
Omaha and the Women’s College
World Series in Oklahoma City.
l Old rivals Nebraska and Okla
homa have added two more football
games against each other to their fu
ture schedules. Nebraska announced
the games for 2029 and 2030. Those
are in addition to previously an
nounced meetings in 2021 and 2022.
