CARDIO SCULPT A cardio-based class mixed with intervals of body sculpting exercises using your own body weight and other equipment such as dumbbells, exercise balls and weighted bars. COMBAT TRAINING This class offers a wide variety of sport-specific movements with combinations of strength, cardio, kickboxing and abs. No complicated choreography. DUAL FUSION This class will combine two class formats. For example,you may do Step and Kickboxing one day and Body Combat and Kettlebell the next. This class guarantees a great 60-minute workout no matter what! ENDURANCE CYCLING This class will keep you in your heart rate and in your midrange aerobic zone. You will climb a series of hills, speed down a flat road and take a few jumps. GENTLE YOGA This class will be an introduction for beginners, or an easier class for those recovering from injury or who enjoy a gentler practice. GROOVE YOGA Multi-Level By tuning into how your body wants to move, you can dance YOUR dance and get the total body workout that will leave you feeling energized, de-stressed, and smiling! INSTRUCTOR’S CHOICE KICKBOXING KETTLEBELL PILATES This time, the instructor decides. This class can be a combination of any of our classes. An awesome new body building and fat-burning workout! You will use Russian style kettlebells to sculpt and tone your body as well as improve flexibility and stamina. A series of core-strengthening exercises in progression. Pilates is a proven way to strengthen your core, lengthen your spine and protect your lower back. PILOXING A unique mix of Pilates and boxing, Piloxing is a fattorching, muscle-sculpting cardio workout. This fun, highenergy class will get you in shape! SMAC SWIMMING The Waynesboro Family YMCA’s Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club (SMAC) has swimmers from 5 to 18 years old participating on the Team. The team competes in both USA Swimming and YMCA meets. SMAC welcomes new members who can swim at least 1 length of the pool freestyle and backstroke. 12 & Under OPEn House WHEN: Aug 26-30 Tuesday - Friday (4:30 pm -5:30 pm) Saturday (9 am - 10 am) WHERE: Waynesboro YMCA Pool and Observation Room WHO: All swimmers ages 6-12 years old that have an interest in year round swimming are welcome to attend. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke to attend our Open House. SMAC Swimming was recently recognized by USA Swimming as a Silver Medal Club. The Club Excellence Program is a program that identifies and recognizes USA Swimming clubs for their commitment to performance excellence. It includes a water evaluation by SMAC coaches, an overview of the program for parents and an opportunity to meet the coaching staff and ask questions. You and your swimmer may attend as many days as you like, but each day the presentation by Coach Norm and in the pool instruction will be the same. All 13 and older swimmers should contact Coach Norm directly. SMAC Fall invitational is a great fundraiser for our YMCA program as well as an opportunity for our local youth to showcase their hard work from the first part of the season. The Fall Invite is also the first time our young swimmers will get the chance to represent their YMCA during the season. The collaborative program between the UVa Children’s Hospital, Augusta Health, and the Y will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm. In addition to 45 minutes of exercise, we will have group discussions about health and wellness topics. Participate in the 5th Annual Tri for the Y sponsored by Blue Ridge Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and proudly brought to by the Elevation Athletics Team. Over the past 4 years, this event has created a professional, competitive and community-oriented triathlon. The sprint triathlon allows athletes the chance to compete, soak in the surroundings and be a part of the community. It is designed for both serious tri-athletes who are looking to participate in an event dedicated to a worthy cause, as well as those individuals who are looking to take their first big step onto the triathlon scene. Diabetes Self-Management Workshop is a free 6 week program for persons with diabetes and/or caregivers and family members of people with diabetes. This Stanford evidence based program will complement and enhance your medical professional’s recommended treatment plans. Participants will learn a variety of necessary day-to-day management skills needed to actively manage diabetes and maintain and/or increase life’s activities in order to lead active and fulfilling lives.
