Cathedral of St Chad Sta%ons of the Cross Sta.ons of the Cross • We are very blessed to own such beau%ful Sta%ons of the Cross, these beau%fully cra8ed images will help you follow Our Lord’s journey to the Cross which took place on Good Friday. • The Sta%ons serve to reminder all of us the sacrifice Our Lord made for our salva%on and take us, in prayer, on this journey with Our Lord all year round. • They were carved in 1875 by Albrecht de Vriendt of Antwerp and fashion the faces and dress in a European style which is very unusual. The most holy people represented in the Sta%ons are shown with a halo around their head. The Dean 1. Jesus is condemned to death. When they arrived they were surprised to see that the stone that had blocked the tomb entrance had been moved. Looking inside they could see that Jesus was nowhere to be found. Two angels were close by and told the friends not to be afraid and that they would not find Jesus in the tomb – He had risen from the dead. Mary Magdalene then saw Jesus and He told her He was alive. She ran back to tell the others. “Do this in memory of me” It wasn’t unJl some other friends were on the road to Emmaus that a ‘stranger’ joined them on their journey and they discussed the sadness that had occurred in Jerusalem. When invited to join the friends for dinner the ‘stranger’ broke the bread to be shared in such a way that these friends knew that this person was Jesus. He had really risen from the dead. Jesus sent his friends out to tell the world about this wonderful news. Images copyright of the Cathedral of St Chad, Birmingham, UK
