The West Coast Route is part of the 6,000km North Sea Cycle Route that meanders along the coastlines of England, Scotland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark and Norway. Attractions The West Coast Route runs along the wideopen sandy west coast. Highlight attractions in South Jutland include the open marshlands and tidal wetlands by the Wadden Sea National Park and the heritage town of Ribe, which is Denmark’s oldest city (see page 10-11). The Berlin-Copenhagen Route Rugged cliffs and green archipelago The Berlin-Copenhagen Route offers the chance to combine two great cities and discover the wide-open countryside and green Danish archipelago. Attractions The Danish section of the route, called the East Coast Route, stretches 240km from Gedser to Copenhagen and includes highlight attractions such as the island of Møn with its towering tree-capped white cliffs and the rugged Stevns Klint coastline. The northern stretch of the route passes through the wilderness of the Thy National Park, where you also find separate trails for mountain bikes, and close to some of Europe’s largest migrating sand dunes.
