Dennis the Menace and Gnasher on CBBC
The BBC are pleased to report that there have been over one million requests to view the recently launched
Dennis the Menace and Gnasher show on i-Player, the core choice for viewers of the show.
The new show, currently showing on CBBC, was first broadcast on 8th July 2013.
Further reports confirm the show has a 25% audience share for kids aged 6 – 12 years across all channels.

The Beano’s 75th Anniversary round up
Beanotown at Southbank
The run up to The Beano’s 75th anniversary had already kicked off early in May with the hugely successful
Beanotown pop-up at London’s Southbank and is still open to the public 11am – 7pm until 8th September.
Entry is free and from the first instance visitors should be prepared for bombardment on all fronts from the
past, present and future of the most iconic British comic ever – a never-to-be-forgotten experience!
Kid and adults won’t need much encouraging to get stuck into the fantastic activities organised with experts
help on hand. Learn to draw your Beano heroes at the Comic Art Masterclass with Kev F. Sutherland, model
making tips led by an expert from Aardman studios and hands-on chocolate making!
Whether it’s a slap-up feed or just a light snack, the on-site Beano Breville Bar keeps the full Beano
experience going for the visit as does the dedicated retail area.
The success of Beanotown over the period has brought about new commercial options for the brand by
showcasing prototype products, encouraging licensees’ buyers to see product categories brought together
realising ’the bigger picture’ within the Beano environment. This helped to inspire and build a case for new
consumer product and partners.
Tremendous publicity has been generated over the success of Beanotown with major coverage across BBC,
Channel 5, ITV, print and online coverage including comic bloggers and various London-focussed sites
confirming the enduring and wide-ranging appeal of The Beano.
The Beano 75th Anniversary magazine
News of the 75th anniversary issue of The Beano magazine and, in particular, the fantastic story of Dennis
the Menace ‘helping’ David Beckham find a house in Beanotown only to discover he has ended up living
next door to Sir Alex Ferguson(!) coverage featured on the main terrestrial and satellite newsfeeds, national
daily and regional newspapers (and their websites) , over 60 local and national radio shows, 75+ online sites
(including US, French & Indian) and dedicated media trade sites.
Other high profile celebrities in the iconic issue included Andy Murray, Harry Hill, Sir Bruce Forsyth, Holly
Willoughby, Simon Cowell, One Direction and Jessie J.
Interviews with The Beano’s Editor-in-Chief, Mike Stirling, were featured in The Guardian’s Saturday Family

The boots are also included in Dr Martens’ ‘Stand For Something’ ad campaign.
Gibsons Games
Beano jigsaw licensee Gibson Games has produced a new 1,000 piece jigsaw to mark the 75th anniversary of
The Beano.
Glorifying the comic’s 75 years, the depiction is an eye-popping smorgasbord of iconic covers and cartoon
artwork. An added bonus is an exclusive mini-comic of debut appearances by some of the comic’s most
illustrious characters such as Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Minx, Gnasher, Roger the Dodger and The
Three Bears to name but a few.
The jigsaw is made form 100% recycled high quality board.
The Lagoon Group
The Lagoon Group continue to produce high quality innovative product with the latest Beano Kids Games
Compendium.
Featuring the stars from The Beano and to mark the iconic comic’s 75th anniversary, the compendium is a
