Volume 31, No. 9 Mid-America Packards, Inc. September 2013 THE DATA PLATE The Data Plate is the Official Publication of Mid-America Packards – A Region of Packard Automobile Classics Silent Auction for September 27th Meeting & at the Chili Supper Oct. 5th Now is the time to clean out the closets and garage for our September meeting and October Chili supper. As you will see in our newsletter (page 4 & 5) we are having a fund raiser for the UMKC Baja Racing Team. We thought we could jump start the event with our own silent auction. Our proceeds will go to the Racing team. If you don’t want to bring it all to one meeting that is great we will have different folks at each event. You never know what might show up that you have been looking for. Happy cleaning and remember “One man’s trash, is other man’s treasure.” Our program for September will be a presentation that has perhaps not been seen for nearly 90 years. Jeff Pachl will be showing the “lantern slides” taken by E.S. Evans and A. F. Bement during their trailblazing run from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Victoria, British Columbia in the LHA Packard Six. The complete tale was recently published in The Packard Cormorant, but there were many beautiful photographs that simply would not fit between the covers. If you enjoyed the adventures of Bement and Evans, you will love the photographs that they took and presented at the first Lincoln Highway Association meeting of 1925. Dues Reminder Membership Director Steve Christy and Treasurer Mike Sneed would like to invite all members to consider the renewal of your dues for 2013. Dues are now $25 for 12 months of our newsletter, The Data Plate, and 12 months of Packard fun. We have recently updated our Membership Directory, and would like to continue to list all of our Packard friends within its pages. If you have already renewed, Mid-America Packards thanks you for your continued support.
