MARIO KASSAR: The Man Behind…
Carolco’s Chief Development Executive
Mario Kassar, as producer and executive producer of films, has
grossed over $3 billion dollars (in today's value) in worldwide
theatrical box office receipts. Spanning a 30+ year career, he has
released 36 motion pictures of which 16 were nominated for
Academy Awards receiving a total of 6 Academy Awards.
And now Mario Kassar is back
with Carolco Pictures as its Chief
Development Executive, once
again, intent on producing his
next great film "Audition", a
remake of Ryu Murakami cult
horror classic from the hit
novel.
3
FILM PRODUCTION: AUDITION
Audition is a remake of the Japanese cult bestseller of the same name
written by Ryu Murakami. The book was made into a Japanese film in
1999, and is considered one of the best Japanese horror films. We plan
to update the story, set the film in the US and leverage the cult status. Budget: $4 million+
Director: Richard Gray
Producers: Mario Kassar, Richard Gray
Writers: Richard Gray, Michele Gray

IN THE PRESS: AUDITION
Eli Roth on Japanese language film adaptation
of Audition: “..Audition is a brilliant movie about perfection,
and the Japanese stereotype of wanting a perfect little
subservient woman, and this man holds this fraudulent casting
to find a new wife. Even though it’s creepy what he’s doing, and
totally sexist, and he gets what’s coming to him, you do feel
bad for him. It’s also about how people are blinded by love and
obsession to the point where they don’t even listen to their
friends’ warnings. It’s a brilliant exercise in tension just
building up to that one horror scene, and the scene
is relentless.”

IMBD - Number 12, in "The 30 Greatest
Horror Films Of The 1990s"
On Japanese language film adaptation of Audition ,
Quentin Tarantino stated: “A true masterpiece.”

The New York Times By ELVIS MITCHELL: "The Japanese
psychological horror film ''Audition'' has been responsible for
throngs of shaken filmgoers staggering out of theaters for the
last year or so".

FILM PRODUCTION: LOVE BITES
In Love Bites, an LA detective joins forces with a famous Hollywood starlet Vampire in a race
against time to catch an undead serial killer preying upon Hollywood’s secret supernatural
population. The screen adaptation of this fan favorite is sure to be as thrilling as it is funny.
Budget: $1.5 million
Director: B Harrison Smith
Screenwriters: B Harrison Smith, Adrienne Barbeau
Adrienne Barbeau is the best selling author of Love
Bites. With her customary wit and dead-on satire,
Barbeau skewers Hollywood and vamp lit alike,
casting the paparazzi as werewolves and certain
Hollywood “monsters” as the genuine article.
“Adrienne has taken a very tired genre and super-injected it with a hyper-charged blast
of raw sexual energy. A wild, tense, exciting ride that instantly grabs you by the neck
and doesn't let go!"
-- Rob Zombie, director of The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween
"Love Bites is pure fun from beginning to end."
--David Morrell, New York Times bestselling author of Creepers
"A fast, funny, sexy take on Hollywood vampires. Her vampires are not only divine,
they're famous!"
7
--Anne Stuart, New York Times bestselling author of Fire and Ice
B HARRISON SMITH

February third. The film stars Billy Zane, Dee Wallace, Mischa Barton and Felissa Rose. His reality show, Hang
Men debuted successfully on Discovery in March 2014.
Smith joins Felissa Rose as Co-Head of Carolco's
Independent Genre Division. With a solid slate of films,
they are coming out of the gate with Love Bites, an

secure a solid pool of talent to their roster of quality
commercial genre product.

FELISSA ROSE
Head of Independent Genre Division
Felissa Rose is a fan favorite on both sides of the camera who brings tremendous buzz
to every project she works on. At 13 she portrayed the first female, teenaged, serial

grown in size and intensity since then. After graduating NYU, Tisch School of the Arts,
she decided to work in theatre in NYC and soon after returned to film. "Return to
Sleepaway Camp", "Satan's Playground", "Dead and Gone", and "Horror" are among
the list. Felissa became a consultant with Fangoria TV and produced several shows
about Scream Queens and how to make horror films. Having worked on over 60 horror
films to date, she recently produced several including "No Solicitors" starring Eric
Roberts and Kim Poirier. In 2014 Image entertainment released Camp Dread, starring
Danielle Harris, Eric Roberts and Felissa. She recently worked on Zombie Killer's
alongside Billy Zane, Mischa Barton and Dee Wallace. Felissa just wrapped Blood
Reservoir and has a slate of upcoming films. GeekNation is collaborating with her and
Sean Whalen on a new TV project, Rewind.

comedy pilot set in New York City. It is
centered on the life experiences of Nick, a
funny, light-hearted doorman, at a historic and
