Bracelet Cutting Earrings Cutting Dia. 1 Petal Construction 1. Fold one 2 1/2" square in half diagonally with wrong sides together (Dia. 1). Press this fold with an iron. 2. Fold down the upper right corner to the bottom point and finger press (Dia. 2). Dia. 2 3. Fold down the upper left corner to the bottom point and finger press (Dia. 3). 4. Flip the folded square to the back. Fold the diamond in half and finger press as shown in Diagram 4 (vertical dash line). Open the diamond and fold in the left side point to the center line and finger press. Hold this formed triangle while finishing the petal. Dia. 3 Dia. 4 5. Fold in the right side point to the center line and finger press (Dia. 5). Make sure to hold this formed triangle while finishing the petal. Dia. 5 6. Bring both folded edges formed in Steps 4 and 5 into the center of the folded diamond to form the petal (Dia. 6a & 6b). Slide a straight pin into the folded petal. Make sure to go through the two small inner triangles (Dia. 7). 7. Trim off the bottom excess fabric of the petal so the bottom edge is flush with the bottom point of the small inner triangles (Dia. 8). 8. Repeat Steps 1- 7 to make a total of eight large petals for the large flower. Dia. 6b Dia. 6a Flower Construction 9. Lay out the petals in the order you would like them to appear in the flower, with the same side facing up on all the petals. Thread a sewing needle with a double thread. Do not tie off the one end. Carefully pull the pin out of the first petal and slide the petal onto the threaded needle about 1/4" up from the bottom edge. Make sure you catch the two inner triangles on the needle. Note: If you do not catch the inner triangles, the petal will not form. If you need to go through the petal higher than a ¼" from the bottom, make sure you go through the rest of the petals at the same height. 10. String all eight petals onto the thread. Make a loop to create a circle of petals; tie in a loose knot (Dia. 9). Pull the knot snug but not too tight. Arrange the petals and push each petal open to create a rounded top. This may take a few tries to get the flower to your liking. Double knot the thread once the flower is to your liking. Do not cut off the needle and thread yet. Dia. 8 Dia. 7 11. Use the needle and thread to attach one 3/8" black button to the center of the flower to complete (Dia. 10). 12. You will need to make one Large Flower from the 2 1/2" squares and two Medium Flowers from the 2" squares for the necklace. You will need to make one Medium Flower from the 2" squares and two Small Flowers from the 1 1/2" squares for the bracelet. You will need to make two Small Flowers from the 1 1/2" squares for the earrings. Dia. 9 Jewelry Assembly 13. Take one eye pin and measure it to the back of the Large Flower. Cut the eye pin 1/4" longer than the flower center with the wire cutters. Curve the bottom end of the eye pin into a hook with the jewelry pliers (Dia. 11). Position the eye pin on the back of the flower with the round eye sticking up between two petals and glue the hook to the flower. Glue one fabric circle to the back of the flower, covering the eye pin, and stitch. Necklace 14. To make the necklace, add one jump ring to the eye pin loop on the large flower and two medium flowers. Slide the large flower onto the 28" suede cord. Fold the cord in half to find the center of the cord. Slide the large flower to the center of the cord and use the two ends of cord to tie a knot around the jump ring to hold the large flower in place on the cord. Dia. 10 15. Slide one medium flower onto each side of the large flower on the cord. Arrange them equally to either side of the large flower and tie a knot in the cord around the jump rings to hold each flower in place. 16. Measure the necklace on your neck to make sure it is long enough to go over your head and tie a knot to make the necklace. Optional: If you would like your necklace as a choker, add a clasp to each end of the cord following the manufacturer’s instructions on clasp package. Dia. 11 Earrings 17. Using the pliers, attach one French wire to the eye pin loop on each small flower to make the earrings. Bracelet 18. Measure the 12" black ribbon on your wrist. Make sure you have a 1/2" overlap and trim the ribbon to length. Sew the snap to each end of the ribbon for the bracelet closure. Optional: Cut the ribbon with a 1 1/2" overlap. Fold under each end of the ribbon 1/4" twice and topstitch down to create a finished end on the ribbon before adding the snap. 19. Position the remaining medium flower to the center of the ribbon and sew in place. Arrange one small flower to each side of the medium flower and sew them in place to complete the bracelet.
