Frequently Asked Questions About Rejex-it® Fog Force™ What is Fog Force™? When is the best time to fog? Fog Force™ is an aerosol bird repellent formulated from Methyl Anthranilate and used for the non-lethal control of birds. Methyl Anthranilate, the active ingredient, is a food grade repellent which exceeds US Food Chemical Codes (FCC) specifications, and is classified as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the Expert Panel of the Flavor & Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA). Methyl Anthranilate is an additive to foods, food flavors, and fragrances and is used as a flavoring agent in beverages, ice creams, candy, gelatins, puddings and chewing gum. Best results are achieved when birds congregate in the early morning when they look for their preferred feeding ground, or in the early evening when they settle down for the night. Fog before it gets too dark for birds to leave once they are exposed. Does it work on all birds? Yes. There are no species of bird that are not affected. It may be difficult to get close enough to some birds to expose them to the aerosol. Automated systems can be installed that will drive them away in those cases. How does it work? Rejex-it® Fog Force™ works as a bird repellent by irritating birds’ eyes and mucous membranes. This will repel established flocks of birds for the season without permanent damage to the birds. How does fogging work? The birds must be exposed to the fog and inhale it to be effective. Fogging works with all birds. They do not have to eat the product. Birds will associate the pain stimulus with the site, learning that the site is not desirable. It may take repeated exposures to the aerosol for the birds to learn to leave the area completely for the season. The grape-like odor does not work as a repellent. It requires the higher concentrations of the aerosol droplets, which have a greater impact on birds. Which areas can I fog? Rejex-it® Fog Force™ may be used in applications to repel nuisance birds from structures and buildings, trees and shrubs, airports and open areas, golf courses, sports fields, parks, cemeteries, electrical substations, AROUND lakes and ponds, harbors and boat docks that are not in/on or adjacent to natural or fish-bearing bodies of water and landfills and fruit productions (cherries, blueberries and grapes only). Fog Force™ is not approved for fogging in the state of New York. How long does the fog last? The fog will evaporate within a few minutes. Once the fog has dissipated, the remaining odor does not have an effect on birds. Are there any adverse effects to people? How do I use Fog Force™ in a fogger? Rejex-it® Fog Force™ may be used in either thermal or mechanical foggers (Ultra Low Volume Foggers – ULV’s). Pour Fog Force™ into the formulation tank and operate as directed by the manufacturer. For best results, use a low to medium setting below 30 microns that generates a “dry” fog that penetrates bushes and trees without any discoloration. If you use high settings the fog becomes “wet” and can become toxic to vegetation if the leaves get wet. To keep birds away from re-infestation in small areas, mechanical foggers (electrical or compressed air) are very useful. Mechanical foggers (mosquito fogger) will only be effective if they manufacture droplet sizes of less than 30 microns. Do I have to dilute the product? No, it does not mix with water. How often do I have to fog? Rejex-it® Fog Force™ will provide immediate results, however, it may take several applications to obtain long-term results. Usually 1-6 applications of only 2.5 ounces per acre are enough to repel established flocks of birds from the treated area for the season. It takes time for the birds to find a new home and new feeding ground. Only a fraction of the birds in a flock will be exposed at one time and will effectively learn the irritating effects. No, the product is formulated from food grade ingredients and no adverse effects to people or animals are known. The fog has a distinct grape odor and settles easily into clothing and fabric. To avoid getting the odor into your car and house, you should change your clothing after exposure. How do I place an order?
