D310 Power Applications
PORTABLE SIDEHAND SERIES
Testing high voltages requires our DAQ and HSI series HV modules
You can configure your D310 with any 8 of our DAQ and HSI series high voltage modules, and directly input up to ±1400V into the
D310. DAQP-HV modules provide 300 kHz bandwidth, while the HSI-HV version provides 2 MHz bandwidth! When high bandwidth is
needed we recommend to upgrade the ORION card to our 1 MS/s/ch card (UP-ORION-100-1000 or UP-ORION-100-1000-8 if only 8
channels are needed). DAQP-LV and HSI-LV modules work perfectly with our current clamps and flexible coils, allowing you to make
precision voltage and current measurements with your D310. Add the DS-OPT-POWER software option and unlock a whole world
of power and energy related calculations and on-line displays, including active and reactive power, power factor, harmonics and
interharmonics,and more.
Typical Power and Energy Applications:
Rod Drop Testing at Nuclear Plants
Power Plant Trouble-shooting
Rail Car Substation Power Monitoring
Hybrid-electric Vehicle Testing
Key DEWETRON capabilities
Calculation of all common power parameters
(power factor, active, reactive, apparent power,
harmonics, interharmonics, flicker, et al)
Portable, lightweight, easy to move around
Built-in UPS option for continuous monitoring
Advanced triggering, including triggering on RMS,
frequency changes, and more
D310 with 310-DISP option and plug-in DAQ
ISOLATION modules
DAQP-HV and HSI-HV modules
The DAQP-HV is a plug-in module that provides 300 kHz bandwidth, and measuring ranges from
±20V to ±1400V, with 1800 Vrms line-to-line isolation and 1.4kV line-to-ground isolation. It is the
perfect amplifier for most power and energy measurement applications.
Need higher bandwidth? Choose the HSI-HV module, which increases the bandwidth to 2 MHz,
while retaining the high voltage ranges and powerful isolation.
Both versions of the HV module are availale with insulated safety type banana jacks, or optional
screw terminal connectors for fixed installations.
Great software capabilities
The DS-OPT-POWER software
option adds the kinds of displays
and calculations that you need
for the most demanding energy
analysis applications.
Screen setup is fast and easy.
Create whatever you like in
moments. Save everything to an
unlimited number of setup files.
A separate data base option allows
you to write RMS and event values
to a SQL data base. Multiple DEWE
systems can be located across a
wide geography, and all write back
to a common location.

D310 Aerospace Applications
In the air or on the ground, Dewetron is involved in your most demanding testing needs
The D310 is right at home in your test chamber, hooked up to strain, pressure, acceleration, force and temperature sensors. In
addition you can input voltage and current, 4-20mA transducer outputs, and virtually every signal and sensor type. Whether you're
doing engine tests on the wing, in the SIL, or in the chamber, we are there. Recorder and X-Y graphs make plotting physical
parameters graphical and easy. Connect up a video camera and see what the test looked like. If you are flying, the D310 is small
enough to fit into most aircraft, and easy to operate either directly from its front panel, or via remote desktop connection. GPS and
IRIG time code capabilities complete the suite of input requirements of these applications, allowing you to record your data in sync
with absolute time, and to plot your position on a map.

D310 Automotive / Vehicle Applications
PORTABLE SIDEHAND SERIES
Test track and test chamber applications abound
Dewetron started out as a company making systems for the automotive makers of Europe, so this application area is deep within our
bones. The D310 is ideally suited for testing applications in cars, trucks, trains - basically anything that rolls along on the ground. We have
deep application knowledge in the areas of dynamic testing, structural analysis, vehicle data bus technology (CAN, Flexray, XCP, to name
a few), functional safety, active and passive safety systems, combustion analysis, and so much more.
Our GPS implementation is second to none, allowing you to record sensor data in perfect sync with your speed and position on the
earth. Use the PLUGIN-POLYGON software option to create a virtual three-dimensional world on the screen that your vehicle can move
on. Whether you're testing cars, trains, busses, motorcycles, or military vehicles, Dewetron is there. The wide DC input range of the D310
makes it ideally suited for in-vehicle applications.

Counter input features
DEWETRON has advanced the stateof-the-art in counter/encoder inputs in
our data acquisition systems, improving yet again our ORION-counters.
ADC-clock
Counter input
The key advancement is that our
counters are PHASE SYNCHRONIZED.
Referring to the diagram, you can see
that a standard counter is always a
sample behind. With software interpolation you can get closer, but only
with DEWETRON’s advanced time
shifting technology are both the
phase and amplitude fully corrected!

Channel Expansion
PORTABLE SIDEHAND SERIES
You can select between expansion by:
Analog cable
PCI expansion
Expansion via Ethernet
Channel expansion by analog cable
DEWE-ORION card
in the D310
A very popular way of expanding the analog inputs is
to install more ORION cards into the instrument and
connect external signal conditioning amplifiers via
analog cables. Each D310 instrument has two spare
PCI-slots which can be used to install additional
ORION cards. Select a suitable external DEWE-30
or DEWE-31 series signal conditioning rack, the
required amplifiers and directly connect the analog
outputs to the ORION cards by analog signal cables.

Expansion via TCP/IP
The NET expansion is a fantastic way to combine two or more D310 instruments to one multichannel system. Each
instrument must have the hardware option UP-ORION-SYNC and the software option DS-OPT-NET. Synchronization of
all units is required too. There are two synchronization methods: (1) a simple SYNC cable connection, for distances
up to 200 m, or (2) DEWE-CLOCK (internal or external), for long distances when a SYNC cable connection is not
possible. The DS-OPT-NET software offers full remote setup, online data transfer up to the limit of the network
connection and offline data transfer between the
instruments.
0.000 ms
User tip: The NET expansion allows multiple usages
of the PC power and fast storing capability. Multiple
decentralized hard disks offer almost no limit for fast
data storing.

expansion
The PCI expansion is an alternative especially if high channel count is
needed. When using an expansion only one PCI slot is occupied in the
D310 instrument by a PCI-HOST-CARD. The DEWE-50, DEWE-51 and
DEWE-52 ADC racks can be connected by a 1m PCI cable. The ORION
cards are installed inside the DEWE-5x unit and you simply have to
select the suitable signal amplifiers for your needs.
Important notice: The D310 and the DEWE-5x must be equipped with
ORION-SYNC option.

User tip: with an additional ECARD-34 or 54 the DEWE-5x also can
be used as an independent system in combination with a laptop
computer.
