SPANISH RED SANGRIA PINK BLUSH
MOJITO ................................................................£6.55 WHITE RUM, SUGAR, LIME JUICE, SODA & MINT Cuba is the birthplace of the Mojito, although the exact origin of this classic cocktail is the subject of debate. Traditionally, a Mojito consists of five ingredients: White Rum, Sugar, Lime Juice, Soda, and Mint. The Mojito translates to "something a little wet" and has routinely been presented as author Ernest Hemingway's favourite drink. Or you can try our own Mojito versions STRAWBERRY MOJITO ..................................£6.95 MOJITO WITH PURÉED STRAWBERRIES SPICED MOJITO FIZZ .....................................£7.95 SPICED RUM, SUGAR, LIME JUICE, MINT & BUBBLY VIRGIN MOJIAPPLE ........................................£3.95 APPLE JUICE, GINGER BEER, MINT & LIME Great for kids and designated drivers or for everyone who wants a fancy alcohol-free drink. CAIPIRINHA ......................................................£6.55 SAGATIBA CACHAÇA, SUGAR, LIME JUICE The Caipirinha, made from Cachaça, is Brazil’s national cocktail. Order one, and you will see why. Cachaça -the main ingredient- is a spirit made from distilling unrefined sugar, giving it a fresh, earthly flavour which becomes addictive when muddled with lime juice and sugar. The origin of Caipirinha is unknown, but according to one account it is based on a remedy used for treating the Spanish flu. STRAWBERRY CAIPIRINHA .........................£6.95 SAGATIBA CACHAÇA, SUGAR, STRAWBERRY PURÉE Our favourite alternative to Caipirinha, also known as CAIPIFRUTA. CAIPIROSKA …..................................................£6.55 VODKA, SUGAR, LIME JUICE Immensely popular outside Brazil, this cocktail is prepared with Vodka instead of cachaça. Access to imported spirits and especially vodka has improved greatly in most Latin American countries and has helped in making this refreshing cocktail quite fashionable throughout the continent. Another possibility is that the drink was pioneered by the Brazilian elite who, with access to finer and imported spirits, were looking for a new twist on what was regarded as a “low-class” drink. In Brazilian Portuguese, Caipirinha is a diminutive of the word “hillbilly”! ESPRESSO MARTINI .....................................£6.95 VODKA, ESPRESSO AND COFFEE LIQUEUR Dimitri's 'stimulant', is a shaken blend of Vodka, Espresso and Coffee Liqueur. This famous cocktail was created by Dick Bradsell, in the 1980s. Rumour has it he was asked by an unnamed but now-famous model to “make a drink to wake me up”, and the result was this creamy, rich cocktail. Bradsell is far too discreet to name the model in question, but candidates include Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. THE BLACK RUSSIAN ...................................£7.25 VODKA AND COFFEE LIQUEUR The cocktail owes its name to the use of Vodka, a typically Russian spirit, and the blackness of the Coffee Liqueur. Legend has it that this drink was created by Gustave Tops in the late ‘40s at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels in honour of Perle Mesta, the then U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg and a socialite, known as the "hostess with the mostest" for her lavish Washington D.C. parties. THE WHITE RUSSIAN ....................................£7.50 VODKA, COFFEE LIQUEUR AND CREAM An easy to drink but still quite strong cocktail, it is favoured among people who may be somewhat sensitive to the taste of strong spirits. The White Russian’s popularity in the modern era is mainly because of the Coen Brother’s 1998 cult film The Big Lebowski. Jeff Bridges, playing The Dude - the main protagonist - knocked back eight of them (and dropped a ninth) during the course of the movie. But it is now widely accepted that in the mid-1960s, the marketing department of Southern Comfort came up with the idea of adding Cream to Vodka and Coffee Liqueur, to promote the now long forgotten Coffee Southern Liquor. MARGARITA .....................................................£6.95 JOSE CUERVO, COINTREAU & FRESH LIME IN CRUSHED ICE Everyone knows North America’s most popular cocktail, that invigorating Tequila drink that can be made in so many ways and take on many personalities. The exact origin of the Margarita is unknown but it became popular during the Prohibition Era, as people crossed the U.S. borders into Mexico in search of alcohol and by 1945 Jose Cuervo was running ad campaigns with the slogan “Margarita: It’s more than a girl’s name”. TENNESSEE TWIST .........................................£6.95 JACK DANIELS, AMARETTO, LEMON JUICE, COCA COLA Here at Dimitri’s we are very fond of Tennessee’s greatest whiskey and our bartenders leapt at the opportunity to include in our cocktails list a beverage with Jack Daniel’s as a main ingredient. Our offering adds a twist (or two!) to another classic cocktail - The Godfather. Originally a drink made of equal parts of scotch and amaretto, it was rumoured to be one of Marlon Brando’s favourite cocktails. Sangria - named after the Spanish word for ROSSINI 125ml Flute Glass ......................£6.95 "blood" because of its typical dark-red colour - is based on the traditional red wine punch popular across Europe for hundreds of years. Nowadays is typically created from Red Wine, Fruit Juices, Soft Drinks, Fruits and, if you ask nicely, a bit of Brandy. It is important to note that there is no standard Sangria recipe and although traditionally Sangria is a red wine only beverage, modern times have brought with it the onset of white, and even Sparkling, Sangria recipes. Dimitri's take on the famous Bellini invented by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of the famous Harry's Bar in Venice. The Bellini consists of Puréed White Peaches and Prosecco, whereas Dimitri's ROSSINI consists of Puréed Strawberries and Italian Sparkling Wine. APEROL SPRITZ ..........................................£7.25 ITALIAN SPARKLING WINE, SODA & APEROL Spritzers are wine-based mixtures that were born in the 1800s, during the period of the Habsburg domination in Italy’s Veneto. The Germans, not being accustomed to the higher alcohol volume of the Mediterranean wines, started to ask the locals to spray a bit of water into their cups, to make the wine lighter. The original Spritzer was, in fact, composed of sparkling wines diluted with water. By the 1900s and with the advent of soda water, it became possible to make a Sparkling Spritzer using still wines, and in the 50’s APEROL introduced this dazzling aperitif cocktail. A cool Rosé Wine Punch Made With Italian Bubbly Glass (250ml) …...………..…...£5.95 Carafe (1 Litre) …..................£16.95 BULLBERRY...................................................£7.55 SMIRNOFF VODKA, STRAWBERRY PURÉE, LIME & RED BULL Vodka & Red Bull with its roots in the club scene, has become very popular in the recent years and it is not unusual to have people order it at our bar or with their meals. By adding Strawberry Purée the drink becomes just sweet enough - with the strawberries nicely accented by the tangy lime.
