BOLL FAMILY YMCA
WELCOME TO THE Y.
For over 150 years, the Y has
served communities in Metropolitan
Detroit, creating opportunities
where children and families can grow.
While our programs and facilities are
always based on the unique needs
and interests of our communities,
every Y has one thing in common:
our people. The volunteers, staff,
members and donors of the Y are
all united by a deep commitment
to strengthening the community.
Our Cause Defines Us
We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why, at
the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make
sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and
thrive.
Our Areas of Focus
The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social
responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our
health and our neighbors.
Youth Development - Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.
Healthy Living - Improving our community’s health and well-being.
Social Responsibility - Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
Our Impact is Felt Every Day
With a mission based on Judeo-Christian principles, the Y is dedicated to putting its principles into
practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Our impact is felt when an
individual makes a healthy choice, when a volunteer mentor inspires a child, when a community comes
together for the common good.
We’re Here for Everyone
The Y offers affordable programs and services designed to benefit people of all incomes and backgrounds.
Fees are based on the actual costs to provide each program. The Y uses contributed funds from the
scholarship assistance program to ensure those unable to pay the stated fees are able to participate. If
fees are a concern, please inquire at the courtesy counter for a scholarship application form. All records
and inquiries are kept confidential and the form is simple to complete.

Child Supervision
In order to offer a positive experience for all
members and guests, ALL children under the
age of 15 MUST BE accompanied by a parent
or legal guardian at all times while in the
branch unless participating in a supervised
Y program. In order to maintain consistency
and treat all children fairly, there will be
no exceptions to this policy. All children
under the age of 13 are not permitted in the
Wellness Center, unless participating in a Y
program. All children ages 13 and older must
use gender specific locker rooms. The YMCA
of Metropolitan Detroit strongly encourages
parents to supervise all children under the
age of 18 while in the facility.

CHILD CARE
Child Development Center
Ages 6 weeks–5 years
The Boll Family YMCA offers quality, affordable child care for ages 6 Weeks
to 5 Years. It is part of the Y’s mission to provide programs that encourage
healthy development for children. Our child care program brings together a
unique combination of resources to ensure that your child gains the skills and
knowledge to successfully begin kindergarten.
At YMCA Child Care, your child will be active and engaged with highly trained
teachers who understand the importance of quality, guided play in every
child’s development.
Our Mission-Driven Approach to Child Care
Providing quality, affordable care for your children is not just a business to
us. It is our mission - a vital part of our commitment to the community. It is
an approach that includes unique programs to make sure kids stay motivated
intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. We strive to deliver the
program in a safe and positive YMCA environment. The YMCA is driven by
community need, guided by community volunteers and open to all.
Subject to available resources, no person is denied participation in a YMCA
program solely due to financial inability to pay the fee.
Philosophy
Our Early Learning Center recognizes that play is children’s work, and
that providing a rich environment where creative play promotes cognitive,
emotional, physical and social development is critical to your child’s health.
Our program is language rich, with emphasis on offering the children prereading and pre-writing experiences that will spark a lifelong love of language.
Our staff develops character activities that reflect the YMCA emphasis on
honesty, caring, responsibility and respect.

Target Core Workout
Yoga
Most popular exercises, such as running and cycling, focus on the lower body.
Having a solid core creates a foundation for all activities, and is especially
important when you add a heavy load, such as weights to your workout. The
instructor will lead participants through core exercises that create balance
between the muscles of the abdomen and the back.
This class employs the most widely practiced form of yoga, Hatha. Hatha
yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and
sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. Best for
beginners, in this class students will perform poses one at a time with a “rest”
in between. More experienced students will be equally challenged. Hatha yoga
helps you to develop strength and flexibility, as you bring attention to breath,
which helps to calm and to focus the mind.

Have your Special Event at the YMCA
Annual Support Campaign
More than just a facility for individuals and families, we have nearly 100,000
square feet that can meet the needs for nearly any special event you can
imagine! In addition to our gym we have two pools, a black box theatre and a
beautiful multipurpose lounge. These are just some of the spaces available for
your next rental.
The YMCA Annual Campaign is a massive effort by YMCA volunteers and staff
aimed at raising funds to support hopes and dreams, to inspire the positive
change we all want to see in the world. All year long, gifts to the Annual
Campaign make a true difference in the lives of children and adults who have
the need or desire to participate in YMCA programs, but simply cannot afford
to do so.
Call to arrange you Private Birthday Party or Special Event at the Boll Family
YMCA. We offer a variety of options to meet the needs of your group.

How Can You Make an Impact?
•You can invest in a child who is learning to swim, practicing core values
in youth sports programs or making new friends at YMCA Camp. Your
investment will yield a child who is a little safer, a little wiser and having a
lot more fun!
•You can give a teen the opportunity to learn leadership skills and build
relationships through YMCA teen programs.
•You can allow families to have peace of mind by giving them access to the
YMCA, a safe, family-oriented place where people of all ages relax, play and
connect.
•You can share the YMCA with others in the community who can benefit
from programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body.
By contributing to the Y’s Annual Campaign, you are making a difference in the
life of a child today and in our community for tomorrow.
