Our Speakers
ROD LATHIM uses the arts to affect social change. He is
an innovative activist who has created organizations and
landmark cultural facilities, including the Marjorie Luke
Theatre and the award-winning Access Theatre. In 2012,
the SB County Board of Supervisors and the SB Arts Commission honored Lathim with the “Leadership in the Arts
Award” for his significant contributions to the arts and
culture of SB County. He is an acclaimed writer, director
and producer of theatre, assemblage artist, and a soughtafter administrator and manager. www.rodlathim.com.
JOHN DALY, a SB resident for over 20 years, worked as a
high-end special events designer with clients ranging from
Presidents to world leaders and film stars. Locally, he founded the Key Class LLC, which teaches career etiquette, job
hunting techniques, and interviewing skills to young adults
and veterans. In addition to serving as the Key Club President, Daly works closely with Partners in Education, The
Work Force Investment Board, as well as the United Way
and the CADA teen court program.www.thekeyclass.com
LOUISE MCKAIG is a high-end and luxury real estate agent in
SB and Montecito as well as a nationally acclaimed business
coach. After earning her bachelor’s degree from UCSB in Business-Economics, McKaig started and owned business ranging
from food service to international learning and language programming. She will speak about thinking creatively yet strategically and forming meaning business relationships. Louise has raised 3 children with successful Hollywood careers
giving them skills to build successful and fulfilling careers.

JULIA MCHUGH’s 25-year career has included consulting
work with arts and environmental organizations in the SB
and San Francisco regions. She is now the Public Relations Director of the SB Zoo and a professor at SB City College (from
opera to ostriches). She will share promotion skills applicable
to young artists in the evolving technological age...what you
need to get the word out about your work.

JUNIKO MOODY AND MARK SAWICKI are Co-Chairs of
the Animation Department at the New York Film Academy
in Los Angeles. Moody has worked with Disney, Sony Imageworks, Kodak Cinesite, and Warner Digital, while Sawicki has experience working on blockbuster films such as
X-Men, The Dark Knight, and The Terminator. He is an expert in Claymation and will demonstrate how it works. They
will talk about career options and the future in animation.
JEFF SHELTON is an award winning, locally- based architect.
His playful designs have been featured in various publications and include El Andaluz, Ablitt House, and Cota Street
Studios. Shelton received the Santa Barbara Beautiful Award
numerous times, the George Washington Smith Award,
and the Sunset Magazine 2002 Western Home Award for
his contributions to the arts and culture in Santa Barbara.
PATRICIA L. FRANK is Director of Design and Technology for
the Department of Theatre Arts at SBCC. She has taught courses
in Stagecraft, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Scenography and
Theatre Appreciation for over 25 years. She is the primary designer for The Theatre Group at SBCC and an award-winning
designer, who has worked on over 100 theatrical productions.
Pat also worked in the broadcast industry serving as an Art
Director for a Midwest television station. Pat received
her MFA in Visual Arts in 1984 and her MA in Dramatic Arts in 1985. http://www.sbcc.edu/theatrearts/
JULIE McLEOD is the founder, director of Art Without Limits.
She served as Executive Director of SB Dance Alliance, where she
produced over 100 concerts while maintaining SB studio, Dance
Warehouse for 20 years. She is the driving force behind this year’s
Art Career Day Conference. She studied dance with Martha
Graham, Jose Limon and Anthony Tudor at Juilliard in NY, was
in the original cast of West Side Story on B’way and toured with
Yul Brynner in King and I. She has served on many boards of
nonprofits and community organizations. Julie has nurtured
many budding artists, hence her inspiration for Art Without Limits’ one-on-one mentorships to keep the arts alive.
