The Interiors Section of Smithsonian Gardens
designs, installs, and maintains tropical and
flowering plant displays for public areas inside
the Smithsonian museums. These displays
include tropical plant exhibits, flower
arrangements, tabletop dish gardens, holiday
decorations, and an annual Orchid Exhibit. Each
composition helps to highlight museum
exhibits, define spaces, and provide a pleasant
experience for the visitor. Plants are selected for
their cultural appropriateness and educational
value. They are supplied by the Smithsonian
Gardens’ Greenhouses, where they are
maintained and rotated on a regular basis.
