article with a GMC Napco. Speaking
of Jim Carter they asked to do a story
about my ‘57 and it is “Truck of the
Month” for August. Check it out (see
website: http://www.oldchevytrucks.
com). Paul also put my story in the last
issue of our newsletter.
I understand there were a few GMCs at
the convention. It sure would be nice if
we could have a bunch more one day.
PREZ SEZ
Hello GMC Truck Chapter members!
The POCI Convention has come and
gone. Thanks to Paul and Steve for
taking care of business at the annual
meeting. Sorry that I was not able to
make it again. Life just keeps getting
in the way of fun!
The local car shows have slowed down
a bit here in Oklahoma because of the
heat, but I still get the ‘57 out whenever I get a chance. It is pretty awesome with the comments and looks I
get when I do have the truck out.
There has been some other GMC
Napcos making an appearance lately
like the one on eBay they are asking
$55,000 and I was told by Jim Carter
of Carter Truck Parts about a magazine
Thanks again to Paul for his work with
the newsletter, Ron for taking care of
the finances!
We appreciate our members supporting
the chapter- we are over a 100 strong
and growing more!
So once again if you make any shows
or have something happening with
your own GMC, please forward the information to Paul to share with us in
the newsletter.
Take care all and show off those GMC
trucks!
David Bailey,
GTC Prez.

Out & About
West Michigan AACA CAR SHOW
The West Michigan AACA held it’s annual
car show at Millennium Park in Grand Rapids on June 10, 2015. GMC was the brand
to be recognized at this show. With it being
held at a community park things didn’t work
out quite as well as they had hoped with the
parking of the GMCs in a group. There were
a few cars already parked prior to the start of
the show by other guests of the park. But at
least one of them was a GMC Acadia.
Among the GMCs were a few modified trucks,
a Caballero, a motor home, the Futurliner and a
nearly 100-year-old truck. Not a bad representation of vehicles.

Thanks for submitting the story and photos Paul! Editor

What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Take some photos and send in
a short write up about the car shows and cruises that you attend. We all enjoy

GMC CCKW’s
Some neat GMC war ads & photos on this site:
www.gmccckw.nl/tekstpagina’s/textpages_ENG/index_ENG.htm
The Introduction to the site states:
“Nice to meet you on this site dedicated to GMC trucks of the CCKW type. I guess most
of you will associate the CCKW with the Second World War. However, my own memories go back to the fairground in front of the house where I was born in 1957. In the week
ahead of every second weekend of August our village was visited by a couple of CCKW’s
transporting the showmen’s materials. As a kid I fell in love with these trucks at first sight.
This site provides information on the history and technical background of the CCKW, refers to more detailed sources, includes a data base of the over 260 miniature scale models,
and allows you to enjoy my own collection in scales of 1/87 to 1/1.”
Thanks to John Sawruk, Jr for sharing this site, tons of info and photos on the
CCKW GMCs, and for the article and photos on the facing page- Editor

Hi Paul...I enjoyed reading the note from Don Meyer about the GMC / Pontiac connection, with buses being built on the PMD assembly lines.
Here is an article & photos from a General Motors newsletter dated February 1956.
It is interesting how many plant fires are noted back in 1952!

TOW LIKE A PRO.
Precision. It’s what makes us Professional Grade. Precision you’ll find in our
belief that good is a world away from great. And precision you’ll find in the
2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Crew Cab, which offers a maximum fifth-wheel or
gooseneck trailer weight rating of up to 22,900 lbs.* A meticulously engineered
available Duramax 6.6L V-8 Turbo Diesel gets Sierra HD up to speed with 765 lb-ft
of torque. And an integrated trailer brake controller works seamlessly with
ABS to ensure that stopping is just as precise. When it comes to towing the
big loads, the pros know: precision matters.
THE NEW GMC SIERRA DENALI HD. THAT’S PROFESSIONAL GRADE.

Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully
review the trailering section of the Owner’s Manual. The
weight of passengers, cargo and options or accessories

GTC Library
Thanks to POCI member Paul O’Toole for donating a stack of GMC factory
sales/spec sheeet from 1971-77. I guess I’ll need to start a “GMC Truck Chapter
Library”. I will provide a listing of what is available in an upcoming issue of the
GMC Times. There is some interesting stuff, from pickups to heavy duty trucks,
campers, even a promotional handout for the “Gentleman Jim” GMC pickup.
