The light weight manifold has a smart design which enables an easy and neat installation. The high-quality raw material used in the components guarantees a good protection against corrosion and a high resistance to pressure. The manifold is delivered fully assembled and is equipped with; • • • • • • • Integrated thermometers Connections for underfloor heating pipes Integrated thermostat Balancing valves on each loop Manual air vents and filling connections. Straight or angled ball valves DIN-rail on which the control unit with tranformer is mounted Valves and side-pieces are assembled in the factory which means that no additional assembly is required. The manifold comes with connections mounted on the left side as standard, but can easily be switched to a right-sided installation by moving the thermometer to the connection on the back. Certifierad ISO 9001 ISO 14001 1(4) Thermotech underfloor heating system Installation guide Thermotech underfloor heating manifold Things to consider before installing mounting In order to achieve the best performance the manifold should be installed central in the underfloor heating system. As the manifold is equipped with manual air vents it should always be installed at the highest point of the system. When we plan your underfloor heating system we calculate the flow, pressure fall and different flow temperatures that are needed to cover the heat needed for the rooms. We then adjust the underfloor heating system according to these calculations. The enclosed screws can be used to mount the manifold onto the wall or to build it in the wall (see last page for built-in measures). Accessories The best financial efficiency and comfort is achieved by installing separate room controls. The room thermostats control the actuators on the manifold, which in turn control the temperature in each room. View the installation guides IG 401 or 404 for further information. We also offer a lockable manifold cabinet that allows the manifold and controls to be encased for safety or to enhance the installation aesthetically. Switching from left-sided to rightsided connection The manifold comes with connections mounted on the left side as standard, but can easily be switched to a right sided installation by following this procedure: A.Dismount the thermometers on both manifold extensions. B.Unscrew the consoles and loosen the manifold extensions. C.Swap places of the immersion sensor of the thermo- meter with the plug on the back. Both have O-ring sealing. D.Remount the manifold extensions and thermometers on the consoles. A B C D 2(4) If using reinforcing bars to aid the mounting of the manifold during the constructing period, these should be demounted when then the manifold is installed at its ordinary place. Protective piping around the reinforcing bars makes the demounting process easier. After demounting, fill the holes left by the reinforcing bars with an appropriate material. The manifold must not have any direct contact with the concrete slab. heat conducting medium Drinking water should be used as heat conducting medium and normally don’t need to be alcalised. At any risk of freezing, use antifreeze fluid when filling up the system. Follow respective supplier’s instructions for the proper mix of antifreeze fluid in the heat conducting medium. We recommend a mixture where maximum 30% glycol is used. A higher mixture may damage the heating system components. It’s important that all components in the system has a secure oxygen diffusion barrier. Intrusion of oxygen in the system can result in a shorter life time of the system’s moving parts due to corrosion. Filling and draining To secure the best draining, please follow these procedures to fill the system with water: A.Mount the manifold B.Connect all loops and close all except one. Also close the ball valves. C.Connect one pipe to the filling valve another one to the draining valve. Open the valves and flush water through the loop until there is no air left. D.Repeat step C for each loop. Remember to close the valves for each loop that is filled. When the loops are filled with water they have to be opened to let the last air in the manifold extension to be drained through the manual or automatic air vents. Note! It is important to close the draining valves when all air has been removed from the system. Thermotech underfloor heating system Installation guide System tightness test Thermotech underfloor heating manifold A B C D E F When the underfloor heating system is filled and drained of air it has to be tightness tested to ensure that is it fully sealed. This is done by putting the system under 1.43 times the normal pressure according to VVS AMA 98, which means 3-4 bar pressure for at least two hours. Use the supplied protocol to document the procedure. Note! Testing with air or gas poses considerable risks for the personal safety and requires that the person who will perform the test are accredited. Mounting of bypass The bypass is installed when the system is filled with water and drained of air. The bypass is installed between the flow and return extensions on the filling and draining valves. After installing the bypass, one of the filling valves should be opened 3 revolutions and the other one should be opened fully. Mounting of DIN-rail for the control unit A.Turn the holds that are going to support the DIN-rail and fasten them by using an Allen key. B.Mount the DIN-rail on the bolts of the holds and fasten them. A Adjustment of flow In order to get the right amount of water to circulate in each loop, each loop’s balancing valves has to be set according to the adjustment table that comes with the system. This should be done out after the system is filled and the tightness testing is completed. A.Loosen the balancing valve’s plastic cover with a 5 mm Allen key B.Close the lower brass seat by turning it clockwise with a 5 mm Allen key C.Screw the plastic ring anticlockwise with a 6 mm Allen key. Note: Do not unscrew it fully!. D.Open the lower brass seat, anticlockwise, according to the number of revolutions (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0…) found in the projects adjustment table. Note! The rpm should not go below 2, but exceptions may occur. E. Screw the plastic ring clockwise to lock the brass seat F. Close the balancing valve’s plastic cover with a 5 mm Allen key B Mounting of actuators A.Dismount the manual wheel. B.Screw the actuator’s metal nut on the thermostatic valve while the actuator is held in the correct position.
