The Ceremony…
The Brehon is ideally suited to host your Civil Ceremony, relax and enjoy the moments
that will live with you forever in luxurious surroundings
We can cater for Civil Ceremonies from 2 – 200 guests in a selection of spaces throughout
the hotel.
The Brehon Banqueting Suite is perfect for your larger civil ceremonies and can cater for
up to 200 guests. Located on the fourth floor of The Brehon boasting stunning views of
the National Park., ‘The Park Suite’ comfortably holds 80 guests. Or alternatively use our
private room located on the ground floor for a smaller party.
The Brehon is a magically romantic setting at any time of the year, however in the winter it
is especially enchanting, boasting the tallest Christmas tree in Killarney, perfect for every
photo album.
The Brehon has full HSE approval to host Civil Ceremonies and same sex Civil

Catholic Ceremony
The priest will help you arrange a date for the wedding and advise you of the requirements
for marrying in a Catholic Church. You must give at least three months notice of your
intention to marry to the priest and undertake a pre-marriage course, visit www.accord.ie
for details of pre-marriage courses available throughout Ireland.

Church of Ireland Ceremony
The rector of the church in which you intend to marry will advise you on the requirements you
must comply with. The banns (intention to marry) will be read out in the parishes of the
parties for three consecutive Sundays prior to the marriage. Then the rector will give a
certificate of banns. There will be a fee for this. The rector will advise you of which type of
licence is appropriate and how to go about obtaining the correct one. There are two types Ordinary Licence or Special Licence. You should give your rector enough notice so that the
requirements for marriage can be fulfilled in order for you to get married.

The Reception…
You have an option of our beautiful Mezzanine Lounge, located on the 1 st floor overlooking
our reception area. Alternatively Our Banqueting Suite boasts its own exclusive foyer. The
Suite flows out into the foyer area and is the ideal place for a welcoming cocktail reception.
Both areas are exclusive to parties using the Banqueting Suite for their wedding and privacy is
guaranteed.
While your guests anticipate your arrival, below are some options they can enjoy, our inclusive

The Last Supper & The Day After…
As you may not want your wedding to last just a day, we have the facilities to cater for your
Wedding Party both before and after your special day. Private Dining options are available,
as well as private areas for you to socialise and enjoy drinks, on the day before and day after
your Wedding. A reduced A La Carte menu is available in Danú Restaurant or for
something a little less formal enjoy an extensive Buffet or some nibbles in our Brehon
Basement Bar, options are available for Pre & Post Wedding Parties. Please ask your
wedding co-ordinator for details.
With all the formalities and excitement of the big day behind you, saying goodbye can be
hard so why not soften the blow by taking a day to rest and relax. Start off with a
sumptuous breakfast in our award winning Danú Restaurant and the decide whether to lie
in front of the open fires or join your remaining guests for some drinks in the Brehon Bar.

into sleep and you will greet the morning refreshed and renewed. In choosing The Brehon
as your Wedding Venue, you are ensuring that your guests will enjoy a comfortable &

Hotel.

Terms & Conditions…

Once you have chosen a day, we can hold this as a provisional booking for 14 days without
obligation. To secure the date, a deposit of €2,000 is required. We release provisional
bookings after 14 days without notification.
-
A further €2,000 is required six months prior to your wedding date.
-
Approximate numbers will be discussed during initial discussions and more realistic
numbers must be confirmed 2 weeks before your date; any subsequent changes can be
made 72hrs before the meal. This will be the minimum you will be charged for on the day.
In the event of an increase in numbers the excess will be charged, provided we have the
space to cater for this.

Payment must be made before departure from the hotel in cash or bank draft unless
otherwise agreed by the hotel.
-
Only food & beverages purchased on the premises may be consumed on the premises,
(with exception of Wedding cake).
-
It is Hotel Policy that the main lobby may not be used for drinks receptions.
-
Full details of function (menu, drinks, wine etc) should be furnished one month in
advance. Table plans will be accepted no later than 3 days in advance.

Should you wish to sample your wedding menu, you can reserve a tasting with the wedding
co-ordinator. Choices must be made a minimum of two weeks in advance of tasting.
Wedding tastings are available Sunday- Thursday only.

Prices are subject to change up to a maximum of 10% as a result of any extraordinary
increases in cost.

Weddings must be seated no later than 5.45pm so the hotel can concentrate all our
resources on ensuring that your meal is of the highest quality.

Our Banqueting Suite can cater for no more than 200 people. Our Private Dining room
can cater for 70 people, should your numbers exceed this we cannot guarantee comfort or
our highest standard of service.

The hotel accepts no responsibility for the booking of entertainment or other outside
suppliers.

The Bar stays open for the wedding party until 2am. Music must cease at 2am also. The
residents’ bar is open until 3.30am. The residents’ bar is a room charge bar; no cash
transactions will be taken. The bar closing times are strictly adhered to.

The Hotel will not undertake responsibility for Wedding gifts or cards. A member of the
Bridal party can access the safe in their room.

If booked by a third party, the hotel reserves the right to cancel the booking. The bride
and Groom must meet the hotel manger when making the booking and sign the terms and
conditions.

Minimum spend on food per person is €50.00. Any package under €50.00 incurs a room
hire.
-
Private Dining Room: Should weddings in the Private Dining Room require a full bar in
the room there is a €300 surcharge.
-
No Service charge applies. All gratuities are donated to the employee’s sports and social
fund.
In the event of cancellation every effort will be made to re-let the room. The following
conditions apply
- Notification of cancellation must be in writing
- All deposits will be forfeited in full unless the facilities are resold
- Cancellation made within 3 months of the wedding will require full payment

Sign wedding Terms & Conditions with your wedding co-ordinator.
Book your church or other ceremony venue. The Brehon have a number of options for
facilitating your ceremony.
Post your Brehon “Save the Date” cards. If you have not received these, please email
guestrelations@thebrehon.com to request postage.
A list of Wedding Vendors can be found in your wedding package.
7 -9 Months

For all your reservation needs, please contact our Front Office Manager Gina Lawlor at
ginal@thebrehon.com. Please ask your guests to contact our central reservations office on
064 6630700 and ask for our guaranteed wedding rate.
4 -6 Months


A further €2,000 is required six months prior to your wedding date.
Organise Bridal Shower with you maid of honour – ask your wedding Co-ordinator for
Details of “The Brehon Bridal Shower”.
2 -3 Months


Contact your wedding co-ordinator to arrange a date to sample your wedding menu &
finalise all function details.
Book rehearsal dinner and post wedding party with The Brehon.
1 Month

Begin writing a seating plan
Purchase bridal party gifts. The Brehon offer a selection of gifts, vouchers & hampers to
choose from.
Contact all wedding day vendors & confirm details
Chair covers may be ordered by your wedding co-ordinator
1-2 Weeks

Finalise seating plan. Email or fax to hotel no later than 5 days before.
Choose from a range of pre-wedding treatments at the Angsana Spa at The Brehon.

Deliver Cake, Favours, Guest Book and Overnight Bags to The Brehon.

