GREG LLOYD MUSIC SCHOOL HOW TO PLAY 25 POP SONGS WITH 4 CHORDS. I - V - VI - IV - ( 1 - 5 - 6 - 4 ) IN ORIGINA L KEYS of the band or artist. This lesson has a list of 25 Pop Songs that use the I - V - VI - IV chord progression. The first 6 tracks use the I - V - VI - IV throughout the whole song. The rest of the songs use the I - V - VI - IV pattern somewhere in the song and add in a few other chords to vary up the song. There are lot of videos out there that show you how to play the I - V - VI - IV pattern and which songs use this pattern. This lesson will do this too and additionally this lesson will show you the KEYS each song is in! When I was first learning about chords it was hard to move away from C and when those sharps and flats appeared I started to freak out. I found it hard to play the songs in more difficult keys like Gb or E major. I’ve often found that the bands/artists do their songs in the hardest key possible. I used to think they were doing this on purpose. I later found out that it's all to do with the range of the voice and instrument - a song must always suit the vocal line. But at the time when I was starting off, this used to frustrate me. Anyway, this is why I did this lesson in the original keys as the more chords you know the more you can use them again later in other songs. I want to try and show you that you can move into the other keys! If you are willing to sing the vocal line of each song and you play the chords written out in this chapter you will be playing 25 pop songs. Right now! Plus you can jam along with the artist/band! I have written all the chords in root position for now. I know the recordings are using the different inversions of the chords and I will show you how to play a few of the songs with the correct inversion soon. Perhaps you could let me know which song out of the 25 you would like me to show you how to play the precise way? Please leave a comment on the website or email me at: greg@greglloydmusicschool.com. I did all the songs in root position to make the songs easy to play.
