These notes record our understanding of items discussed and decisions made at this meeting. Please notify us within seven (7) calendar days of any necessary additions or corrections. Jason welcomed the group and reviewed the Agenda for today’s meeting. Jason asked if anyone had prepared their homework from the April 19th Meeting “What does learning look like to you?” Staff shared homework related to Fine Arts (attached). Jason reminded staff that they still had until the end of the school year to submit their homework. Information should be submitted to jlembke@legat.com Jason reviewed presentation to staff about trends in education today, multiple pathways to 21st Century Education, what other countries are doing, concepts related to S.T.E.M., and images of 21st Century Education environments. Group talked about what they felt they were preparing students to be: • Computer Programmers/ Technicians • Artist • Healthcare/ Sports Med • Musician • Conductor • Actor Group broke into Core Curriculum focus areas for discussion. Summary is as follows: GROUP 5 DRIVERS ED Glenbard Township High School District 87 2011 Facilities Master Plan Meeting Minutes May 3, 2011 Page 2 of 7 SOUTH • Common office spaces to promote collaboration • Update to simulators/ depends on state direction EAST • • • Goof physical classroom space Need meetings space for staff/ student conference Newer simulators/ old technology WEST • Classroom/ simulators located at district office! NORTH • Large room/ better suited for health • Simulator space adequate P.E. • • • • Capacity 47-48 students (vary between 40-48) Need classroom space/ could double as team room +/- 40 students o CPS technology o Power point o Video review o Smart boards o Marker board o Used for testing o Used for Assessments Note: (currently held in gymnasium space) Limited storage space o Indoor track o Wrestling o Gymnastics o Cheerleading o All sports Locker space (boy’s & girl’s) o PE and athletic o Girls lacking more so o PE full with small next to it LOCKER ROOMS Glenbard Township High School District 87 2011 Facilities Master Plan Meeting Minutes May 3, 2011 Page 3 of 7 • • • Students need access during the day (card access?) Separation of athletic/ P.E. locker rooms Need more multi-use space o Gym, basketball, batting cages, volley ball o Practices run until 9:00 PM (winter/spring) EAST/SOUTH • Outdoor multi-use surface (Turf at stadium) o P.E. classes can’t go outside – too wet East – 1960/70 weight/ room too small • Equipment is crammed in • Access only through fitness center • Shared with special needs North dedicated athletic entry/separates from general student entry NON-TRADITIONAL SPACES EAST • • • Cafeteria tables in hallway/floor Cannot fit student body in gym Overall appearance of school (dated 50+ years) o Assemblies • All space for team teaching/ presentations/ guest speakers • Multipurpose space for: o P.E.; Drwers Ed; Health; Athletics • At main entry (door) congested at passing periods o Need alternative routes OUTDOOR SPACE • • • Storage/ storage/storage o All sports Field drainage/ leveling Location for A.E.D.
