Linton’s Enchanted Gardens
Downtown Elkhart has seen many transformations over the last century, and currently seems to
be enjoying a renaissance not yet visible in many other communities, along Main Street, USA. The
freshly renovated Lerner Theatre and a host of new eateries have done more for the heart of the city

Twenty years have gone by since I started my agency right here in Elkhart, Indiana. This is the

Center for Hospice Care is honored to be your first choice in hospice care. Last year, we cared for
1,993 patients, the most we have cared for in our 33-year history. Mission-driven quality care,
remarkable clinical skills capacity, and a focus on charity are the hallmarks of Center for Hospice
Care and its Hospice Foundation. Today, with 221 professional staff and 500 devoted volunteers, we
believe there is no other local organization more proficient or more experienced at providing high
quality, patient and family-centered care at the end of life.
In 2013, Center for Hospice Care became a Level Four “We Honor Veterans” partner. To reach
this highest pinnacle level, we focused on increasing access to and improving the quality of
care Veterans received throughout our eight-county service area by increasing the integration of
Veteran-specific education for staff and volunteers, evaluating and growing our Veteran-to-Veteran
Volunteer Program, developing resources to help our Veterans and their families’ access benefits and
implement better ways to improve care and service to veterans and their families throughout our
organization. Nationally, there are nearly 2,000 “We Honor Veterans” hospice program partners and
at the time of CHC’s designation, only 96 have achieved Level 4. “We Honor Veterans” is a national
hospice provider awareness program conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the
National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
During 2013 Center for Hospice Care recruited 71 new dedicated, trained community volunteers,
bringing the total of active volunteers to 500. Volunteer hours totaled 17,310, saving our agency
$402,413. Our dedicated volunteers drove 42,599 miles to serve our patients and families. We
encourage you to join our devoted volunteer team.

When you think of INOVA, you may not realize this $250 million credit union started out in 1942
with just $35 in a 300-square-feet corner in the Miles Corporation plant in Elkhart, Ind. The seven

cooperative financial services.
In 1976, recognizing the need to grow in order to meet the expanding needs of our members, the credit
union moved to a 4,000-square-feet facility on Beardsley Avenue in Elkhart. In 1988, our space underwent
a major renovation that added another 16,000 square feet to that building.
In 2005, we moved into our newly constructed corporate office in downtown Elkhart. While this spacious
new building is currently 40,000 square feet, the credit union has long-term plans to expand the four-story
building to nearly 80,000 square feet as the needs of our members grow.
Today, we are proud to accommodate more than 500 companies and over 29,000 members with branches
in three states. In addition, we have 5000 service centers and 35,000 free ATMs nationwide, online
banking, and electronic bill pay for even greater convenience. “The vision that started our credit union

How to Choose the Right Carwash:
Not all carwashes are created equal, says Tehrani, President of Drive & Shine chain of locally
owned carwashes.
“Most carwashes are less than 80 feet long and have $100,000 worth of wash equipment. Our
carwashes are 200 feet long and include up to $1 million dollars in wash equipment alone,” he says.
“What that means for the customer is a non-compromising carwash that cleans every corner of the
vehicle to perfection and bone-dries the car.”
Smaller carwash tunnels rely on aggressive cloth material to create extra friction for cleaning, which
will leave small swirl-type scratches on the car’s painted surface.
“These washes also use strong acids as soap to compensate for lack of necessary wash equipment
needed to get the car washed safely,” Tehrani says. “These acids are so strong that they gradually
remove the clear coat off the paint, making your car dull forever.”
The acids also etch the windshield, decay rubber components of the vehicle and are dangerous to
breathe. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is most commonly used in small carwash tunnels. The Material
Safety Data Sheet lists HF as poisonous and corrosive. The sad thing is that this acid makes its way
back to our natural resources.
Instead choose a carwash that has long tunnels with lots of equipment and that uses no cloth on any
of the rotational cleaning unit.
“At Drive & Shine, we use as much as four times the amount of carwash equipment compared to the
shorter carwash tunnels, making it unnecessary to rely on strong acids such as HF or aggressive
cloth to clean cars,” Tehrani says.
“We got into the carwash business because we love cars and we wanted a safe place to clean our
own cars,” he says. “To make the wash much safer, Drive & Shine uses a foam-like material instead
of cloth. It is so soft that it cannot ever scratch a car.”
Protect your vehicle by detailing the inside of your car at least once a year and waxing the
outside every three months. Wax acts as a barrier to the harsh elements your car comes in contact
with.

from 9-24 feet long. Store hours are Mon-Sat 10-7 and Sun 10-4. High quality, not seconds.
