Will Cell Phone Towers inside the Copperfield Area Lead to Urban Blight or do they Just Spoil the View? Cell phone tower corporations are succeeding in placing cell phone towers within the Copperfield area, even though it violates deed restrictions, and the architectural character of the Copperfield area. Resident’s opinion and existing statutes have been overlooked as cell phone corporations are approaching the local school district, commercial property associations, and homeowner associations to place cell phone towers inside the Copperfield area. Successfully placing towers in a Wheatstone commercial area (YMCA) and in Copperfield’s Southdown Village, on an elementary school grounds, one might ask, who is really benefiting from these smoke-stack looking structures? Residents, who purchased homes in the master planned communities of the Copperfield area, were made aware of deed restrictions limiting structures on their property. Many of the same deed restrictions also apply to the commercial and school district properties. The constant here is that the Copperfield area has an architectural character that cell phone towers aesthetically violate. The green-belts and low commercial signage along SH 6 and the major boulevards throughout the Copperfield area has brought the Copperfield area notoriety from City and County officials. Being a well planned community with standards that support property values, as well as offering a pleasing environment, the Copperfield area continually attracts home buyers. The residents of the Copperfield area are proud of their well maintained master planned communities and their architectural character, and they should be consulted to decide if smokestack looking cell phone towers are what they want for their community. Residents should contact their Copperfield area homeowner and commercial associations if they do not want to see more cell phone towers, and want to have those towers that have been erected taken down when their leases expire. The Copperfield Coalition has posted an on-line poll at www.copperfieldcoalition.org.
