The town plays host to musicians, visitors and locals who all want to enjoy the festival, atmosphere and summer warmth of August days and nights. Supporting them and based from Albion Street Car Park will be Thanet District Councils Licensing, Environmental Health, Community Safety and Events Team as well as the Kent Police, Community Pastors, Civil Enforcement Officers and other organisations. They are all friendly and happy to help if you need some information or assistance. Feedback Alcohol Consumption in Public Places The Designated Public Places Order (DPPO) came into effect in Thanet in 2006. It specifically deals with the consumption of alcohol in public places. This means that the Police have more power to deal with NO DRINKING IN groups or individuals PUBLIC PLACES who are found drinking, which they think could lead to anti-social or criminal behaviour. These powers include confiscations, arrest or being fined. DRINKING FROM OR POSSESSING A CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL IN ANY PUBLIC AREA WITHIN THANET, WHEN ASKED NOT TO DO SO, MAY LEAD TO AN ARREST AND A FINE OF £500.
