Counties are the core building blocks for healthy, vibrant, and safe communities. Nationwide, counties invest over $100 billion a year in transportation, water systems, and public facilities. They run most of our local jails and courthouses; maintain the largest share of roads; and operate more than 900 public hospitals, countless parks, libraries, firehouses, and 9-1-1 call centers. County transportation and infrastructure are vital to boosting economic competitiveness, moving our food efficiently, and maintaining a strong national defense. The upgrade was implemented in April of 2016. Feedback from customers and County staff has been positive, with indications that the new system is fast and user-friendly. “The Accela permitting software will completely revolutionize how we do business,” said Don Rosenthal, Assistant County Administrator for Development Services. This new program puts all construction and permitting information in one place, making it faster and easier for customers to request services and monitor the progress of their projects. It also allows building inspectors to immediately accept additional service requests in the field. Professional business customers are required to create a free online account to access to the new system. Pasco County is looking forward to the long-term positive impacts of this improvement and hopes customers will continue to provide feedback about their experience with the software. The grassy, overflow boat parking area is being paved, complete with a turnaround loop and marked parking spaces. During construction, the overflow boat parking area will be closed. While work on the boat trailer overflow lot is being done, overflow for cars will be shifted to a different grassy area, leaving the existing overflow car parking lot available for about 50 extra boat trailers. Parking will be limited during this time. It is recommended park visitors arrive early to find a parking spot. Pasco County is looking forward to unveiling a new, improved parking area which will better serve the boating community. The new parking lot is scheduled to open by late July of 2016.
