Install Roof Module 1.1 Safety Notes The AutoFarm system must be powered OFF when installing or removing the roof module. The supplied locking pin or a padlock must be in place whenever the vehicle is in operation. The roof module must be removed when transporting the vehicle at speeds above 30 mph. Make sure that you are in a stable position on the tractor platform when removing the roof module, so that you do not fall or drop the roof module. 1.2 Install the Mounting Rail Remove the cab roof bolts. 1 Align the mounting rail to mounting holes and fasten the mounting rail to the roof. The lettered holes and the dummy cable connector must be on the left side of the tractor. left side of tractor 2 1.3 Mount the Roof Module Slide the roof module into locked position. The cable connection must be on the left side of the tractor, facing the rear. Make sure that the spring lock is in place. locked position 3 Insert and close the locking pin through the holes in the roof module and the mounting rail. Note that a padlock can replace the locking pin. locking pin Attach the radio modem antenna. Note: The antenna should be attached “hand tight” - do not use any tools to tighten the antenna. 4 2. Install the User Terminal 2.1 Assemble and Mount the User Terminal Bracket Remove hole covers from the cab post. threads for mounting bracket Mount the bracket assembly. 5 2.2 Mount and Adjust the User Terminal Attach the adjustable arm to the user terminal. mounting plate Remove the travel stop on the bracket assembly. 6 Install user terminal arm onto the cab bracket. Replace the travel stop. 7 Tighten the arm onto the bracket. Remove adjustment bolt caps. 8 Adjust user terminal arm tightness. Replace adjustment bolt caps and adjust user terminal viewing angle. (Different vehicle shown below.) 9 3. Install the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) 3.1 Mount the Sensor bracket and the Tie Rod bracket. Remove the bolt as shown. Mount the sensor bracket. 10 Mount the linkage bracket. 3.2 Mount the Sensor and Mount and Connect Linkage Arms 11 3.3 Adjust the Sensor and Linkage Arms Adjust linkage arm length and/or linkage bracket position to obtain between 3200 and 3800 counts. Turn the wheels all the way in both directions to make sure the linkage arms can move without interference. Note: This step is done during the calibration and tuning steps. 12 4. Assemble and Mount the Hydraulic Valve 4.1 Install the Hydraulic Valve Remove panel cover at the front right side of the cab. Fasten bracket into place. Make sure none of the bracket bolts are in contact with the fuel tank after installation We recommend drilling a third hole through the compartment floor for added support at the spot shown here 13 Use the rectangular washer underneath the floor the back right bolt. Mount the hydraulic valve. 14 5. Install the Hydraulic Hoses 5.1 Route the Hydraulic Hoses Route the return, pressure, and load sense hoses from the AutoSteer hydraulic valve, beneath the cab to the power beyond unit on the back of the tractor. Route “Steer Out” hoses from the AutoSteer valve to the vehicle’s steer cylinder. Route the vehicle’s existing hoses from the vehicle’s steering unit to the AutoSteer valve “Steer In” ports. Note: Secure the hoses with cable ties and be sure they are clear of moving parts and heat sources. 5.2 AutoSteer Valve Port Connections Hydraulic Hose Valve Port Label Steer In (Right) SR Steer In (Left) SL Steer Out (Right) Right Steer Out (Left) Left Pressure P Return T Load Sense LS Pressure Transducer Trans 15 5.3 Connect the Hydraulic Hoses Disconnect the hoses shown below. Reroute and connect them to the AutoSteer valve “Steer In” ports. Note: Use teflon tape to ensure a good seal. Attach the pressure transducer to the 90 degree fitting. Note: Use teflon tape to ensure a good seal. 17 Attach the cable connector from the valve harness to the pressure transducer. pressure transducer cable connector make sure to line up the connectors correctly. do not force the connection. 18 6. Install the SA Module 6.1 Mount the SA Module Bracket Note: It is essential that the SA Module is NOT mounted so that the cable connection is on the top or on the side with the cable going up. 6.2 Mount the SA Module to the Bracket 19 7. Install the Main Cable Harness 7.1 Attach the Main Cable Harness to the User Terminal. 7.2 Attach the Cable to the Power Supply 20 7.3 Attach the Main Cable Harness to the Roof Array Route the cable out of the cab through an existing rubber plug under the left side of rear window. Attach the cable to the roof array. 21 Secure the cable to the roof using the eye clamp. Route the cable down the left side of the cab and secure with cable ties. cable ties 22 8. Install the SA Module Cable Harness 8.1 Attach the Cable to the SA Module Connect the cable to the SA Module. bottom of SA module cable connector locking mechanism in open position Close the cable connector locking mechanism. locked position 23 Note: To disconnect the cable from the SA module, the connector must first be unlocked as shown. pull upwards pinch here 8.2 Connect the SA Module Harness to the Hydraulic Valve Route and secure the steering cable from the SA Module to the hydraulic valve. two connectors 24 8.3 Connect the SA Module Harness to the Wheel Angle Sensor Route and secure the WAS cable from the SA Module to the WAS. Attach the cable to the WAS. 8.4 Attach SA Module Cable Harness to Main Cable Harness Route the SA Module cable into the cab through the rubber plug under the right side of rear window. Attach the harnesses with two connectors. 25 9. Final Checklist Check all hose connections. Check all cable connections. Power up the vehicle and check for hydraulic leaks. Check manual steering. Power up the AutoSteer system and begin the calibration and tuning process. 26
