Sonshine Travel is a family operated business that has been operating
tours throughout Australia and overseas for the past 29 years. We are
delighted to offer you a wonderful tour to Tasmania – known as the Apple
Isle. Included in your tour is pickup and return to your home on the
Sunshine Coast.
First it was all about apples .. but now the Apple Isle’s contribution to
world food extends to premium seafood, cheeses, chocolates, honey and
the list goes on. From the squeaky white sand and lichen-splashed
granite of the east coast to the bleak alpine plateaus of Cradle Mountain,
Tasmania punches well above its weight when it comes to natural beauty.
The often tragic story of the island plays out through its haunting convict
sites: the sublime scenery around Port Arthur only serves to reinforce the
area’s grim history. It’s just as easy to conjure up visions of the raffish
past in Hobart’s Battery Point. Elsewhere, architectural treasures include
the stoic convict-built bridges and Launceston's quality cache of heritage
houses. Meanwhile, the state's ongoing obsession with the (probably)
extinct Tasmanian tiger continues !
Join us for this 11 day tour, and we will show you the best of Tasmania

Launceston-Sheffield-Devonport–Burnie
We commence our Tasmanian holiday by taking in the sights of
Launceston. Right in the centre is City Park with its conservatory and
Monkey Island, then we explore
the beautiful Cataract Gorge. We
take a return ride on one of the
longest single-span chairlifts in the
world. Stroll the peacock gardens
or cross the suspension foot-bridge.
After a great morning, we take the
first of many scenic routes into the
hinterland town of Sheffield where
the local community has recorded
the history of the area in life size
paintings on the town walls.
Wander around and have lunch in this interesting lovely town. On our
drive through to Devonport, we pass the House of Anvers – home of
Belgium Chocolate. Enjoy a short talk and enjoy a real chocolate
sensation, before driving into Devonport for a short tour. This city is
situated at the mouth of the Mersey River and the Bass Strait ferry
Terminal – linking the city to Melbourne. We drive through to
Ulverstone, where we are met by some locals and some Tasmanian
hospitality. Later today, we follow the Bass Highway and scenic coastal
route through Penguin, then into the industrial city of Burnie for our
next 2 nights accommodation.

There are over 14 motor vehicles including the equal oldest Ford in the
world, the 1903 Model A. This toured 58 locations around Australia
covering more than 28,000 kms to celebrate Ford’s centenary year in
2003. From here you will marvel at the breathtaking views from the rich
agricultural Table Cape with it’s
amazing diversity of crops and farms.
Then into the historical village of
Stanley, nestled at the foot of an
ancient volcanic core known as “The
Nut”. Treat yourself to a chairlift ride
