Presenting….. TITO JACKSON It’s difficult to describe in words a career that so far has epitomised the American Dream. Growing up in the Jackson family from their early days in Gary, Indiana to the present day, they are the embodiment of a show business family. Tito Jackson, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson, a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer with a legendary career dating back to 1962, has performed for as long as he can remember. Starting out from the humble beginnings of a local group called The Jackson Brothers, moving on to become the Jackson 5 at Motown Records and then progressing to The Jacksons at Epic Records, Tito Jackson has a solid musical background which establishes him. It was a shrewd move on the part of Motown president Berry Gordy Jr. to publicise that the Jackson brothers were discovered by one of his artists Diana Ross, when in fact it was Gladys Knight who actually discovered these talented artists. In 1975, a move to Epic Records saw the birth of The Jackson, the same group minus Jermaine. The Jacksons scaled incredible heights with such hits as ‘Everybody’ (from Destiny) to the Victory album, on which Tito Jackson produced ‘We Can Change The World’, a popular song on that tour. One of the performing hightlights was a remarkable career reunion of The Jacksons on Motown 25 in which his brother Michael Jackson dazzled the audience with his multi-award winning ‘Billie Jean’, introducing the Moonwalk to the world. Other hits of the group from the Motown days that became recording masterpieces are ‘I Want You Back’, ‘ABC’, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ and ‘I’ll Be There’. Tito also works closely with his three sons Taj, Taryll and TJ, known to the music world as 3T. He also went on to work with his sisters Janet Jackson, Rebbie and La Toya Jackson as well as Gamble & Huff, LA Reid, Baby Face and Howard Hewitt. In his solo career, Tito says ‘We all have a little blues in our lives’. Influenced by some great blues artists such as Albert Collins and B.B. King, the opening of his live performances starts with the Blues, but not the kind that will make you sad, the kind that make you glad. He moves on to a medley of Jackson hits. In the month of July 2009, during the 50th Anniversary of Motown celebrated around the planet by many of it’s artists, Tito Jackson joined Jack Ashford’s Funk Brothers for a remarkable tour of Spain including Alicante, Madrid, Malaga and Marbella. This was particularly poignant given the fact that his brother Michael had just passed away in June. When asked why he would be performing at such a time, his exact words were ‘Michael would have wanted me to honour my commitment’. In October, his long time friend and mentor Gladys Knight performed in the United Kingdom at a two week arena farewell tour and Tito Jackson opened for her, introducing his Bowler Band. Now you can experience the fullness of this complete historical show from the Blues, to the Jacksons and beyond. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ Discography • 1962 • 1976 ALL OF THE JACKSON 5 ALBUMS ALL OF THE JACKSONS ALBUMS MOTOWN RECORDS EPIC RECORDS ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ YELLOW GO-RILLA PRODUCTIONS LTD. 52 Gover Court • Paradise Road • London SW4 6QN • ℡ 020 7720 5224 • 020 7720 7958 EMAIL: dennis@yellowgo-rilla.com WEBSITE: www.yellowgo-rilla.com
