HIGHLIGHTS: The trip winds
along the Heffley Louis Creek Road,
running almost parallel to the Yellowhead Highway, following the scenic
North Thompson River. The area was hit hard by wildfires in 2003 but
the recovery of new growth is beautiful.

ALTERNATE ROUTE
Instead of heading to Barriere, stop in McLure (43kms / 26 miles
from Kamloops) and cross the North Thompson River using the
McLure Ferry off of Highway 5 on the east side of the river. The
ferry operates daily from 7a – 12p and 1p to 6:20p (last trip).
There is no service during high water or winter freeze up.

ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Take the Barriere Town Road to Highway 5.
Take the 3rd right onto Highway 5 and follow Westsyde Road to
Westside Barriere Road. Take Westsyde Road to Noble Lake Road and
continue on to take McQueen Lake Branch No. 3 Road to Lac Du Bois
Road. Turn left on Lac Du Bois Road.
HIGHLIGHTS: Privato Vineyard & Winery and Woodward Christmas
Tree Farm are located along Westsyde Road, a great place to stop for a
tour. Westsyde Centennial Park is also a great place to stretch the legs
and check out the Little Farmers Petting Zoo.

HIGHLIGHTS: So many opportunities to see wildlife and birds native to
the area. McGillivray Lake is spectacular. Check out the Outpost where
there’s parking, a dock, boat launch and other facilites - a great place to
stretch the legs.

Kamloops to Chase.

ROUTE: Shuswap Road East
DISTANCE: 58 kms / 36 miles

ROUTE: Loakin-Bear Creek Road > Sun Peaks Road
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head northwest on Coburn Street toward
Okanagan Ave. Turn left onto Shuswap Ave, right onto Pine Street and
continue onto Kamloops-Shuswap Road and then straight on LoakinBear Creek Road. Turn left onto Sun Peaks Road and follow it to Sun
Balfour
HIGHLIGHTS: Heading back to Kamloops, this route runs parallel to
the Trans Canada Highway 1. There are several bridges to cross to
get back to the Trans Canada Highway instead at Pritchard or Lafarge,
though this backroad route is beautiful. See towering silt bluffs, osprey
and eagle nests, vineyards and grasslands.

DISTANCE: 57 kms / 35 miles
DISTANCE: 48 kms / 30 miles
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head east on Alpine Road towards Creekside
Way. Turn right on Creekside Way and continue on Sun Peaks Road.
Take a slight left on Heffley Louis Creek Road and continue onto
Tod Mountain Road. Turn right onto Old Highway 5 and left again on
Highway 5 (Yellowhead) heading to Kamloops.
HIGHLIGHTS: Watch for deer in this area as they are plentiful. Pass
towering alpine trees and mountain lakes and as descending down the
hill foliage turns to more deciduous trees, spectacular in the fall.
4. PRITCHARD > SUN PEAKS
DISTANCE: 41 kms / 25 miles
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 25 minutes
ROUTE: Pinantan Rd. > Kamloops/Shuswap Rd. > McGillivray Rd.
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head northwest on Pinantan Rd. toward River
Rd. (cross the South Thompson River, via the Pritchard Bridge). Turn
right to stay on Pinantan Rd., continue for 2 km. Turn right onto
Kamloops-Shuswap Rd. and continue for 8 km. Take a sharp left on
McGillivray Lake Rd. and continue for 3 km where there will be a
series of switchbacks for approximately 20 km. Turn left toward Sun
Peaks Rd. after 4.6 km and then continue straight onto Sun Peaks Rd.
for 2.7 km (The road is closed seasonally). Turn onto Village Way for
240 m and take a left onto Creekside Way.
HIGHLIGHTS: McGillivray Lake, Sun Peaks Resort
5. SUN PEAKS > KAMLOOPS
DISTANCE: 58 kms / 36 miles
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour
ROUTE: Creekside Way > Heffley Louis Creek Rd. > Highway 5 S
HIGHLIGHTS: Heffley Lake, Rayleigh Slo-Pitch City, Secwepemc Museum
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head north on BC-97N for 22 km. Turn right
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head east on Creekside Way. Continue onto
Sun Peaks Rd. Continue onto Heffley Louis Creek Rd. Continue
onto Tod Mountain Rd. Turn right onto Old Hwy. 5. Turn left onto
Southern Yellowhead Hwy. 5 S. Continue straight for 24 km to arrive
back in Kamloops.
ROUTE: Highway 97 - Duck Range Rd.
DISTANCE: 38 kms / 24 miles

(Kamloops – Princeton Highway) for 60 km. Turn Left on Douglas Lake
Rd. Douglas Lake is approximately 23 km on right.
HIGHLIGHTS: Nicole Lake Provincial Park, Douglas Lake Ranch

ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head northeast on Douglas Lake Rd. for 56 km.
Turn right on BC-97S to visit the town of Westwold.
HIGHLIGHTS: Country Christmas Store, Hwy. 97 Diner
3.WESTWOLD > PRITCHARD
HIGHLIGHTS: Rolling forested hills covered in pine and
fir trees and a mix of birch. Stunning views unfold while
descending down to Chase and the community of Chase
is an idyllic setting to stop for a break parkside, lakeside
or at a downtown café.

HIGHLIGHTS: Centre of the Universe
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Take the 3rd right in Falkland
onto Chase Falkland Road. Continue onto Shuswap
Chase Crescent and right onto Trans Canada Highway 1.
Turn left onto Coburn Street.
APPROXIMATE TIME: 2 hours
ROUTE: Deadman Vidette Rd. , Trans Canada Hwy.

HIGHLIGHTS: The trip winds along the Shuswap Road East primarily
along the South Thompson River. Opportunities for viewing many wild
birds including eagles, osprey and hawks are abundant along the trip.
Stop in Chase for a walking break down at the Public Beach and walk
the long pier.
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 39 minutes
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head south on Lac Du Bois Road and continue
on to Batchelor Drive heading to Kamloops. Batchelor Drive turns
slightly left and becomes 8th Street/Westsyde Road heading into
Kamloops’ North Shore.
HIGHLIGHTS: Privato Winery, Westsyde Centennial Park,
North Kamloops.

ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head northwest on Coburn Street toward
Okanagan Ave. Turn left onto Shuswap Ave, right onto Pine Street
and continue onto Kamloops-Shuswap Road. Take two slight lefts on
Nelson

Road and continue onto Shuswap Road East. Pass
Sun Rivers Golf community and turn left onto Highway 5 (Yellowhead)
and take the second exit on the right to Kamloops City Centre.
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Follow the Trans Canada Highway 1 and take
Highway 97 ramp to Vernon continuing on to Highway 97 to Falkland.
DISTANCE: 73 kms / 45 miles

HIGHLIGHTS: Twists and turns along lakes and marshes full of water
fowl. Falkland is home to one of Canada’s largest Canada flags and is

ROUTE: Tranquille Rd. > Red Lake Rd.
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head west on Tranquille Rd. for 6 km. Take a
slight right onto Red Lake Rd./ Tranquille-Criss Creek Rd. Turn right to
stay on Red Lake Rd. Turn right onto Tranquille-Criss Creek Rd. for 30
km. Destination on left.
HIGHLIGHTS: Tranquille Farm Fresh, Red Lake Road Viewpoint
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head southeast on Deadman Vidette Rd.
for 52 kms. Turn left onto Trans-Canada Hwy. and continue for
41 km until you enter Kamloops.

spectacular landscape.The tours we’ve listed here in our Motorcycle Circle Tours
brochure have been routes recommended to us by local riders and our friends
at EagleRider Rentals. Routes vary from shorter rides to longer journeys with
suggested highlights and places to stop along the way. New again in this edition
are some added routes for those who like to cruise highways and those who like
to go on the back roads.

ROUTE: Highway 97 South
TOTAL DISTANCE: 515 kms / 320 miles

TOTAL TIME: 5 hours 10 minutes
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head south on Highway 97 to Cache Creek.
This trip will start out taking riders north towards Barrière, the
site of a fire that threatened the entire town in 2003. There are
still remnants of burnt trees but the landscape in the spring and
early summer is green and vibrant with thriving foliage. Continue
following the river towards Little Fort. Riders will now head off
the path of the river and up into the twisty mountain roads. Enjoy
the many pristine lakes along this tour.
HIGHLIGHTS: The Chasm–10 kms from 70 Mile House. Turn left
onto Chasm Road. About 3 kms down this road, riders will see a
lookout to the Chasm. Continue along this road southwest and it
will meet up with Highway 97 South. There are painted hills about
15 kms before Cache Creek. While in Cache Creek, check out
Horstings Farm, Bonaparte Bend Winery or the Cariboo Jade Shop.
MOTORCYCLE CIRCLE TOURS
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head south on Highway 1
to Spences Bridge. Please note that there are limited
gas stations from Cache Creek until Merritt. Ensure
riders have sufficient fuel to travel 120 kms (75 miles).
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour
ROUTE: Highway 24
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head north towards Little Fort along
Highway 5.

ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head west towards 100 Mile House on
Highway 24. Once getting to Highway 97, riders are at Mile 97.
100 Mile House is 3 miles to the right and those wanting to
continue towards 70 Mile House will turn left onto Highway 97.
Need fuel for the bikes and a bite to eat? 100 Mile House is a
suggested spot.
ROUTE: Highway 97C
HIGHLIGHTS: Lac Le Jeune – take a seat at a picnic table and
enjoy the beautiful day.

HIGHLIGHTS: Check out the Princeton Museum or the old Kettle
Valley Railway Tunnels in Princeton.
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 30 minutes
DISTANCE: 89 kms / 55 miles
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head east from Kamloops on Highway1for
approximately 25 kms. Keep in the right lane and take the exit 399
for Highway 97 towards Kelowna.
ROUTE: Highway 5A (Princeton – Kamloops Highway)
HIGHLIGHTS: BC Wildlife Park, Westwold old church, Falkland’s
Largest Canada Flag, Falkland Stampede (May), O’Keefe Historic
Ranch.
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Upon arrival in Princeton, turn right
Pemberton
on Bridge Street, and make another right onto the PrincetonKamloops Hwy. (5A). Follow Highway 5A until you reach Merritt.
2. VERNON > KELOWNA
HIGHLIGHTS: Walk of Stars murals in Merritt
DISTANCE: 53 kms / 33 miles
6. MERRITT > KAMLOOPS
APPROXIMATE TIME: 40 minutes ROUTE: Highway 97
DISTANCE: 90 kms / 56 miles
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head south towards Kelowna on Hwy 97.
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 15 minutes
HIGHLIGHTS: Kalamalka Lake.
ROUTE: Highway 5A
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 15 minutes

DISTANCE: 175 kms / 108 miles
APPROXIMATE TIME: 2 hours
ROUTE: Highway 33 – Highway 3
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Upon arrival into Kelowna, continue
following Highway 97 (Okanagan Hwy.) or Harvey Ave. Follow
this until Highway 33 and turn left (just before Costco). This
road will go through Rutland and towards Big White Ski Resort
area. Pass the turn off to Big White and continue on Highway 33
towards Rock Creek / Osoyoos. Continue to follow the signs for
Osoyoos, and in Rock Creek turn right onto Highway 3.
HIGHLIGHTS: See many
lakes and farm lands with
likely sightings of eagles
fishing, and check out the
Historic Quilchena Hotel
and Working Ranch.
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 40 minutes
ROUTE: Highway 23
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head north out of Nakusp onto Highway
23. Arrive at the Galena Bay Ferry about 48 kms (30 miles) from
Nakusp. The ferry will unload at Shelter Bay. Follow Highway 23
until you reach Revelstoke.
GALENA BAY – SHELTER BAY FERRY INFORMATION:
Daily sailing times from Shelter Bay to Galena Bay are between
5:00am – 12:00am, and from Galena Bay to Shelter Bay from
5:30am – 12:30am. During the summer months there is another
M.V. vessel added that provides daily extra service between
9:00am and 7:00pm.
CROSSING TIME: 20 Minutes.
CAPACITY: 50 vehicles – 150 passengers.

HIGHLIGHTS: Galena Bay – Shelter Bay Cable Ferry,
Halcyon Hot Springs.
SIDE TRIP:
Loop from Galena Bay to Kaslo by taking Highway 31. From
Kaslo, take Highway 31A to New Denver, highway 6 to Nakusp,
and Highway 23 back to Galena Bay. This circle tour trip is
approximately 340 kms/ 211 miles and will take almost 6 hours,
but it’s an incredible area to tour.
4. REVELSTOKE > SALMON ARM
DISTANCE: 105 kms / 65 miles
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 hour 10 minutes
ROUTE: Highway 1
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head west out of Revelstoke
on Highway 1 towards Salmon Arm.
HIGHLIGHTS: Revelstoke Train Museum, Enchanted
Forest, Crazy Creek Suspension Bridge, The Last
Spike Museum, Three Valley Gap Ghost Town and
Resort, Dutchman Dairy Farm.

1. KAMLOOPS > VERNON

Follow Highway 97, keep in the left lane in order to get onto
32nd Street. Follow 32nd Street until it meets with 25th Ave. Turn
left onto 25th Ave. Drive one block and take the next right onto
Highway 6 and follow this highway heading east towards Lumby.
On the way from Vernon to Nakusp you will pass through Lumby
(26 kms from Vernon), Cherryville. Needles, and cross over on
the ferry to reach Fauquier. After Fauquier, you will pass through
Burton before arriving at Nakusp.

Meadow Creek Road. Follow this road over the highway and
towards Lac Le Jeune (continuing on Meadow Creek Rd.) This
will eventually turn into Lac Le Jeune Rd. Follow this road all the

it meets up with the Yellowhead Highway or turn left onto Voght

on Clearwater Valley Road. Continue onto Clearwater Valley
Road and continue onto Park Drive. Turn right on Clearwater
Village Road and take a slight left onto Swanson Road.

ROUTE: Highway 1 exits onto Highway 97 – Highway 97A
ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Head east from Kamloops on Highway 1
for approximately 25 kms. Keep in the right lane and take exit
399 to Highway 97 towards Kelowna. Follow Highway 97 until
it splits and choose to travel towards Salmon Arm. Turn left and
head north onto Highway 97A. Spallumcheen is approximately
8 kms after the turn off. (Riders may not know they are passing
through Spallumcheen because it is mostly farmland acreage and
has no downtown core).
HIGHLIGHTS: Twists and turns along lakes and marshes full of
water fowl. Falkland is home to one of Canada’s largest Canada
flags and is the home of the Falkland Stampede & Rodeo (May).

up with Highway 1. Follow the signs for Kamloops and turn left
onto Highway 1.

ORIGIN/DESTINATION: From Highway 1, turn right onto Route 12,
then turn left on 6th Street, and right again onto Route 12. If you
want to go into Lillooet, turn left onto Route 99, and after the
bridge turn right on Route 40. NOTE: there is a short section of
road that narrows down to single lane and is dirt – use caution.

HIGHLIGHTS: Wells Gray Provincial Park offers a variety of
topographical features. Extinct volcanoes, lava beds, mineral
springs and glaciers are just a few of the wondrous natural
attractions at the park. A number of spectacular waterfalls also
exist, including the famous Spahats, Dawson and Helmcken Falls.

HIGHLIGHTS: Hope Chainsaw Carvings, Hope Slide, Manning Park.
Detour onto Hwy 5 East of Hope (approx. 10 mins) and visit the
Othello Tunnels at Coquihalla Provincial Park. A series of old train
tunnels and bridges cut through the solid granite walls and give
stunning views over the wild Coquihalla River.

ORIGIN/DESTINATION: Upon arrival in Princeton, turn right
on Bridge Street, and make another right onto the PrincetonKamloops Highway (5A) and follow signs to Merritt.
5. BARRIERE > KAMLOOPS
SIDE TRIP:
Take a short detour through Ashcroft,10 minutes South of
Cache Creek. See many historic buildings downtown and return
back to Highway 1 via Cornwall Road and the Ashcroft Reserve.
HIGHLIGHTS: Take it slow and enjoy the scenery
while passing by many small lakes and grasslands.
