I would encourage you to review the EIAA FB page if you have not already done so. More recently, I have been personally involved in the IAH and Great Plains Aquatic Association FB pages. There are some seriously talented people out there and B.A.P. some in our own back yard. I would like to encourage you all to reach out to those peoLee Van Hyfte ple and hopefully pull them into our circle. Skills are learned and enhanced by educating BOWL SHOW each other. Beth LaFrentz Another great addition to the family is the birth of a few new stores to the area. Such as J&M Aquatics in Grundy Center and Bronson's Fish, Coral, and Supply in Iowa EDITOR City. Please support them by visiting the stores. The more the merrier I say. Our Local Carol Sindelar fish stores are on the front line keeping our hobby strong and growing. Thanks to those EXCHANGES already there as well; Bill at the Fish Shack in Manchester, Shari and Mike at Pets PlayMarti Van Allen house, Ed at Coralville Bay, and Steve and Paula at Lost and Finned. Membership Attendance Drawing: Name pulled out of the bag was Alex Sturtz. He was not in attendance. So the pot increases next month. Meeting adjourned at 9:27 p.m. Minutes EIAA Board Meeting February 10, 2015 Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Lee Van Hyfte. Present: Lee Van Hyfte, Michael Sindelar, Dick Van Hyfte, Marti VanAllen, Dennis Sindelar as proxy for Carol Sindelar, Beth LaFrentz. 1. Growing Contest: we will be ordering approx. 120 Bleeding Heart Tetras, Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma. through Matt Mitchell of J & M Tropicals who will purchase them from the Wet Spot in Washington state. Moved, seconded, all voted in favor. 2. HAP: Horticultural Award Program. Nominated Dick Van Hyfte to be Chairman and Dennis Sindelar to be second committee person, with Lee Van Hyfte as the third member of the HAP review Board. Moved, seconded, all were in favor. Dick will be rewriting the HAP rules to make them more user friendly, and will re-design the HAP submission form to include specific propagation condition lines on the form. We will allow persons joining the EIAA to bring in points from another society as long as certain requirements are fulfilled. We would require a copy of the rules and a transcript of the species submitted. The transcript would need to be signed and dated by the former society HAP Chair. Downclassing for lack of a written report was discussed. Other changes were discussed. Moved, seconded, all were in favor of Dick Van Hyfte and Lee Van Hyfte’s changes to the HAP rules and form. 3. BAP: Breeders Award Program. Options for filing a written BAP report include having the entrant create a short discussion of the production process at the general meeting or by supplying the program for the month regarding that species. (So long as a discussion outline was also furnished to BAP chair and Carol for print options.) 4. Speaker List through November 2015: Approved. 5. Summer Seminar: Will be on Saturday, July 25, 2015 10 a.m. until? Discussion included who to contact as speakers; how many speakers to have; possibility of having a demonstration on how to set up an aquarium; possibility of members only bringing fish to sell (mini swap) at the back of the room, with one or two people watching the table at all times (limit of 5 bags per member); advertising; and lunch delivered by Milios Sandwiches. 6. Linn County Photography Club: LCPC wants to photograph the show on Easter weekend. Arrangements left to Carol Sindelar, show chairperson as to best time. 7. FAAS: Article distributed to Board members regarding FAAS advice on increasing the club’s website presence on the internet. We will try to have a hyperlink from the website to our Facebook page. Rules: * One free fish to each individual membership * Two free fish to each family membership * Must be present at the March 10th meeting to pick up your fish. * Extra fish may be purchased at approx. $2.25 each. (will have exact price on March 10th at the meeting.) * * Reminder: The EIAA Spring Show is an aquascaped show, not a bare tank show. Over $800 in cash will be awarded to the winners. Best of Show wins $100, Best Aquascape wins $100, Best of Class wins $10, as well as sizable prizes for Junior Best of Show, Novice, and Breeder. Check out the rules for details.
