There is still plenty of time to be a part of
the bazaar. This year is sure to be
spectacular! We will have fresh greenery,
jewelry, antiques, artwork (watercolor,
acrylic, and oil), clocks, handmade soap,
handmade cards, pottery, wood carvings,
baked goods, canned goods, and more! The
youth will also be selling sandwiches and
soup as a fundraiser. They are asking for
crock pots of soup to be donated for the
fundraiser. Contact Tracey Talbert (423878-0110) or Stephanie Elliott (423-6467280) if you can help. Monetary donations
are also appreciated.
Don’t miss this time to share your talents
and visit the bazaar! This is a great time to
Christmas shop! If you are interested in
helping out, please contact the church office
or Linda Pruner.

contribution that the Food Pantry gets throughout the
year. They are in need of canned food items, canned
milk, boxed macaroni and cheese, etc. Anyone who did
not receive a bag can donate at local Food City Stores.

A DOWN HOME
CHRISTMAS
Join Symphony of the Mountains,
Voices of the Mountains,
Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy,
Mountain Mission School Choir, and the
First Presbyterian Church of Bristol’s Handbell Choir
as we ring in the holiday season with the joyous sounds
of new and old Yuletide favorites, on Saturday,
December 6. The bus leaves at 1:45 p.m.
We will stop for dinner after the show.
Cost: $15 each. Call the church to make reservations.
We are still in need of volunteers to help deliver
food for Meals on Wheels this Thanksgiving and
Christmas Day. The church will provide the
covered containers for the meals. Deliveries are
made between 10 a.m. and noon. Help make
someone’s holidays brighter!
To help out, please contact Joyce Crockett
by phone at 276-669-4634
or email details@bvu.net.
The Sanctuary Choir would like to
thank all of you who stayed for our
luncheon Sunday and contributed
to help with the cost of our
upcoming Christmas cantata. We
are still far from our goal at this
time. If you were unable to attend
and feel led to help support our
endeavor by making a donation, please do so by
contacting our office staff. It not only takes the
dedication of our choir members and the
orchestra to put on this ministry, it takes the total
support of the church as we attempt to reach
those who might be searching for that peace that
passes all understanding in knowing Christ
through song. We hope you and your family have
circled the dates of December 20 and 21 -- and -to attend what we hope is a celebration you look
forward to as much as we do.

Moments That Took My Breath Away by
Phillip J. Timp was donated to our library
by Joyce Crockett. Bestselling author,
Adriana Trigiani, writes that this book is
one of the most powerful autobiographies
she has ever read. A quote from the book
cover goes like this: “It’s all here: love,
faith, family, and the abiding power of hope in the face of
disappointment and loss.” The story begins in the ‘50s in
Wisconsin, Timp’s place of birth, and continues into southwest
Virginia where his family became part of the Appalachian
family. It continues into Phil’s career, his marriage and family
life a major part of which is courageously learning to help their
firstborn, born with a puzzling disabling condition, live life to the
highest of her potential. The blow that eventually takes Phil’s
life is ALS, an incurable disease that slowly but inexorably robs
an individual of all muscle strength. He, despite a concoction of
fear, devastation, and grief, faced each day he lived celebrating
life and its gifts. He, therefore, became an inspiration to all who
knew him.
Don’t forget to fill a shoebox
for Samaritan’s Purse
Operation Christmas Child!
Shoeboxes with instructions
may be found in Rosser Hall,
front foyer, and exit doors.
Filled boxes need to be
returned by November 19.
Be our guest . . . .
All young adults (college, career, young married folks)
are invited to be our guests as we go out to lunch together
following worship service on November 23. We’ll meet in
the hallway near Ben Ondrak’s office. Fellowship, fun,
food! Pass the word - bring a friend!
Cantata Kids
Children (third thru sixth grades) are invited to
participate in this year’s Cantata. They will need to
commit to all Wednesday night rehearsals, and the
Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals the week of the
performances. CDs are available for the kids to
practice at home. If interested, contact Ben.
Children’s Christmas Party
This year’s Christmas party is scheduled for
December 13 at 11:30 a.m. We will be going to the
Bass Pro Shop Fish Bowl for bowling, pizza, and
visiting Santa Town. Children should meet at the
church at 11 a.m.
Youth Campfire
The Whites are hosting a youth campfire on
Sunday, November 16. The gathering starts at
3 p.m. There will be games, dinner, and fellowship.
We will meet at the Whites’ home at 21340
Terrace Dr, Bristol, VA 24201. Hope to see you
there!
