About the charity...
The Growers United FC (or For Charity) is a new initiative bringing together local businesses and
communities around sport and other fun family activities.
Growers United provides an excellent opportunity for horticultural businesses in the Vale of
Evesham to establish additional links with local communities while supporting charitable
causes. We are keen to promote horticulture as a key sector of local economy. Contributing to
greater community cohesion, encouraging healthy life-styles and greater participation in sports
among local residents are also among our goals.
The idea of Growers United originated in Autumn 2012 when Evesham United FC was first
approached by Vicarage Nurseries, a local horticultural business, in order to organise a charity
football match between local growers and the Club. Thus Growers United was born! Despite
challenging weather and very little time to prepare, the original match between Growers United
and Evesham United drew a sizeable crowd. Most importantly, we managed to raise more than
£2000 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital on that memorable windy and cold October day.
This year Growers United is back with more football and more attractions for all communities.
We are raising money again for two charitable causes: Birmingham Children’s Hospital and an
additional defibrillator to be based at the Evesham United Stadium.
To continue donating after the event please go to: http://www.justgiving.com/growersunitedfc
Growers United 2013 includes:
• 7-a-side international football tournament featuring 24 teams competing for the Concordia
and Fusion Personnel Cup
• The charity football match between Growers United v West Bromwich Albion All Stars.
• Fun activities for all ages
• A chance to win unique collectable sport items signed by your heroes
• Finally, a great opportunity to taste various ethnic foods and some fantastic local produce
Huge thanks to all Partners and Sponsors for making the Growers United 2013 possible!
