The year is 1525. Young King Henry VIII, with the help of his most trusted advisor, Cardinal Wolsey, has just signed the Treaty of More with the French Ambassador. In this treaty, Henry VIII agrees to secure the release of King Francis I, the rightful King of France, who is currently being held prisoner by Charles V, the Holy Roman Emporer and King of Spain. In exchange for their King's release and restoring French lands currently under English rule, France agrees to pay Henry an incredibly large sum of money to help restore England's somewhat depleted coffers. Now our beloved King and Queen Catherine of Aragon, weary from all of these negotiations, have come to the Shire of Mount Hope to relax and enjoy the famous hospitality of Mount Hope's Villagers. Then alas, the French Ambassador, hearing Henry boast of the festivities in store for him at Mount Hope, decides he too could use a vacation and unexpectedly appears at the Shire's gates! So much for a relaxing holiday without dignitaries… But not to worry! All Shall be well! As long as the Spanish don't show up… Henry VIII Magical Merriment Parade – Join villagers, merchants and nobles as we gather to escort Her Majesty in grand procession to the Human Chess Match. Nippers are encouraged to come and lead the Queen in this parade guaranteed to stop everyone in their tracks to watch as the music makers, flags, floats and giant puppets pass by. Come one, come all and experience the fun of a Royal Parade! Parade will form at 3:40PM below Sir Jacob’s Garden. Storyline Shows King's Court – For years our charming Lady Mayor has been writing letters to King Henry VIII himself, hoping to convince His Majesty to visit our Shire for a relaxing holiday. This year he has finally answered! So join us at the Endgame Stage as the Shire welcomes King Henry VIII and Queen Catherine of Aragon and prepare them for a day of great festivities. But wait! …Did the Lady Mayor also invite the Ambassadors of France and Spain? Let us hope everyone behaves! Human Chess – There's nothing like a rousing game of Human Chess to get your blood flowing on a beautiful day. Some of England's finest will face off at this grand event. Who knows, we might even see the King himself take up arms. Tournament Joust – The Knights of the Realm meet on the Joust List to determine who amongst them is the best. Witness their skills being put to the test as they try to outdo each other and lay claim to the title of Best Knight in the Realm. Ultimate Joust – There's nothing King Henry VIII loves more than a good Joust! What begins as a noble joust of sport quickly becomes a bloody joust to the death when a Knight's honor is challenged. Watch Sir William demonstrate for us the true nature of nobility. Finale In Song – It just wouldn't be a festive day without music and merriment. Join us at the Globe Stage where King, Queen, Court and peasants alike will send you off with good cheer. Stage Shows Boarshead Brawl – Join Madame Maud and her sidekick Magdelena as they take on two Dukes, two Knights an ambassador and a sellsword in this hilarious, farcical, slapstick comedy stunt show. Joyful Noyse – Mount Hope's shire printer, Majorie Goodlefe, has convinced some of the nobles of the Court to help her compile a book of madrigals. There's only one problem… England's most promising composer, Thomas Tallis, had the same idea! Let your ears be dazzled as they take you on a musical tour of Renaissance Europe. The Frogs: Dionysus in Hell By Aristophanes – In this outrageous comedy, we meet the Greek God Dionysus who travels to Hades (the underworld) to bring the playwright Euripides back from the dead, because living playwrights aren't good enough. Whose Jest is it Anyway? – A comedy show of epic proportions! This improvisation extravaganza completely made up with suggestions from the audience will make you laugh, smile, giggle and guffaw! * Rakish Rogues – These five pubdwelling hooligans will delight you with song and bawdy merriment. If you've ever been bored at a pub, it's because the Rakish Rogues weren't there. * Sultry Sirens of Sin – Mysterious, mystical, tantalizing and possibly… dangerous? These four beauteous wenches who sing like angels may claim to be ordinary girls, but are they really the Sirens we've heard of in ancient legends who devour the souls of men?! You decide. * Trial & Drench – Revenge of the Privy Wench: This year the judicial system has taken a nasty turn. The privy wench, tired 4 of having it dumped on her, has somehow talked to the powers that be into allowing her to bring charges against some of the worst offenders in a Court appointed by her. Come to the Ball & Chain Stage to see her and others mete out the guilty… accused. Bring your sense of humor and maybe a poncho. Bloody Best – Greek Gods Gone Wild – If you know your Greek Mythology, then you might remember how those crazy Gods were always siring children by human women. How distressing this must have been for those half-God, half-human children! Join the Pennybrygg Players as they present this hilarious and gory comedy where we will finally find out… WHO IS THE FATHER?! Children's Shows Children vs. Peasants – The Lady Mayor needs your children! Her husband has made the laughable claim that he can train the peasants to be warriors for the game of Human Chess. Not to be outdone, the Lady Mayor has claimed that she could train children better than he could train adults. Bring your children over to the Chess Arena to help prove her right and have some fun for the kids in the process. The King's Royal Performers Archery through the Ages - Bringing the history of archery and its world-wide appplication to life. Come watch and learn from these two Scottish brothers as they continue the MacManly family tradition of wooing the ladies and teaching the men how to master their swords… and their swords! Fool Hearty - Family-oriented but funny for people of all ages. Beautifully costumed with well developed characters, they are both a great photo opportunity and a memorable experience for everyone! When they realized how expensive that would be, they decided to start a band so Rukus - This band is full of energy and will knock your socks off with hilarious banter, amazing music, endless talent and high spirits. Shelli Buttons - Shelli is an aerial rockstar who has been performing professionally for the past eight years all over the US and Canada. She's worked with Aerial Angels, Barely Balanced, Tribal Circus, The Jayna Lee Show, Paolo Garbanzo and Jamison the Juggler; and most recently the Accidental Circus. Sir Isaac Fawlkes - Not your usual idea of a magician. He combines outrageous comedy and unusual magic to create a hysterical show that leaves audiences in tears of laughter. Tartanic - Imagine one dancer, six drums, six drones, 18 notes, fast fingers, high comedy, flying bagpipes, death-defying stunts and scorching hot music played at over 120 beats per minute with driving speed and high-volume—all brought to you by five men without pants. Gagliardi King Henry VIII – His Majesty, By the Grace of God, King of England and France, Defender of the Faith and Lord of Ireland. Boisterous and energetic; lover of sport, mirth and merriment; our young King is an athlete, a warrior, a musician and poet. Henry is the most charasmatic man to ever take the throne, but don't let His love of festivities deceive you. Our King is a military lionheart with a surprisingly keen political mind. If the lion knew His own strength, hard were it for any man to rule him. Sir Reginald Smythe Penburthy IX – Retired and addled Knight, married to the Lady Mayor. Assists his wife—not always well—in her mayoral duties and serves as the town Herald upon necessity. Sir Humphrey Forester – A warrior who earned his knighthood by demonstrating uncommon bravery at the Battle of Flodden Field. Kristen Spangenberg Jules Schrader Catherine of Aragon – Known for Her graciousness, Her compassion and Her charm, Catherine is the epitome of nobility. Her courage and piousness earned for Her the love and devotion of the English people. This daughter of Spain and paragon of virtue is our Queen. Diane de Poitiers – The beautiful and elegant Diane de Poitiers is a French noblewoman and prominent courtier in the court of King Frances I. Politically astute and intellectually sharp, she is often entrusted by her King with delicate matters. Taylor Sorrel Spanish Embassador, Don Inigo Lopez de Mendoza y Zuniga – This flamboyant Castilian feels entitled to his good relationship with England. After all, Queen Catherine of Aragon is Spanish herself, isn't she? We'll see how long he can keep from getting on King Henry VIII's nerves. Cardinal Thomas Wolsey – Next to the King, Thomas Wolsey is the most powerful man in all of England. Not only is he extremely powerful within the church, but he is also the Lord Chancellor—the King's chief advisor. Ryan Hays Sir William Fairfax – A warrior who earned his knighthood by displaying exceptional valor at the Battle of the Spurs. Sheila Barton Lady Dolores Penburthy – Lady Mayor of Mount Hope Shire. Perennially cheerful and socialite supreme. Essentially runs the town. 14 Nathaniel Barber French Ambassador, Jean de Dinteville – A man of reason, science and chivalry. Truly the perfect diplomat, unless of course the Spanish are involved! His motto is "Memento Mori", meaning "Remember Thou Shalt Die". Patrick Croce Ian Boston McCafferty Sir Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk – Best friend to King Henry VIII. This confident and dashing Duke is the ultimate ladies' man. Keep an eye on your sister around this one… even if you're the King. Caitlin Graci Tran Maria de Salinas, Baroness Willoughby de Eresby – Maid of Honor and devoted friend to Queen Catherine of Aragon, this charming Castilian is as comfortable in England as she is in Spain—and she just loves letting the French know that. Todd Smith Sir Nicholas Carew, Master of Horse – Renowned for his fearlessness, Nicholas's jousting skills are well known throughout the land. His influence at Court is second only to Cardinal Wolsey. Doug Wallace Rafe de Bricassart – Astrologer to the King. Believes that the study of celestial events can help unravel the secrets of the universe. Joseph Penn Rosser Lamason Will Sommers, the King's Jester – Let's face it, being the King is not easy. In fact, sometimes it's downright stressful! The cure: Will Sommers! He's quick with a joke, great with children and when things are at their worst, it's Will who can put a smile on the King's face. Samuel Buslingthorpe, Town Crier – Ever eager to perform his duties to the best of his abilities, Samuel has trouble saying anything quietly. When he has nothing official to announce, he simply shouts out his thoughts and feelings. Joshua Daniels Nathan Miller Brandon Dennison Bartholomew Pennybrygg, Actor – Patriarch and company leader of the Pennybrygg Players. This self-proclaimed "greatest actor in the world" is world famous in every village he has performed in. Thomas Tallis – A newly appointed composer for King Henry VIII's Court and singer in Cardinal Wolsey's Chapel Royal Choir. Tobias Bloodwell, Barber/ Dentist/Surgeon – Don't let his lack of credentials alarm you. Tobias is a professional. Kristina Coia Pete Hedberg Marjorie Goodlefe – An only child, Marjorie's father was the first printer in the Shire of Mount Hope and when he died, she took over the family business. She would like to someday expand her operations outside the boundaries of Mount Hope, but her biggest hurdle is that many residents of the Shire don't know how to read. Angus MacRydbeard – A jack of all trades, expert in nothing. There isn't a job that Old Angus hasn't been fired from. Valerie Chamness Constance Pennybrygg, Actress – Wife and muse to Bartholomew and matriarch of the Pennybrygg Players. She's played Media, just ask her about it. Gregory Stoughton Evin Hoffman Montgomery 'Monte' Frost, Con Artist – His velvety voice and piercing blue eyes can charm the coinage right out of a wench's purse. Michael Petyak Seamus O'Toole – Seamus is an Irish poet. His poems range from bad to truly awful. He'll write them for anyone about anything. The question is, do people pay him for his poems, or to go away? Benedict Worthy, Actor – Firmly believes that business would be more prosperous if only he were in charge of the Pennybrygg Players. Emily Lynn Allyson Frick Andy Dennison Cecily Rose Heywood Sinclair, Actress – She was told she would get her own dressing room… she's still waiting. Rook – Beware! Thinks that go "bump" in the night are sometimes named Rook. Daniel Ott Diggory Stone, Stone Mason – If he's not a pillar of the community, he did at least build those pillars! Nerissa Rivers (Siren) – A seductive beauty who enjoys being a seductress greatly. Hiding her nature by pretending to be a blacksmith. Zachary Street Minder Victoria Davis Rambling Tom Felis, Traveling Troubadour – Most minstrels travel from town to town to seek new performance opportunities and audiences; Tom travels to avoid angry husbands. Nixie Pond (Siren) – A pixielike spirit with a coy beauty who hides her Siren nature by being a baker. Shiny things can sometimes be a distraction for her. Tyler Forsythe, Actor – You have no idea what he had to give up to be a member of the Pennybrygg Players. Charlotte Grady Nancy Weaver – This charming wench sells the finest silks. In fact, she loves them so much, she wears almost all of them at the same time. Liz Kinder Madame Maude – Owner of the Boar's Head Inn. Legend has it that Madame Maude was once a pirate who hit the mother-load off the coast of Spain. Magdelena – Mercenary and sellsword under the employ of Madame Maude. Jeff Wolfthal Hanna Storch Nellie Potts, Privy Wench – 'Tis a dirty job, but someone has got to do it. If cleanliness is indeed Godliness, then Nellie should be a Saint. This wench has seen it all. Rachel Gitel Maris Oceana (Siren) – Leader of the Sirens; motherly and in control, yet a hell cat does live in her. Working as a seamstress to hide her Siren nature. Allison Petrillo Meghan Browning Marina Lake (Siren) – The most openly wild Siren of the four. She tries to hide her Siren nature as many things, none of which she is very good at. 15 Blackfryars Erin Anderson, Cherese Dearling Maria Angelo, Belladona Sage Abigail Armstrong, Butnie Collier Lauralette Bernard, Mistress Raven Madpie Richardd Blosser, Master William Weston Tabitha Borges, Mistress Harriet Haddock Eileen Cushey, Felicia Flagstone Eoin Cushey, Henry Courtennay, Earl of Devonshire Ashley Devoe, Henrietta Fowler William Frank, Vladimir Cosmin Grigorovich Katie Gallagher Worster, Elizabeth Browne Somerset, Countess of Worcester Bryan Gentzle, Gabriel Blake Edwards, Marshall Holly Gingrich, Bonnie "Baby Face" Parker Victoria Gold, Morticia Luciana Ionesco Samantha Grove, Colleen Collier Steve Hager, Rip Skelton Jilly Harris, Tatiana Ramona Grigorovich Lisa Harris, Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury Laura Hippensteel, Elizabeth Stafford Howard, Countess of Norfolk Jim Jensen, Chester Drawers John Jensen, Frederick Flagstone PRODUCTION Ian Smith, Technical Director Cynthia Carney, Production Stage Manager Matthew Giguere, Master Carpenter Chase Molden, Prop Master Kate Jerzak, Vanessa Featherstone Veronica Johnston, Violette Chaunteur Vincent Kinser, Timothy Baxter Brittany Mancha, Penelope Penburthy Kaitlyn McVeigh, April Showers Dana Micciche, Diana Arrowsmith Taylor Montefour, Sorina Felicia Ionesco Sam Parry, Robin Akers Samantha Phillips-Varneke, Mary Waggletongue Emily Pritt, Carly Flower Alyssa Rader, Autumn May Freeze James Reilly, Sir Adam Cringer Caitlyn Remmey, Sally Ann Clark Keith Shephard, Master Rupert Nathaniel Browne Adam Shepley, Weyland Smith Matthew Smith, Renee d'Balourd Tegan Smith, Madame Marguerite Dumont Dave Sobkowiak, Lanky Hemptwister Jamie Stahl, Constance Cleaver Rebecca Stimmler, Lady Anne Crew Sandi Trait, Helen Joy Culpepper Karen Vasey, Maud Green, Lady Parr Lizzy Wahba, Faith Flagstone Elija Weinstock, Master Andrew A.
