Natalie & I are still trying to fix up our home to put it on the market in between

This Month: We have several shows on the
books, but as of now nothing is open to the public.
• Entertainment news
We will be performing our Magic Restaurant Lecture on April 28th at 7:00 pm. If you are a magician interested in attending this lecture feel free to
give us a call and we can get you info on the event.

Quote of the month: Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is

Who is this guy?
Paul Gertner
Paul Gertner is one of America's Premier Corporate Magicians.
Paul Gertner has performed for more than 500 corporations in more
than 20 different countries. A frequent guest on the Tonight Show,
Paul has also appeared on NBC's World's Greatest Magic, HBO,

Who is this guy? (Cont)
I first met Paul at his magic lecture in Richmond in the fall of 2010. I was so excited to see him perform his classic steel cups and balls routine. Paul has been
doing his steel cups and balls for over 30 years and even performed it on Mr.
Rogers Neighborhood & for Johnny Carson.
Paul Gertner has won a number of awards in magic over the years, he is the only
three time winner of the world champion of close-up magic but is also a winner
of three magician of the year awards from the
magic castle in Hollywood.
Here I am with Paul at his magic
Although Paul is not a household name, (he is
lecture in 2010
known mostly in the corporate world and tradeshow market) he is well respected in the magic
community.

Magic News / Lance Burton’s newest project
Lance Burton’s final show at the
Monte Carlo was held on Sept 4th
2009 after 5,000 shows there and
13 years. Lance worked on the Vegas strip for over 28 straight
years. He has just recently poked
his head out and according to
sources he is really enjoying the
normal life. Waking up in the
morning and going to bed before
2:00 am. Lance has said he was
excited to be able watch football
and hang out with the guys. His
newest project since football season is directing and producing a
new movie called “Billy Topit,
Master Magician”. This is a family
comedy independent film. Lance
said it is a low budget film and
the cast and crew are made up of
his friends.
Good luck Lance!
Wes Iseli’s Video of the Month / Doll House Rehearsal
This month I decided to show you
a video clip from our appearance
on VA Living TV. This clip was
shot from our camera that was
mounted in the back of the room.
This footage was from our rehearsal to show the camera man
what to expect during the shoot.
This is a 3 phase routine in which
I produce a 9 inch doll and turn it
into a 2 1/2 foot tall
doll then into a living
doll.

Rodney Dangerfield has nothing on me...
Rodney Dangerfield's classic joke was
how he never got any respect; well
sometimes in my life I feel the same
way. I have been a full time professional magician for 15 years now, I
have traveled all over the East Coast
and even ventured a time or two to the
Midwest. Natalie & I have performed
for CEO's of corporations, resorts, the
British Embassy, and in auditoriums
and theaters all over. People still ask
me if I am still doing magic as if it is a
hobby and I should have grown up by
now and gotten a real job. Some people
think I only do kids birthday parties
and I get compliments like "my kids
love you". That is great, don't get me
wrong but I am more than that. My ego
doesn't stand a chance to get big with
comments like this always swirling.
A few weeks ago Natalie got a call
from a customer who wanted us to perform a show for their family reunion.
The lady on the phone went on and on
about how excited she was on having
us and that her family was also excited
since they had just recently saw us at a
show. We performed that show this
past Saturday and I felt great on the
way to the show knowing that these
people were so excited to see us. When
we got to the show the parking lot was
packed and there was nowhere for us to
park and unload. So I called and asked
for the contact person. The person who
answered asked "who is calling?" I said
"Wes Iseli Magician" then she said
"Who?" and I said "Wes Iseli Magician" then she said "Um, we don't need
an electrician" and she hung up the
phone. I had to get out of the car and
walk up into the event location and
wander around until I found the contact
and ask where to park to unload.
On the way back to the car I shook my
head thinking "I can't get no respect."
Entertainment News / Houdini’s last living assistant passed
Dorothy Young worked with Houdini in 1925 during his last American
away at 103
tour. She is pictured on the right helping with the radio illusion. Houdini
would open the box to show the internal workings of the radio then close
the doors and turn it on. A voice would announce “Miss Dorothy Young
doing the Charleston” then she would pop out of the top of the box and
Houdini would help her down and she would dance on stage. She not only
helped with the radio illusion, but also worked as a slave girl in one part
of the show and also with the most famous illusion of Houdini’s, his water
torture cell. According to her obituary she led an amazing life; not only
did she work with Houdini but also Fred Astaire. She even wrote a book
about her life which was turned into a movie in 1940 called “Dancing on a
Dime”.

The Colonnades Show
The Colonnades is a senior living community in Charlottesville. They recently hired us this month to perform
for the independent living folks who live there. This was our second time performing there and the audience was
great. We spent at least 15 minutes meeting and talking with folks from the audience after the show. We had
over 75 folks show up to our event and after our meet and greet we were given a tour of the main buildings. This
place was very nice; it had a library, arts and crafts room, swimming pool, and much more. The dining rooms
there were nicer than some of the country clubs we have worked in the past. We perform at these types of communities from time to time, but this place was probably the nicest.

Scouting Banquets
Natalie & I performed at a couple of Scouting Banquets this month. These events are a lot of fun and the scouts
always seem to be really excited about magic. Although these were stand up magic shows some scout groups go
all out and add illusions to their show and we even teach magic classes at some as well.
If you know of any scout groups who are in
need of entertainment or are looking for an
easy fundraising project send them our way.
Whether we are performing our stand up show
or our fundraising illusion show we will provide them with a show they will remember for
years to come
Belk’s KidFest
Natalie & I were hired to perform at
Belk in Charlottesville’s Fashion
Square Mall. Natalie did face painting and I performed close up magic
& made a few balloon animals. We
sent them posters to advertise us
coming weeks before and when we
showed up we already had a line
waiting for us. The event went
great! We only performed for 2
hours and they said next time we
would probably be hired 3 or 4
hours. It was great to do a show in
my local mall because I was able to
see lots of friends passing through.
Thanks again Belk, we had a
great time!

Incredible Shrinking Card
Imagine showing two playing cards front and back then
by rubbing them together a smaller card is produced
from in between the two cards. Then take one of the
regular size cards and the small card show them front
and back then produce an even smaller card. Then pick
up the two smaller cards show them front and back
and produce a new even smaller card.
This trick is amazing and super easy to do.

Teach a Trick / Money Making Scam
Effect: Ask someone to lend you $20.00 and place it into a match box then you also
put in $20.00 of your own and offer them to buy the box for $30.00. They are in for
a bargain buying a match box for $30.00 that is worth $40.00.
Secret: In reality they have already put $20.00 in and are in fact losing $10.00. They
have spent $50.00 for a $40.00 matchbox and the Magician gets $30.00 instead of the
$20.00 you started with.
Tip: Emphasize they are in for a bargain buying a
match box for $30.00 that is worth $40.00
This is a scam revealed, don’t try this yourself you could
end up beat up or worse. Consider yourself warned!
