Luxury tycoon Pinault caught
between two most beautiful women
Francois-Henri Pinault who owns
Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and other
luxury brands, is married to Salma
Hayek and he was in a relationship
with supermodel Linda Evangelista.
Both Salma and Linda were
pregnant at the same time in 2006.
Recently Linda appeared in
Manhattan Family Court to thrash
out a custody agreement with Pinault
TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK
ERE’S a baby mama shocker that’ll
make your head spin. Salma Hayek,
arguably one of the most beautiful
women on the planet, is now married
to her very wealthy husband of two
years, François-Henri Pinault. But around the time
they met in 2006, Pinault was in a relationship with
another one of the world’s most beautiful women, Linda
Evangelista.
Nothing out of the ordinary for a man like him to have
some gorgeous arm-candy attached to him. Thing is, he
got both women pregnant that same year, resulting in
the two sex sirens now having 4-year-olds by the French
luxury brand owner—except that Evangelista had kept
her baby daddy’s name secret this whole time.
Until, that is, she was spotted in a New York court
arguing over a child support agreement she made with
Pinault. According to public records at the court, there
are ongoing proceedings between her and Pinault.
So what’s happening now? And did Salma know?
Evangelista played the January Jones game,
keeping her baby daddy’s name mum, then
even lying to protect Pinault when she claimed
in interviews the father was a “New York
architect.”
There had been previous murmurs of
Pinault being the father of her son, Augustin
James Evangelista. Page Six fingered the
businessman in 2007, though Evangelista’s
rep denied it. But the leggy beauty’s longstanding cover was blown recently when she
appeared in Manhattan Family Court to
thrash out a custody agreement with
Pinault.
The 46-year-old supermodel has
been to the court at least three times
now, with no agreement being
reached on their custody plans,
which means a support trial is
likely. Pinault was not present at
the hearing, but the Manhattan
magistrate’s court action confirms
to the New York Post that he is in
fact the father.
According
to
Evangelista
and
Hayek’s pregnancy
timelines,
Evangelista conceived their
baby boy

in early 2006, during the time he was reportedly separated from then-girlfriend Hayek.
Hayek, 44, became pregnant in late 2006,
giving birth to Valentina Paloma Pinault in
September 2007.
Which means both ladies were pregnant at
the same time of the year.
No word on whether Hayek knew that
Pinault, 49, was Evangelista’s baby daddy,
but the actress repeatedly insisted in interviews that her husband has just three children,
their girl and two kids from a previous
marriage that ended in 2004.
Pinault can certainly afford to care
for his offspring—he owns Yves
Saint Laurent, Gucci and other
luxury brands and jets from New
York to Los Angeles to Paris on a
regular basis.
Before he married the Frida
star, the duo had called off
their engagement in July
2008 but reconciled shortly
thereafter. They married
on Valentine’s Day in
2009 in a small town
hall ceremony in Paris.
Months later, the
couple threw a
celeb-filled bash in
Venice to celebrate.
Pinault’s attorney
David
Aronson declined
to discuss his
client’s case with E!,
saying it is a private
matter between private people. Evangelista’s
attorney has not yet responded for comment.

Snoop Dogg’s Britain dreams!
Olsen sisters launch chic T-shirts
RAPPER Snoop Dogg thinks he would enjoy himself
if he relocates to Britain. The 39-year-old rapper
who has three children, 16-year-old Corde, Cordell,
14, and Cori, 10, with wife Shante thinks he would
have a great time if he was forced to relocate from
the US, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “Would I live in
the Britain? I wouldn’t mind living here. I think I
could really enjoy myself,’ he said.
TWIN sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have launched a new
line of T-shirts through their new website StyleMint. They recently joined hands with BeachMint Inc - a company headed by
MySpace founder Josh Berman - for StyleMint.com, which combines shopping and social media and offers users recommendations for purchases, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “There’s nothing
better than a simple, chic and versatile Tee. When it’s done right,
you just know. That’s what we do at StyleMint,” said Ashley.

Two Audi R8 Spyder cars auctioned at the Elton John Aids Foundation
Wheels
guide
AUDI has donated a very special R8 sports car for this year’s star-studded White Tie and Tiara Ball, which has always been held at the home of
Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish. The event took place on June 23, Thursday. A dazzling and one-of-a-kind mirror-like chromed finish
has been applied to the 194mph open-top sports vehicle that has been especially made for the occasion in order to attract the highest potential
bids in the auction that will fund the Elton John Aids Foundation annually. The fundraising ball is a “golden ticket event” that is both glamourous
as well as highly effective in terms of raising funds, Director Jeremy Hicks of Audi UK commented. He further stated that the Audi is proud to
support the event for the ninth year with the donation, which is “arguably” the company’s most “fittingly glamourous model.” The R8 Spyder
boasts of a fully-automatic lightweight fabric hood that brings wind-in-hair intensity to driving experience brought about by the lightweight aluminum quattro-equipped super car. The donated vehicle model can top 194mph. It can also blast to 62mph from rest in just 4.1 seconds. In
addition, the vehicle has exceptional ten-cylinder, 525PS petrol engine with manual transmission. It is normally pegged at £117,710 OTR. “A
striking ‘chrome-finish’ version of the 194mph soft-top sports car was initially donated, and was sold for £250,000, but interest was so strong
that a second example was provided by Audi UK. The total amount raised by the two cars was £620,000.” said the press release.

Rear view of Infiniti M35H.
NYT SYNDICATE
A
FTER 10 minutes behind the
wheel of the 2012 Infiniti
M35h, one thing becomes
crystal clear: Infiniti engineers must despise hybrids.
Rocketing up the twisting, hilly side
streets of West Hollywood, this thing sure
doesn’t feel like the next-door science
teacher’s hybrid. It’s got gobs of rich,
torquey power, and an audible growl
from the twin chrome exhaust tips that sit
out back. It even handles well and drives
almost like a sport sedan.
The M35h is Infiniti’s first foray into
hybrid waters, and it’s obvious the brand
wants to do things differently. Slotting
into Infiniti’s flagship M series lineup
between the entry-level, six-cylinder M37
and the range-topping, V-8-powered
M56, the M hybrid gives buyers more
power than the former and better fuel
economy than either. With a total of 360
net horsepower between gasoline and
electric propulsion systems, the M35h
still achieves a combined fuel economy
rating of 29 mpg (broken down as 27
city/32 highway). Those impressive numbers easily top the rear-drive M37’s
18/26-mpg rating.
Infiniti’s Direct Response Hybrid system is exclusive to the brand, and lies at
the heart of the in-house-developed
M35h. The system boasts a 302-horsepower, 258 pound-foot 3.5-litre
Atkinson-cycle V-6, a 50 kW electric
motor, and two clutches, one dry, one
wet. The dry clutch is positioned between
the gasoline engine and electric motor,
allowing independent operation of each
and increased efficiency, while the wet
clutch sits at the tail end of the M35h’s
seven-speed transmission. The setup
nixes the need for a conventional torque

converter, saving weight and giving
crisper response.
A lithium-ion battery pack behind the
rear seat powers the electric motor,
reducing luggage space from 14.9 to 11.3
cubic feet—still enough room to carry up
to four golf bags or two large suitcases,
Infiniti says. In addition to powering the
drive wheels with or without electrical
assistance, the gasoline engine recharges
the battery pack during deceleration and
braking. The M35h’s steering is
redesigned with a more efficient electrohydraulic system that operates on
demand. Setting off from a stop in the
M35h revealed a faint noise we initially
mistook for electric motor whine. It’s
actually Infiniti’s Approaching
Vehicle Sound for
Pedestrians
(VSP) sys-

tem, designed to alert pedestrians to the
otherwise silent M35h’s presence when
under electric-only power. VSP is active
at speeds up to roughly 20 mph, reactivating when the speedometer needle
drops below 15 mph. While other
automakers have been developing similar
systems, Infiniti says it is the first to bring
the technology to market as standard in a
hybrid vehicle.
Infiniti designed the M35h to be capable of driving on electric power alone for
up to 1.2 miles at a time, and at speeds of
up to 62 mph. The goal is to allow the car
to stay in pure electric mode for longer
distances than many other hybrids. Using
the car’s built-in electric-mode odometer
and a little right-foot
restraint, we were able to stay in electric
mode for an impressive 53 percent of one
26-mile, city-centric journey. Though the
car tends to revert to gasoline mode sooner if the battery reserves are on the lower
end of the scale (the system never allows
the batteries to discharge fully), with a
higher charge level, electric mode is easy,
and even fun, to maintain.
Honestly, the biggest challenge in driving the M35h is refraining from mashing
the throttle away from every stoplight,
embarrassing drivers of slower, nonhybrid vehicles. As associate road test
editor Carlos Lago exclaimed after a 5.1second 0-60-mph run at our test venue,
“Whoa, this thing is quick!” Immediately
after, Lago recorded a 13.6-second quarter-mile run at a trap speed of 104.5 mph.
Quick, indeed.
On the street, the M35h’s handling
and braking are very good, with quick
turn-in and a generally willing nature for
a luxury sedan. At the track, though, the
car’s orientation was clearly toward comfort and safety with considerable body
roll and plenty of understeer, a common
tendency for similar vehicles. Still, the car
feels lively enough with a curb weight just
over 4100 pounds—only 176 pounds
more than a comparably equipped M37,
according to Infiniti. Compared back-toback on the road with an M37, the hybrid
M feels significantly quicker, with sharper throttle response.
Visually, there’s not a whole lot to differentiate the M35h from its gasolineonly counterparts save for the M35h
badge on the rear decklid. A unique
instrument display with an electric-only
odometer distinguishes this model, as
does the real-time power diagram displayed on the infotainment screen,
allowing the driver to see whether gas or
electric power (or both) are being used,
and the current battery charge. All of
Infiniti’s optional equipment packages
are offered in the M35h, and our tester
had nearly the full smattering, including
rich leather interior surfaces, a harddrive-based navigation system, a 16speaker Bose stereo, and climate-controlled front seats.
As Infiniti’s first foray into the hybrid
world, the M35h is a tentative testing of
the waters for brand. Production figures
and sales goals have yet to be determined,
though the vehicle will be on sale in the
US and Europe this spring. Infiniti engineers say the hybrid powertrain could be
a good match in some of the brand’s other
models, including the G sedan or QX
SUV. Still, future Infiniti hybrids are far
from certain, as execs will measure the
success of the M35h before venturing further. After our stint in the M35h, we’d say
Infiniti is off to a good start.

Annie Khalid-the Britney Spears of Pakistan
Sam Sahotra signed for playback singing in Bollywood
SOON after the launch of her own restaurant, the AK
Lounge, the Tu Hi Hai Mera Pyar Mahiya singer Annie Khalid
has been chased for an interview in UK magazine LOOK. In
her interview, she has called herself as Britney Spears of
Pakistan and has also shared many hidden aspects of her
life. Annie Khalid who enjoys a celebrity status in Pakistan is
actually a very simple girl in UK who loves to hang out with
friends and eats ice cream while wandering in streets. The
interview also covers her extreme hard work and dedication
that paved her way to be recognised in local and international markets.
PAKISTANI bhangra singer Sam Sahotra has been approached
for playback singing in an Indian film. He will sing a melo number for the movie. The lead vocalist of the Pakistani Punjabi
bhangra band, Sam Sahotra will now cast the spell of his Punjabi
voice in an Indian film. Like many other talented Pakistani
singers stepping in Bollywood, Sam Sahotra has also joined the
queue. He released his solo album Lak Tera Hilley in India,
Pakistan, Canada and America and gained recognition worldwide. During an interview, Sam Sahotra said, “He will sing a
love romantic song Dil Chandra for Bollywood film. Yet the cast
of the film is still undecided but will be revealed soon”.

S Pakistan’s former captain,
Imran Khan stamped the
cricket field with his talent
and charisma. Years later,
he is just as famous after
transforming into a successful politician
and social activist. The movie based on
the former cricket star’s life, which is still
in post-production phase, explores the
experiences of a man who dedicates his
life to his country while also struggling
with personal and spiritual anguish.
Faisal Aman Khan, an independent
filmmaker who is based in the UK,
is directing the film. Aman Khan
admitted that he had the idea of
making this movie two years ago after
he graduated from film school.
According to his colleagues, Faisal met
Imran Khan several times during the
research phase of the project to get his
endorsement.
“Imran Khan was reluctant at first and
claimed that it was more important to
focus on other aspects of the country,
Faisal’s persistence finally paid in ultimately convincing him,” said Naveed
Anwar, the film’s assistant director and
screenwriter. “We wanted to make a film
that would project the positive side of
Pakistan. It was hard as there are very
few personalities in Paksitan that have a
global appeal.”
Anwar, who has directed several short
films, explained that the story centres on
how Khan’s disappointment at Pakistan’s
dismal state of affairs triggered him to
enter the political arena. He also juxtaposes Khan’s struggle for Pakistan’s
future with that of Mohammad Ali
Jinnah’s.
The film also recreates
scenes of major incidents
such as his arrest at
Punjab University in
Lahore, his hunger
strike while in jail
and then certain
intimate
scenes
with his ex-wife,
A
Jemima Khan.
A big challenge before shooting the
movie was the selection of the actor suitable for the protagonist’s role. After
numerous screen tests and auditions for
the lead role, the team decided to pick
local model Abdul Mannan, who has an
uncanny resemblance to the cricketer.
Anwar said that it was especially difficult
to find someone who could play Khan’s
part, since there were very few people
who match the physical features and
demeanour of the 1992 World Cup captain.
Mannan, who is not an avid follower of
Pakistani politics due to its dismal state,
said that he had to study various video
clips of the cricketer-turned-politician to
do justice to the role. He claimed that the
film provided inspiration and would
make people realise the state of the country and hence take more interest in its
affairs. “There have been films such as
Jinnah and Gandhi, this is another
inspiring story of a nation’s hero,” said
Mannan. “There are things people forget
about him.”
Mannan is paired with Saeeda Imtiaz,
a Pakistani-American model based in
New York, who is playing Jemima
Khan’s role. Her role highlights the various challenges of living in Pakistan that
Khan’s former wife faced and also highlights her complex relationship with the
former cricket star. Imtiaz, who took
nearly six months to prepare for her
part, says “The way the movie is shot —
the use of lighting and the fact that the
filmmakers are young and full of ideas
— will give the film a unique look,”
said Imtiaz.
Insiders claim that the film will be
ready for distribution this fall but are
staying tight-lipped about the scheduled date for the release.
Currently, the plan for distribution is that it will get a theatrewide release in Pakistan and
abroad as well. Over 107 actors
have been used for the movie
and the production team
includes 12 people.

Shabana Azmi to make
Lollywood debut
Shabana

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK
REVIOUSLY we saw
Indian actors like Kiran
Kher and Naseeruddin
Shah making their
Lollywood debut and playing a
significant role in success of
films like Khamosh Paani and
Khuda Key Liye respectively.
And now just at the time when
famous Indian actress Shwetta
Tewari and comedian Johnny
Lever are in news for their
involvement in some of the big
upcoming Pakistani films; we
got to hear an another addition
to this list, and that too of one
very famous and veteran Indian
actress Shabana Azmi.
The 60 year old Shabana Azmi
is going to be the part of upcoming Pakistani film The Dusk
which is currently in it’s last
stages of production and will
soon be ready to hit countrywide cinemas. The actress is
expected to come to Pakistan

soon for shooting her part.
Confirming the news, producer of the film Wajahat
Abbas Kazmi said, “Well yes,
news is absolutely correct and
Shabana Azmi will be here soon
to get her work recorded in
cameras, and we hope that her
presence in the movie will add
an extra value to it”.
When asked about the role of
the actress in the movie, he said,
“Though I can’t disclose much
about it now, but let me tell you
that although her role is going to
be a small one but it’s really a
very strong role and holds a
great significance in the movie”.
Apart from this, talking about
the current status of the film,
Wajahat said, “Film has got few
sequences left, which will hope-
fully be done soon and as the
shooting work finishes, we will
send it to Bangkok for all the
post-production work”.
The Dusk is a forthcoming
Pakistani film introducing two
new faces Suliaman Khan and
Uzma Khan in lead roles.
The story of the movie
revolves around a newly married couple Ali and Fatima. Ali
was mysteriously kidnapped at
5th day of marriage, kidnappers
demanded ransom nor did they
contact back. Now, life of this
couple has been controlled by
panic and fear.
Besides this, some real life
factors such as one of Osama
Bin Laden’s death and it’s aftermaths are also made part of the
movie, bringing it more closer to
the reality of the daily life.
The inclusion of the seasoned
actress in the film is surely
something that will bring more
strength to the movie but it’s
time that will decide how it
works in real means.

Paris Hilton gets cozy with Hangover director
Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds
finalise divorce
Scene

www.qatar-tribune.com
SOCIALITE Paris Hilton seems to have
moved on from her split from Cy Waits as
she was spotted getting cozy with
Hangover director Todd Phillips. The two
went to meet Nicky Hilton at the
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and later the
duo sat at a secluded table and they were
seen sharing kisses, reports
usmagazine.com. The 30-year-old split
from the nightclub entrepreneur Waits last
month after 18 months of relationship.
THE Green Lantern and Black Widow, or at least the actors who play
them on the big screen, are officially single again. Court records show a
judge finalised the divorce Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson on
Friday in Los Angeles. Reynolds appeared in the recent film adaptation of
the DC comic The Green Lantern, filed for divorce in December. The filing came shortly after the couple, which kept their courtship and nuptials
private, announced they had split. The final divorce judgment filed on
Friday did not say how the pair would divide their assets. Johansson portrays the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and the upcoming Avengers film.

Selena Gomez not
particularly
appealing or funny
REUTERS
LAT champagne for the under-aged, Monte Carlo lays
out yet another banquet of materialist fantasies for
aspiring American princesses cloaked in reminders to
obey your conscience and not to forget your true self.
Fair enough, but after a suitably air-headed opening
stretch, this Fox release begins taking the romantic yearnings
and regretful second thoughts of its girly threesome rather
more seriously than might be to the taste of Selena Gomez’s
core fan group, which would perhaps prefer to see the girls
just having more fun. The film opened on Friday as counterprogramming to the new Transformers sequel.
An earnest Texas kid who’s saved waitressing tips to treat
herself to a high school graduation trip to Paris, Grace
(Gomez) will be traveling not only with best pal Emma (Katie
Cassidy), a high-spirited gal not prone to excess reflection, but
also, as an unwanted chaperone, with her drippy stepsister
Meg (Leighton Meester), a perennially down-in-the-dumps
21-year-old so morose she could cast a pall on a dinner party
hosted by Noel Coward.
With Emma rebuffing a last-second marriage proposal
from nervous boyfriend Owen (Cory Monteith), the trio jets
off to the City of Light, where their guide provides a tour so
ludicrously accelerated that the wonders
of Paris are offered as so much fast
food; it all makes you wish you were
watching Midnight in Paris for a
second time instead of this.
But there is relief in store for
the girls, if not so much for the
viewer, when Grace is mistaken for zillionairess Cordelia
Winthrop Scott, an extravagantly snooty Brit who’s
imminently due to preside over
a charity event in Monaco.
Without a moment to
protest, Grace and her willing entourage are swooped
onto the lookalike’s private
jet and installed in the
Grimaldi Suite at the infinitely
swank Hotel de Paris, where
Monte Carlo suddenly
becomes their oyster.
Affecting a posh English
accent, Grace is tended to by
a sweet young Frenchman
(Pierre Boulanger) whose
Selena
family has lent its name to the
Gomez
auction, her other ornament
being an elaborate necklace,
the disappearance of which
comes to figure prominently
in the plot. For their parts,
Emma is given reason to
question her loyalty to Owen
by a blindingly handsome
Italian (Giulio Berruti) and
Meg is shaken out of her stupor by rugged Aussie backpacker Riley (Luke Bracey).
Although she gets by for a
while by mostly keeping her
trap shut, Grace’s imposture
soon wears dangerously thin
and the combination of mistaken identity, missing jewels,
upscale European settings,
hotel room slapstick and
momentary amatory wistfulness
combine to create the impression that director and co-screenwriter Thomas Bezucha (The
Family Stone) is attempting an
aspirational Blake Edwards
romantic farce, albeit far more
wished for than achieved.
Especially in the final stretch, the
characters go through crises of conscience that force them, even in this
contrived context, to assess what’s
truly important to them, and Grace is
obliged to make a very public confession while Cordelia gets what passes for
a comeuppance.
Even as she is the centre of attention
here in a double role, the jury is still out on
Gomez’s bigscreen potential; she’s not very
appealing or magnetic here, nor does she
display any particular comic gifts for this
sort of broad fare. Cassidy’s lines are
mostly low-grade wisecracks, while
Meester becomes an increasingly
welcome presence the more Meg
lightens up.

weeks
after
Arnold
Schwarzenegger revealed he had
fathered a child out of wedlock, his
wife Maria Shriver filed divorce
papers on Friday to end their marriage of 25 years.
The former television journalist and
Kennedy family heir cited irreconcilable differences but offered no additional details
about the breakup.
She also did not list a date when the couple
separated, although they announced they had
done so on May 9.
A week later, the former action star and former governor admitted he
fathered a child with a
member of his household
staff years ago.
Shriver’s filing does not
indicate the couple has a
prenuptial
agreement,
which
likely
means
Schwarzenegger’s earnings from his career as a
Hollywood megastar will
be evenly divided with his
estranged wife.
She is seeking spousal
support but any amount
would be determined
later, either through a settlement agreement or by a
judge. The former couple’s
breakup is expected to be handled mostly
behind closed doors.
Several of Schwarzenegger’s biggest hits,
including Predator, True Lies and the blockbuster sequel Terminator 2 were made during his marriage to Shriver.
Shriver was an award-winning television journalist but put her career on
hold when Schwarzenegger ran for
governor.
Economic
disclosure
forms
filed when Schwarzenegger left
as California governor in January
show he has interests in at least eight
entities each worth $1 million or more.

The forms show the Terminator star still
retains rights to intellectual property from his
days as a fitness guru and movie star.
Shriver’s holdings are more modest but are
listed in the disclosure as being worth more
than $1 million. She is a member of the
Kennedy family and is a beneficiary of some of
its assets, and also owns rights and royalties
from her work as an author, the filings show.
In recent months, Shriver has appeared in
videos posted on YouTube in which she talks
about stress in her life, the weight of expectations and the search for faith in a troubled
world.
She signed her divorce petition roughly two
weeks ago, but her attorney filed it Friday
afternoon.

He failed to fix the state’s chronic budget

BOLLYWOOD superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has been

of the people gifted with the ability to sing. “I really envy
all who can sing. I believe the most personal gift of Allah
to anyone alive is the ability to sing,” Shah Rukh posted
on his Twitter page. Encouraging others who feel hesitant
about their abilities, he added: “So to all the singers (bathroom ones included) keep singing and make life your

OOD height and an attractive face are
just not enough to get a place in
Sushmita Sen’s Wadhawan Lifestyle I
Am She contest. The former beauty
queen and actress says the most important criterion for selection is a person with “good
character”.
“When I say character, I mean that a lot of women
who come are very beautiful but some of them can
do anything to achieve what they want. Such girls
don’t belong to I Am She,” Sushmita said in an interview.
The Wadhawan Lifestyle I Am She contest has
been choosing India’s official entry for the Miss
Universe contest since last year. For 2010, Ushoshi job - creating awareness is an expensive proposition,

Next year, Sushmita plans to give extra global
title. Earlier, Femina Miss India title holders particexposure to the finalists by taking them

This year, 20 candidates have been shortlisted. abroad for grooming sessions.
Before the names are finalised, Sushmita said, “We
speak to them, we do background checking”.
Sushmita, who became the first Indian woman to
win the Miss Universe crown in 1994, added: “We
don’t send a girl to Miss Universe (competition) if we
haven’t done a proper background check because we
don’t want the girl to get disqualified on any
grounds.
“The cases of women being married and
not showing they are married or any other
problem are on the rise. Being an international winner is about having character. You can be very beautiful, very
tall, fit the bill in every aspect, but if
you don’t have a character, then
there is a lesser chance of you
getting selected.”

Sushmita, 35, said candidates were learning and getting better.

“Next year onwards a new chapter begins - the

In 2000, Lara Dutta became the second Indian to

Asked why, Sushmita, who has acted in films like

“Awareness.”
“Properties of cricket as a sport worked because
they are sponsor-driven. The awareness is huge. My

for India again but also to create the kind of awareness where state-wise people cheer for their girl and

cheer for the country. We need to start taking these
girls seriously,” she said.
