Parking at Lake Elmo
There will be plenty of parking at Lake Elmo in the upper parking lot.
You can also park in the FWP Parking lot near the pier.
Transition Area
Transition area will open at 6:00am. And will close at 7:20 for the
Olympic, and 7:40 for everyone else. This will be strictly enforced and
will result in a DQ if not followed.
BIBS
You will get a race bib that must be won on the front during the run.
Aid Stations:
There will be no aid station on the bike course.
There will be an aid station near Annandale Rd on the Run Course.
There will also be water and snacks at the end.

Packet Pickup
Packet Pickup will be at Thirsty Street Brewing Company on Friday, August 26th. Packet Pickup
will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Thirsty Street is located at 3008 1st Ave North in Downtown
Billings
Out-of-town packet pickup will be at Lake Elmo on Saturday, August 27 th, beginning at 6:00am.
As this is a USAT Sanctioned Triathlon, you will have to bring your State Issued ID. If you have
an annual membership with USAT, you will need to bring your USAT member card as well.
Transition: Transition will open at 6:00am. There will be a few people walking around the
transition area to write your age on your right calf, and bib number on your right arm.
Transition will close at 7:20 for Olympic participants and 7:40 for Sprint Particpants.

OLYMPIC AND OLYMPIC RELAY:
Swim: There will be a pre-race meeting on the beach at 7:20am. The race will start promptly at
7:30am.
The swim begins with “dry-feet”, and will consist of two clock-wise loops around the bouys.
You will exit the water, run up the beach, over the timing mats, and into the transition area.
Transition 1: Grab your biking gear and exit out of the “Bike Out/Bike In” exit of the transition
area. DO NOT GET ON YOUR BIKE UNTIL YOU HAVE CROSSED THE TIMING MATS. Biking over
the timing mats will result in a penalty.

Bike: Head right out of the parking lot onto Rolling Hills Dr. Take a right on Lake Elmo Dr, and
follow Lake Elmo Dr until you get to Wicks. Take a right on Wicks. Ride all the way up Wicks
until it turns into Skyway Dr. Take a right at the “T Intersection” with Alkali Creek Rd. You will
travel about 1 mile in this direction.
Do a hairpin turn and head back down Alkali Creek Rd. Ride with Traffic until you get to Alkali
Creek School. You will get onto the bike path near the school. Follow the bike path and go
through the tunnel going under Alkali Creek Rd, and then through the tunnel under E Airport
Rd. Follow the bike path all the way to the turnaround. The Turnaround will be just passed the
restrooms on top of the Rims. Head back the exact same way you came.
From the first tunnel (Under Alkali Creek Rd) to the top of the climb is a NO PASSING ZONE.
From the top of the climb back down to the first tunnel (Under Alkali Creek Rd) is a NO PASSING
ZONE. (See map below).
Olympic Bike Course:

This is the “No Passing Zone”. If someone is walking their bike up the hill or has mechanicals,
or is moving very slowly, you can pass. USE EXTREME CAUTION, especially on the way back
down the hill.
Transition 2: Coming back into the transition zone, dismount your bike before you cross the
timing mats. Riding your bike over the timing mats will result in a penalty.

Run: Exit the transition area at the “Swim in/Run Out” timing mats. Head down the sidewalk
clockwise around the lake. Follow the gravel path around the lake until you get to the lower
parking lot, transition into the road, and exit the Lake Elmo State Park, heading right on Rolling
Hills Dr. Stay on this road as it turns into Riveroaks Dr. Turn around at the cone/waterstop at
the “T-Intersection” with Annandale Rd. Head back to Lake Elmo St Park. Take a right into the
lower parking lot. Follow the markings on the road, the flagging, and the cones to get back onto
the sidewalk. Continue on the sidewalk, and run past the transition zone, to start your second
5k loop.
End of First Run Loop: (Follow the red directional arrows on the maps. Stay on the sidewalk
and run past the transition area to start your second run lap.

Full Second Loop:
End of Second Loop: (INTO THE FINISH LINE) At the end of the second loop, follow the gravel
path that is right before the playground equipment, and head into the finish line.

Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon:
SPRINT TRIATHLON SWIM: There will be a pre-race meeting on the beach at 7:50am. The
Sprint Triathlon will start promptly at 8:00am. Duathlon will begin at 8:10 near the restrooms.

Elmo St Park. Take a right into the lower parking lot. Follow the markings on the road, the
flagging, and the cones to get back onto the sidewalk. Continue on the sidewalk, and run into
the transition zone at the “Swim In/Run Out” Timing mats.)

THIS IS WHERE THE SPRINT BIKE COURSE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE OLYMPIC DISTANCE. Turn
left onto Alkali Creek and travel about 1.5 miles down Alkali Creek Rd, and turn around the
cone that will have a sign that says “SPRINT TURNAROUND”. Head back the exact same way
you went out!
Sprint Bike Course:

YK FEST / AFTER PARTY / AWARDS CEREMONY
The YK Fest will begin at Thirsty Street Brewing Company in Downtown Billings at 11:30am.
In your race packet, you will receive a Beer/Food ticket. Your beer ticket is good for one free
beer at the Thirsty Street Brewing Co Tent/Table. Your food ticket is good for one free medium
bowl of noodles from the Noodles O’Brien. (Bring your ID if you intend to drink. You can also
get an extra beer ticket with a $3 donation to the Yellowstone Kelly Interperative Site).
At the YK Fest will also be live music by Krystal Hydak and a Strider Bike course for the kids!
The Awards Ceremony will start at 1:00pm.
There will be a prize for overall in each race, as well as age group prizes. Double Dipping is
allowed for awards (ie overall winners will win their age groups).
The top Team will receive a prize as well.
