It has been my
pleasure to serve
as Chair of KEDA
for the last year.
Working with an
excellent Board
of Directors and a
top notch staff,
we’ve had a strong
year.
At our Board Retreat we became reengaged and more knowledgeable,
enabling us to better tell and sell the
Kitsap Story. Out of the Retreat came the
launch of a new multi-media marketing
campaign, Kitsap Connected. This
compelling video campaign will be used
by our public and private sector partners
to retain and attract talent, customers,
and new businesses to our community.
We have stepped up our PTAC efforts this
year. I can personally attest to our
success: my business was awarded a
Seaport-e Contract with the Department
of Defense as a direct result of the
encouragement and support of our PTAC
office. KEDA tracks the millions of dollars
in contracts that our PTAC clients receive,
and we are excited to be able to increase
PTAC classes and counseling hours this
coming year.
Financially, KEDA is gaining strength. We
really appreciate the commitment of our
public sector partners who have solidly
supported us over the past years. In the
last year, we have enjoyed increased
support from our private sector partners,
growing their investment from $79,000 in
2011 to over $155,000 in 2012, a 97%
increase.
Kitsap is on the move today. We’re telling
our story, we’ve partnered to move the
Kitsap Aerospace and Defense Alliance
forward, and we’re upping our game in
the region. As Chris Rieland says, Kitsap is
the emerging market in the Seattle region.

worked in a variety of U.S. markets and in communities across
Washington State and throughout the Puget Sound. My multi-market
experience underscores my appreciation for the integral role Kitsap

requests immediately. Others, particularly larger
recruitment and expansion cases representing large
employment bases or challenging site selection
requirements, require extended consultations and
assistance. Many of these cases can span 18 months
or more. Throughout the case activity, KEDA provides
consistent communication and professional assistance
to the client, with referrals, introductions and problem
