Fall 2015 OWNER TESTIMONIAL Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort ORLANDO, FLORIDA My husband Terry and I have two adult daughters who each gave us a grandson. With that said, I have the most adorable grandsons EVER; Cooper and Gabriel (pictured). Of course it was time to take them to the happiest place on earth — Walt Disney World®! And the grandest resort to vacation for such an occasion? Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort. We booked the 3-Bedroom Deluxe Unit in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, with the balcony facing the theme park, with a perfect view of the park’s nightly fireworks. We also invited my parents to come along in celebration of their 56th wedding anniversary. Nine family members spread out comfortably in this spacious HOUSE! The huge dining room table accommodated the entire family, the living room area large enough for the boys to romp and play and don’t get me started on all the things available for the boys to do, starting with the playground, a children’s water feature and the different swimming pools. The web page for Wyndham Bonnet Creek under the resort details says “this is no ordinary stay.” Understatement! Only three miles from the gates of the theme park, we didn’t have to worry about waking up extra early to drive a great distance. Knowing we were so close, we could stay for hours enjoying ourselves. Future vacations to the theme parks in Central Florida are something we plan to do at least once a year. Though we have several theme parks to choose from, there is only one choice of where to stay — Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort! I longed to have more time to explore America’s most visited national park. The opportunity came in the summer of 2010 when my family and I attended a conference in Sevierville, Tennessee. We decided to stay at the Wyndham Smoky Mountains located within Sevierville. The resort was set well off the main thoroughfare, and provided surprisingly beautiful views of the forests and mountains from the unit balconies. Inside, the apartment was spacious and well Fall 2015 designed to accommodate a family. The resort was perfectly positioned within the tri-fecta of Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg, so it was not far to reach any of the local destinations. The area has something to offer for everyone, which was excellent for a family who has varying interests. Dollywood’s Dixie Stampede dinner show was an entertaining highlight — a fun utensil-less meal coupled with an exciting live-action performance. Other attractions that caught our eye but we did not visit were the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge and the Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg. Our week ended too soon, with good impressions made and many adventures still to be had. The Smoky Mountains are full of unexpected surprises that will leave memories for years to come, worth putting on any family’s bucket list. WYNDHAM WATCH Scambusters KEEPING YOU POSTED Your Scambusters team wants to ensure you’re being provided the most up-to-date information on the latest scams targeting timeshare owners. We will continue to support consumer protection legislation and to inform you of scam that may affect you. Proceed with EXTREME CAUTION RENTAL SCAMS The latest scam we’ve heard about targets those wanting to rent their timeshare. Defrauding Travelers: • Some companies are creating websites aimed at taking up-front money from travelers booking vacations with the promise of a reservation at a timeshare resort. Unfortunately, the promised reservation does not exist. A renter shows up at the resort, but there is no unit reserved or available. • These companies keep the up-front money, don’t arrange alternative lodging for the renter, and do not answer emails or phone calls. Defrauding Timeshare Owners: • Other timeshare rental companies have promised quick rental of your timeshare with the promise of a high return. • The companies offer too-good-to-be-true deals in the hopes of getting their hands on your timeshare, your money, or both. If you decide to rent from or with a third party timeshare company, please ensure you are dealing with a reputable business. You don’t want to get mixed up in someone else’s fraudulent scheme. Fall 2015 JUSTICE PREVAILS For several years, Wyndham Vacation Ownership and our owners have partnered with the FBI in their criminal investigation of one of the largest scam companies in the industry — the Vacation Ownership Group (VO Group). We’re pleased to share that one of the company’s principals, Adam Lacerda, was sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in a $3 million conspiracy to scam timeshare owners. His wife, Ashley Lacerda, and two other individuals were also convicted. Thirteen other defendants pled guilty.
