FALL 2013 GREETINGS FROM PRAYER MOUNTAIN! by Terry Brim The Heavens proclaim the Glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. (Psalm 19:1 NLT.) Well, it's been awhile since we got to visit and I want to be a good neighbor, so pull up a chair and sit awhile. Oh, don't worry about getting too close to that pot-bellied stove. It's not hot; it is just a little warm. I made a pot of coffee on it earlier. But it won't be long from now that I'll be firing that old thing up because the season change is fast approaching. Yes, Fall, my favorite time of the year with fresh, cool air from the north, and the fire colored leaves of the oaks and hickories. It kind of reminds me of the glory of our Father. It is October 23rd through the 28th , and my Mom, my brother Chip, the Copelands, Lynne Hammond, and you and I will be working corporately in prayer another year, and I expect another full manifestation of His glory. You know, you are right, I think that is what it's going to take in these times. Yes sir, unity and glory! Speaking of glory, the other night my wife, Lynn, and my son Isaac, who is four now, were lying on a blanket outside. We were staring into the Ozark night sky, and talking about how the heavens declare God's glory. By the way, did any of you get to watch any of the Perseid meteor showers? Not only did it declare His glory, but it reminded us of our Father's protection. Yes, that wonderful life-sustaining atmosphere also protects us from meteors. And what did you say? Jupiter. Well, you are right! That planet our Father provided to protect us from comets that would otherwise destroy our homes. Oh my, how did we get so far off the subject? Where were we? Oh yes, fall. Well, if you know anyone that would like to join us for this year's meeting tell them we would look for- ward to working corporately with them this year. Also remind them, any of your friends, that if they want to experience these Ozark days and nights first hand, they can come and stay in our beautiful log cabins. They will get a view from the best Landscaper in the world. That's right! Our Father, God! Well, where did the time go? I know we both have some chores to see to. You know how it goes when you and I get started talking about His goodness. We could just go on forever. Till next time we meet, I cover you with faith and love. A WEDDING IN THE OZARKS Terry PRAYER MOUNTAIN NEWS t was a beautiful day in the Ozarks! Family and friends happily witnessed the joining in marriage of Kylie Oaks and James Gatewood at Prayer Mountain in the Ozarks on Saturday, June 29th, 2013. Kylie is the daughter of Shelli (Brim) Baggett and the late Robert (Bob) Oaks. Her maternal grandparents are Billye Brim and the late Kent Brim. Her paternal grandparents are the late Robert and Betty Oaks. James is the son of Effie Gatewood and the late George Gatewood. I 2 The attendants walked on a carpet of green grass from the Administration Building to the outdoor altar under a canopy overshadowed by trees. The bride's brother, Cody Oaks, escorted her and gave her away in behalf of her family. In the beautiful spring-like weather, the ceremony was Holy Spirit led as Pastor George Pearsons, of Eagle Mountain Church, Newark, Texas, officiated. The Lord awoke Pastor George early that morning and gave him a word for the newlyweds. Here is a portion of that wonderful word: This union will result in many, continual, manifestations of the goodness of God…Starting today! Praise God! Immediately after the ceremony everyone went to the chapel and enjoyed great fellowship at a reception and a delicious meal. Both the bride's cake and the groom's were donated by Dino and Cheryl Kartsonakis (Dino's 24 Karrot Cakes Company, Branson, MO). The happy newlyweds reside in their new home in Bella Vista, Arkansas, near where Jimmy works as a Senior Sourcing Analyst for the Wal-Mart Corporation. Kylie is enjoying being a new wife as well as continuing to work in the ministry. THE GREAT THAYER MISSOURI REVIVAL OZARKS’ TREASURY by Brenda Brim Krukow I have held this article for almost three years, waiting for the perfect time to print it. However, I knew the season was now with the summer weddings, and then the cherry-on-top, Mom just finishing the Revelation School that tells of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Brenda eptember 2010: After learning about an intriguing tombstone in Thayer, Missouri how could two newlyweds (married June 2010) resist such an adventure on a perfect fall day? So Tony and I headed two hours east to the Thayer Missouri Cemetery. Sure enough we found it with the help of two widowed ladies—Charlene and Judy. Not to my surprise, Tony hitit-off with them and found out that Judy went to brush arbor meetings in the area as a child. Behind this tombstone is nothing less than the Holy Spirit's power that all began from a famous revival in Thayer, Missouri, in 1909. It is described in the book, The Sparkling Fountain by Fred T. Corum, and Hazel E. Bakewell. The authors' mother was Lilly Harper Corum, the first documented Spirit-filled account in Springfield, Missouri in 1907. (The authors' Aunt Rachel went to Azusa and came back and set the Ozarks on Holy Ghost fire.) Their mother's sister, Florence, was married to Charlie Taliaferro. It was "Uncle Charlie" and "Aunt Florence's" tombstone that Tony and I went to see. It is relevant to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and John Davis, who shook Yellville, Arkansas, S (about 50 miles southeast of and came to Mother Barnes’ tentPrayer Mountain) with Holy meeting to see the show. He was gloriously and thoroughly saved Ghost Power. and filled with the Holy Ghost. Back in those days when you got the Holy Ghost, it put the "go" in your feet and John Davis became a preacher. He just started preaching and relied on the Holy Spirit to show him what to say. Uncle Charlie loved him, as did many others, and he would travel many miles just to hear John Davis preach. Joe Duke recognized the stamp of God upon Brother Davis' ministry and bought him a tent to hold meetings in. John Davis held tentmeetings all over Arkansas. Once when Uncle Charlie was very sick, he sent for John Davis, and he came and John Davis, Ozark Pentecostal Preacher. prayed. The unction and power of my prayer life was so upon me that during the meeting, I would lean over on the front seat, and while he preached, I P would weep. When he finished preaching, I would leap to the platform, and in less that fifteen minutes, the altars would be jammed with men and women weeping and seeking God." The message of the Thayer Revival was, "'Jesus is coming soon; prepare to meet Him.' That was the message which the Spirit gave the people when they received the Baptism." Of course there was opposition. Once Brother Bowley narrowly escaped from being hung by "a group of six-shooters." However, "a number of their tormentors were saved…several on their beds at night. They cursed and asked for someone to come and pray for them saying, "'I'm dying-I'm going to hell.'" It was said of Brother Bowley from his colleagues, “...his burning desire was to point souls to the manifested love of God at Calvary.” All quotes taken from the book, The Sparkling Fountain and an article, The Thayer Revival, written by Harry Bowley. www.ifphc.org/pdf/Heritage/1982_02.pdf? 5 THE ADVENTURES OF YOYO, SHEP, & SCOUT THE DOGS OF PRAYER MOUNTAIN by DORIS ANN BYRD s you know our beloved Bubba moved to heaven in the fall last year. I'm sure it was a surprise to him, and it was a time of sadness for us. But pressing on to the high calling that lies ahead and not looking back we want to introduce you to our new little fellow, YoYo. He came to us early in January. Terry was in Tulsa at the pet store and there was a little family of mixed breed bull dogs ready for new adoptive families, but they were all spoken for. Terry thought one would have been a perfect Prayer Mountain dog, but he came home somewhat d i s a p pointed. A call came the next day that the "cream of the crop" from that family had been returned to the pet store. Terry turned right around and went back to the pet store, and returned with YoYo, who looks similar to Pete, the Little Rascals' faithful dog. What a joy he has been to Terry, Isaac, Lynn and the staff! So begins the training and teaching of YoYo. He is being trained much like our United States Marines are trained. Few know how they are trained, but the results are astounding, with- A 6 out fail. Do we have a dog training school at Prayer Mountain? We surely do. Shep is the head master and teacher with Scout as the aide-de-camp. The manual used for training is from Sister Billye's lessons on walking in love, which came from God's lessons in 1 Corinthians 13. Shep and Scout have been drilled on these lessons and for the most part follow the teachings. Shep and Scout know there The Dogs of Prayer Mountain YoYo (left), Scout & Shep (right) is no running off this new little puppy, and no need to do anything underhanded because he is cuter, tinier, and the attention getter. So, the lessons on walking in love are necessary and vital until YoYo grows up. Love is never envious nor boils over with jealously. Shep had his eye on Bubba's great bed in the garage since Bubba's passing and had told Scout, "Don't even think about taking that bed because it is going to be mine." Scout, knowing that love never fails, said "you can have it." He didn't really have that thought in his heart, but as he spoke those words the empowerment of the Word made it so. Now who gets the big bed? YoYo just automatically went to the bed and took possession. Shep, realizing he is just a baby, didn't say a word. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes. Young dogs like to play; YoYo's best game is to run at Scout, jump on him and try to wrestle and growl him down. Shep is determined to see that come to an end. The teaching and training goes on and Terry has even had to step in and make corrective measures. Love is ever ready to believe the best of every person…YoYo is more than six months old now and has long, long legs. He still hasn't learned to wait on the visitors and pray-ers to acknowledge him before he greets and welcomes them with a jump toward them and upon them as young dogs who are loved are prone to do. Yet, he is teachable and is responding to the prodding of Terry, the staff, and most of all Shep and Scout. All of us are believing the best forYoYo, and that he will indeed come under the training and teaching. We all recognize that God has dealt with us time after time, forgiving and starting over again patiently and lovingly. Love never fails!
