They are used instead of more conventional flat preforms when either: (1) the part geometries surrounding the preform are better joined using a spherical shape rather than a flat shape, or (2) the alloys involved are not capable of being stamped into a flat shape. Coining can easily manufacture spherical preforms in diameters ranging from 0.020" (0.50mm) to 0.080" (2.0mm). Tolerances by weight are typically +/–5%. Please contact us for specifics and availability of other sizes. Coining specializes in non-routine, non-BGA (ball grid array) spherical soldering and brazing applications. Our spheres can be supplied after fluxing or without flux, whichever best suits your needs. Features Packaging Various packaging options are available based on customer needs. Non-contact desiccant is used as required. An inert argon atmosphere is available on request. Integrated Manufacturing Because of our fully integrated manufacturing capability, Coining can quickly and efficiently move from quote to shipment of a finished part. • Accurate diameters Coining Advantages • Bright and shiny surface finishes Coining strives to exceed our customers’ expectations for quality and responsiveness at every stage of interaction from original request for quotation to order fulfillment. This philosophy stems from the efforts of every individual and is further enhanced by an efficient and comprehensive technological and manufacturing structure. • Highly spherical shapes • With or without flux • Made from pure metal, combined to produce exact alloy compositions Typical Alloys The alloys most commonly requested by Coining customers are listed below. Please contact us for other available alloys. Purities are typically 99.99%. Higher purities may be available upon request.
