Love your spiritual family
You have heard it said, “The church is a body, not a building; an organism, not an organization.”
Each organ in your body has a purpose to fulfill, but first they must be connected to your body. The
same is true for you as a part of Christ's Body. You were created for a particular responsibility, but
you will fail to notice this if you're not attached to a living, local church.
You discover your role in life through your relationships with others. Just in the last few months
we have seen Ridgemont grow in body by adding just over 12 new members. We are excited to see
God working in people’s lives. Each person has a place to connect and grow in their personal relationship with Christ. We must help people discover where they will connect within the body.
The Bible tells us, "Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way
around. The body we're talking about is Christ's body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn't amount
to much, would we?" (Romans 12:4-5 MSG)
We need to remind ourselves, if an organ is somehow severed from its body, it will shrivel and
die. It cannot exist on its own, and neither can you. Disconnected and cut off from the lifeblood of a
local body, your spiritual life will wither and eventually cease to exist. (Ephesians 4:16)
This is why the first symptom of spiritual decline is usually inconsistent attendance at worship services and other gatherings of believers. Whenever we become careless about fellowship, everything
else begins to slide, too. So guard yourself from becoming disconnected and distant from the Body
(your spiritual family).
The Bible says, "Love your spiritual family." (1 Peter 2:17b MSG)
Membership in the family of God is neither unimportant nor something to be casually ignored.
The church is God's agenda for the world. Jesus said, "I will build my church, and all the powers of
hell will not conquer it." (Matthew 16:18 NLT)

You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected
by people, but He was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God

Kid’s News
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these.
Matthew 19:14
A couple of weeks ago a young lady came up to me at church and told me how excited her young daughter was to get
to come to church. She said that some mornings her daughter will wake up asking if they get to go to church, and she has to
tell her, “No it is just Tuesday”, then she will get bummed out. So, I asked the mother why she thought that her daughter
liked to come to church so much? She said that she likes to play with the other kids and has fun in her class.
This got me to thinking about the importance of attending church on a regular basis. Kids learn best when they are with
people they love and trust. Attending the same church each weekend encourages and enables relationships to be built within
Sunday school classes, between leaders and peers.
We as adults can learn from this, so often we think that we do not need to get plugged into a Sunday school class or we
do not need to get to know people at church. But the reality is we do, we all need relationships. We all need people in our
lives that will encourage us in the good times and the bad times. This month make it a point to get plugged in, parents especially, your children need it.
Enjoy God,
Eric
