Surrounded by a combination of idyllic rolling countryside, notable buildings and local amenities, this picturesque town boasts everything needed for modern living whilst retaining its unique sense of history. Saffron Walden was voted in the top 5 of Halifax’s ‘Best Places to Live’ survey. The town offers shoppers fantastic opportunities to meet everyday needs, featuring boutique style outlets in addition to the renowned high street brands. A bi-weekly market is also held, offering clothing, food and local farm produce. Truly spoilt in local facilities, Saffron Walden benefits from a gym, swimming pool, courts used for squash, tennis and badminton as well as the local leisure centre and a bowling club. Family fun for all can be found within the town’s skate parks and famous hedge maze at Bridge End Gardens. To take a step back in history, why not visit Audley End House and Gardens which offers the chance to experience one of England’s grandest stately homes and learn more about the Victorian lifestyle. The Common is one of the oldest of Saffron Walden’s open spaces and to the east is the largest turf labyrinth still surviving in Europe. It is also only 2 miles to Audley End railway station which can whisk you to London in just over an hour and Stansted Airport in 15 minutes amongst other notable destinations.
