Originally designed by Yale and US National
Team Rower John Duke, WaterRower continues
to dedicate itself to the sport of rowing, and
is proud to be at the pinnacle of a select few
specialist rowing machine manufacturers. To
this day WaterRower employs ex- national team
rowers, Henley Royal Regatta, and Head of the
Charles River winners who help us bring the
incredible sport of rowing to the non- rower, in
its purest conceivable form.
When you compare an ‘88 WaterRower to the
current 2014 model the changes appear purely
stylistic but even then, the machines look similar.
It’s only when you look a little closer that you
can begin to understand the many processes
and safeguards that are undertaken each day
to ensure that every WaterRower is sent out
to perform at it’s optimal level, and ready to
withstand the most demanding of operating
conditions. The machines are constantly
improving, not just in terms of durability, but
also in terms of function. There’s an on-going
process by which we continue to refine and
improve the WaterRower so that every customer
has the same quality experience across the
range of products.
Not only do we hand-craft every machine, we
also regularly build and test our products inhouse, and then again if they’re sold from one
of our many global offices. After every round
of testing, by random selection, we un- box
and build a machine as part of a consistent,
weekly task which creates a fail-safe after
testing in production. This allows us to look
at packaging, packing, the assembly process,
and final functionality. This meticulous and
methodical process perpetuates the continued
improvement and evolution of the WaterRower
even after 25 years of innovation.
WaterRower proudly manufacture in the USA;
our complete range of wooden models are
sourced from sustainably managed hardwood
forests of the Appalachian Mountains. With a
worldwide network of offices, WaterRower has
grown to become a globally recognized brand.

The Ultimate
Rowing Simulator
Every facet of the WaterRower is designed to replicate the dynamics of rowing in a boat.
The smooth back- stroke, ergonomic rowing position, and satisfying sound of water
rushing centrifugally within the tank, create an unrivalled simulation of on- water rowing.
The structural qualities of every WaterRower are such that; the seat, footboard, and the
handle, mimic the positioning of these elements in a real boat. Thus, an ergonomically
sound platform for exercising is created. The Commercial Series’, as with the entire
WaterRower range, allow for the full- range of biomechanical movement from the catch,
through the full length of the stroke and all the way back through the recovery phase.
Not only that, but the design, and subsequent loading on the body, create a motion that
drastically reduces the risk of injury to the user, no matter their technical ability.

Sleek And Robust
The Commercial Series brings the distinct and unrivalled aesthetic appeal of the
WaterRower to the commercial environment. But don’t be fooled by the sleek lines and
tranquillity of the water; they are most at home exposed to the day-to-day rigours of the
high-traffic, gym environment. The light-weight, durable, aluminium frame of the M1 is
powder coated in silver and is exceptionally light to move, as is the hand-crafted Ash of
the Club. The S1 is certainly the heavier of the Commercial Series but the hand-made,
incredibly tough, stainless steel frame makes it virtually indestructible. It’s laser-cut steel
lines are quite stunning.

Low Maintenance
Gone are the days of greasing
a chain or vacuuming the dust
from an air fan.
Just adding a chlorine tablet to the water tank every 6 months and a wipe
of the rails after use is all that’s required. The quality and durability of the
components means that a WaterRower requires little in the way of servicing
and on-going maintenance. The beauty of the WaterRower really lies in it’s
simplicity and the non-complicated, yet flawless, operation. Gym owners
and staff alike can be safe in the knowledge that the WaterRower will rarely
appear on their servicing ‘to-do list’.

The Perfect
Calorie Burn
Rowing is undoubtedly the
most demanding of all the
individual cardiovascular
pursuits on the gym floor.
Recruiting 84% of musculature in any one stroke, the calorific burn can be
to up to 1000/hr! Although the majority of the work is carried by the legs,
the core and upper body are worked continuously, making it a total-body
exercise that is perfect for core stabilisation and promoting good posture.
The obvious cardiovascular and muscular training adaptations gained
from rowing are going to keep gym members coming back for more.

brands of equipment doesn’t
compromise the aesthetic or
styling of your facility.
Thankfully, at WaterRower our powder-coat painting for
our M1 Series rowing machines is performed in-house
which means you can choose from any one of 210 RAL
colours. We can match the colour of your WaterRower
to other equipment on your gym floor, or even paint the
rowers in keeping with your clubs colours and branding.

WATERFLYWHEEL The dual blade enclosed
within the water tank provides smooth, quiet, even
resistance, replicating the natural benefits of actual
river rowing. No wearing parts, so no maintenance
requirements. Infinitely variable resistance.

DUAL RAILS Four wheels and a set of four guide
wheels provide greater stability and a solid platform
for the seat to glide along. There is no lateral
movement or sound to speak of.

NYLON STRAPPING No chain to lubricate or rope
that might fray; The M1 uses a non-wearing, nylon,
recoil belt, and handle strap,
none of which requires maintenance.

ENCLOSED TANK Creates a unique self-regulating
resistance and minimises maintenance; simply
condition water by placing 1 chlorine tablet into the
tank every 6–12 months.

POWDER COATED ALUMINIUM Designed for

HEART RATE COMPATIBLE An analogue Polar
receiver box can be attached to the inside of the rail,
and is compatible with Polar transmitters. However,
a wireless Ant+ reciever can be fitted permanently
inside the S4 monitor. The S4 displays heart rate and
can be programmed for heart rate zone training.

INCREASED ENTRY HEIGHT HiRise adaptors elevate
the user to a seated position 508mm above the
floor. This is extremely advantageous to users with
mobility issues.

COMMERCIAL FOOT BOARD The notch, foot pad
system gives greater leeway to users still mastering
the rowing stroke. The immovable locking pad can
be altered to fit any shoe size when not in use.

from session to session, during your work. The functional, yet user-friendly design of the S4 performance
monitor, displays your physical output in the terms of an actual rowing boat. Users can change the
