About Mazzone Communications
Mazzone Communications is a marketing and communications firm located in Western Kentucky. Darlene Mazzone, president, was formerly a partner in LaneMazzone & Associates, a full service advertising agency, established in 1985. The firm successfully handled a client base over a 10-year period which included both regional and national accounts. The company also initiated several print products of its own including a municipal magazine for Paducah, Kentucky called PADUCAH LIFE Magazine. The company now also publishes The Wedding Book, an annual special edition. The original firm was instrumental in the launching of a mid-American boating magazine (Heartland Boating) and has also handled the design and pre-press of the nationally distributed Bass Fishing Magazine. In 1990, the firm created the design format and initial marketing materials for a new publication called Tails for the formal-wear industry. The firm won numerous awards presented by the American Federation of Advertising Agencies and has been twice featured in Print magazine, the design industry’s annual “best of design” publication. In 1990, a package design by the firm for its client, Story’s Gourmet Foods, Inc. was chosen as one of the top five best designed product labels at the International Fancy Food and Confection Show in New York City. In 1989, the firm captured the “Best of Show” award at the Ashland Regional Addy Competition for its profile piece for the Greater Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2005, the firm’s work on Heritage Bank’s “Bankers & Neighbors” campaign was the cover story of Financial Advertising Review, a national trade publication for banks, savings and loans and credit unions. The six-page layout profiled the concept developed by Mazzone Communications for Heritage Bank’s highly successful print advertising campaign—a positioning statement which is still in current use. In many large agencies, the new client is given an account executive, assigned a job number and placed in the workflow process. At Mazzone Communications you get personal service and continual involvement from the principles of the firm. That’s because we operate in a small agency environment and that’s the way we like it. When this firm was established, there was a conscious decision to operate in this market and to maintain the integrity and one-on-one kind of client approach that only a small agency can provide Consequently, we look for and devote our capabilities to the kind of client who can recognize quality and the creative thought process that is required to achieve it. Our philosophy as a firm is to, in effect, become the client’s marketing partner and to offer the kind of input and support that goes beyond the expectation. Mazzone Communications is a full-service agency incorporating expertise in all forms of integrated marketing. With audience fragmentation diluting accepted forms of electronic and print media, a client’s most effective means of reaching and stimulating its audience may come through public relations, direct marketing, promotional events, sponsorships and specialties as well as advertising. And these days it is becoming a well-known phenomenon that you don’t have to amass a monstrous staff of high overhead insiders to get the job done. In fact, there is a major trend in our society, not only in the world of marketing, but across many business disciplines to “out-source” specific jobs and project elements. We have at our disposal the artistic, photographic, media and research expertise of resources across the country. They are simply a phone call away. With a computer, phone, the web, we can access the skills of any marketing specialty that we might require. We have the world at our fingertips—right here in western Kentucky. Communications is the key. A sustained level of market awareness is the best investment for the continued success of any company. Corporate Identity Program Public Relations Media Placement A consistent and recognizable “look” should always be associated with any public dissemination of information. This identifiable corporate signature helps to position the company in a positive light and provides significant recall as the logo and name become more pervasive in the market. This corporate identity generally includes the logo, designated typefaces, color treatments, positioning statements, communication formats, stationery package, etc. Consideration should be given to a planned distribution of selected news releases that focus on your company and its features and benefits. These should be utilized on a scheduled basis and targeted to the selected media for greatest impact. This visibility is perceived as objective and credible. And it’s free. To introduce your company and its services, consideration should be given to media placement after the initial marketing strategies have been determined. That assessment and definition of the target tmarkets will dictate the selection of media outlets and locations. Regularly Scheduled Communications Utilizing the visibility at selected trade shows and conferences devoted to your industry will also provide an effective means of communications and potential sales. Profile Print Materials A print profile of your company will provide information for the prospective user to fully understand the provisions of your product/service and its benefits to the prospective buyer. The format of these pieces is determined upon detailed evaluation of the target market and end user. We would be involved in the concept, design, copy, photography, artwork, pre-press and production supervision from start to finish. Some form of regularly scheduled communications device should be utilized to consistently inform your prospective users of the benefits, new developments, and changes at your company. Development of Mailing List An effective and targeted mailing list should be developed for continual use in distributing pertinent communications. Trade Shows and Conferences Web Presence and E-Blasts Utilization of the web to profile the company and to provide one-on-one contact will be a key component in the continual dissemination of information about your company. Periodic e-messages may also be a useful tool to reach prospective users. Print/Design Advertising/Marketing Audio/Visual Public Relations Mazzone Communications • Past & Present Client List HT Marketing Michelson Jewelers Hawaiian Tropic Distributor Murray, KY Retail Jeweler Paducah, KY Purchase Area Physical Therapy Story’s Popcorn Company Bank of Dickson Denton & Keuler Manufacturer Wolf Island, MO Dickson, TN Legal Firm Paducah, KY Paducah, KY Citizens Bank & Trust PEBCO, Inc. SMALL BUSINESSES WITH FEWER THAN 500 EMPLOYEES DRIVE THE U.S. ECONOMY BY providing jobs for over half of the nation’s private workforce. The latest figures from the SBA show that small businesses with fewer than 20 employees increased employment by more than 800,000 in the past seven years. We believe that small companies are the backbone of any economy, including ours! “When I began my career in Paducah, I certainly wasn’t thinking of future generations of the Denton family being a part of the firm. Now that I am witnessing that reality, I am reminded that if not for the investment of past economic developers, our community would not have reached the heights that we enjoy at present. I want that for my son and for my grandson. I pledge to make that happen through the efforts of projects like GPEDC. Our communities are what WE make them. It is up to us.” —Dave and Glenn Denton, Denton & Keuler “As second and third generation business owners in Paducah, we appreciate the value of a strong economic foundation to keep our business viable and want the same quality of growth for future generations. We support the work of GPEDC so that local businesses can continue to thrive in and around our community, both now and in the years to come." —Helen and Mike Sims, Superior Care Home Achievements Since 2003 >> From 2003-2009 Paducah/McCracken County created or retained approximately 1,600 new jobs >> Local companies made more than $85 million in capital investments >> More than 140 new projects were initiated during that time >> A total of 25 business decisions and/or announcements were made within the city/county >> For the past three years Policom Corporation has ranked the Paducah Micropolitan Area in the top 20 Micropolitan Areas, in terms of economic strength, out of 574 Micropolitan Areas in the United States.
