Kentucky State Treasurer Allison
Ball will be the featured speaker for the
August Power in Partnership monthly
breakfast of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 4 at 7:30
a.m. at the Julian Carroll Convention
Center. Strawberry
Hills Pharmacy is

Ball is the youngest statewide
female elected official in the country. She is serving as the 38th state
treasurer of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky.
Prior to her role as state treasurer, she practiced bankruptcy law
Ball
and focused on consumer rights
and commercial litigation.
As part of her time in public service, Ball spent
four years as an Assistant Floyd County Attorney,
prosecuting child abuse and juvenile delinquency
cases. Ball’s family has been in Eastern Kentucky
since the 1790s. She holds a degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Ball is still active in her community,
serving as the Co-Chair of the Board
of Directors of the Young Professionals of Eastern Kentucky.
Matt Snow and Crystal Balentine,
co-chairs of the Paducah Young Professionals (PYP), will give an update
on the newly organized PYP group, which was started by the Chamber this year and now has about 150
members.

that helps enhance and grow
the Chamber through bringing
in new members and securing support for Chamber programs through sponsorships.

year. Zimmerman is the chair-elect of the Paducah Chamber and will become chair in January.
Zimmerman is known as a results-oriented
entrepreneur, dynamic leader and industry expert. She founded Payment Plus in 2000 and
based it in her hometown of Paducah following
a very successful career in Atlanta. Payment Plus
is a payment processing provider that provides

West Coast. She has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and credit card industry.
She was a founding member of NOVA Information Systems, Inc. (now Elavon), which grew to
became the 4th largest processor in the US. She
also spent several years at National Data Corporation (NDC) in account executive positions,
where she was the first woman at NDC to be recognized as sales person of the year.
The campaign kickoff will be held on Aug. 25,
from 4 to 6 p.m. as a Chamber Mixer for current
and potential members held at the Auburn Place
Hotel & Suites and hosted by the hotel, Holiday
Inn Express and Rafferty’s. The campaign finale
will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 6
p.m. hosted by Payment Plus and held at the
Commerce Center. All Chamber members are
invited to both events.

Peel & Holland was the sponsor for the
Chamber’s July Power in Partnership
Breakfast. The theme was a Salute to
the Local Non-Profits Related to Health
and Human Services, and 32 local organizations had displays. The speakers
were Kevin Middleton, president of United Way of Kentucky, and Helen Carroll,

1857 Boutique Hotel Wins State
Preservation Award
The 1857 Boutique Hotel and owners Paul Gourieux and Jorge Martinez were recently honored
at the 38th Annual Ida Lee Willis Memorial Foundation Historic Preservation Awards by the foundation in partnership with the Kentucky Heritage
Council / State Historic Preservation Office. They
received a Preservation Project Award. The award
recognizes outstanding examples of rehabilitation
or preservation of historic buildings or other types
of projects that have a significant impact on Kentucky’s built environment or historic or prehistoric
places.

Tourism Spending Increases in Paducah
The 2015 Economic Impact of Kentucky Tourism
Report shows an increase in tourism spending in
McCracken County with direct tourism expenditures totaling $223,590,307, an increase of 5.4%
from 2014. Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin and Tourism,
Arts & Heritage Secretary Don Parkinson released
the annual report, which cites that the statewide
travel and tourism industry added $13.7 billion to
Kentucky’s economy in 2015. Direct expenditures
by tourists account for over $8.7 billion of this total,
an increase of 5% since 2014. The Paducah Visitors
Bureau is the official Destination Marketing Organization for Paducah and McCracken County. For

Baptist Health Paducah Partners with
Yeiser Art Center

Willis Foundation. Baptist Health Paducah has donated $2,500 to
the Yeiser Art Center for a rotating exhibit featuring local artwork as part of its “arts in healing” program to showcase and support local arts. Hospital
president William A. Brown said the hospital supports several local performing arts, as well as this
visual arts organization, to enhance the community’s quality of life and economic development. The
Yeiser exhibit at Baptist Health will change every
six months.
Lourdes Announces Retirement of
President and CEO Steven Grinnell
Lourdes and Mercy Health recently announced the retirement
of Steven Grinnell, Kentucky
Region President & SVP and
Lourdes President & CEO, effective Jan. 7, 2017. Grinnell has led
the Kentucky Region since 2006.
“It has been a privilege serving
Lourdes and our community for
the past 10 years and I’m proud

of what we have achieved together during my time with this ministry,” said Grinnell.
During the transition, Mr. Grinnell will continue

native of Benton, she received a
Bachelor of Science degree from
Oklahoma Christian University
and graduated from The Cecil C.
Humphreys School of Law at The
University of Memphis. She has most recently been in
California, where she served as
a deputy district attorney for 10

Receives National Quality Award

The Baptist Health Paducah stroke program recently joined an elite group by being honored with
The Get With the Guidelines–Stroke Gold Plus
Quality Achievement Award for meeting national
guidelines for stroke care, as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
In addition, the hospital received the associations’ Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite for meeting
stroke quality measures that reduce the time between hospital arrival and treatment with the clotbuster tPA, the only drug approved by the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic
stroke.

Sean Oslin Joins Heartland CARES
Sean Oslin has been named
Executive Director of Heartland
CARES, Inc. Oslin has 25 years of
experience in the nonprofit sector,
including nearly 20 years working
in HIV and AIDS services. He has a
Master’s of Health Administration
from the University of Washington
and a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural
Anthropology from the University
Oslin
of Michigan. Established in 1996,
Heartland CARES is a nonprofit
organization providing medical, pharmacy, mental
health, nutrition, housing and case management services annually to nearly 400 people living with HIV
and AIDS and their families.
Murray State University Names Executive
Director of Development
Murray State University has
named Tina Bernot as Executive
Director of Development. She will
lead MSU’s Office of Development,
which facilitates all aspects of corporate, foundation and individual
major and annual giving on behalf
of the university.
She has a bachelor’s degree in
business management from EdgeBernot
wood College in Wisconsin and a
master’s degree in organizational
management from MSU.

Ribbon Cuttings
Brandi Bone, owner of Soirees Event Center, celebrated the grand
opening of this new facility at 2069 Irvin Cobb Drive. The event center
provides an elegant space for receptions, corporate events, community galas, birthdays, reunions, and offers a full kitchen, in house catering options, and a spacious dance floor. Soirees also offers event

adjacent to JP’s Bar & Grill, recently opened. In addition to seating areas and
landscaping, the park features metal art panels, fiber art banners, glazed ceramic art tiles, and a sculpture, “Fluid Progress.” Paducah Main Street received
a Creative Placemaking grant from the Paducah Board of Realtors to assist with
the cost of the art pieces. Culver’s is coming to Paducah! Julie Cassity, owner, celebrates the official
“turning of the soil” with a ground breaking ceremony. Culver’s will be located at 5450 Old Hwy 60 West. The 4310 square foot restaurant will seat 88

Lourdes and Mercy Medical Associates welcomed urologists Dr. Patrick Ellison, Dr. Robert Kupper and Physician Assistant Brian Johnston.

Lourdes as vice president of mission integration, Kentucky Region. She holds a Master of Pastoral Ministry with Distinction
from Boston College in Chesnut
Hill, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Lourdes Foundation recently received a $144,290
grant from the Carson-Myre Charitable Foundation. This grant assists Lourdes Hospice and Palliative Care by funding a spiritual care counselor
at Lourdes Hospital and a hospice counselor at the
Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
