Historical Background
At 1451 on 12 September Task Force Lovelady crossed the German border and a few minutes later was in the town of
Rötgen, Germany. Rötgen was the first German town to fall to the Allies in World War II. A little further on the road
toward Monschau, are Simmerath and Lammersdorf. Lammersdorf, like Rötgen, where not defended by the Westwall,
but Simmerath and the Kaltalsperre were!
The obstacles represent dragon's teeth which the online game does not YET recognize!
The plan for breaching the Siegfried Line or "Westwall" was simple yet perhaps not the best. The infantry, supported
by direct tank fire, would move through the dragons' teeth (Full of barbed as anti-personnel defense) and secure the
high ground beyond. Next, the engineers would breach the obstacle line with demolitions and the tanks would follow
through. Perhaps you will have less losses if you send the engineers first?
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest will be history.
