www.bmtdsl.co.uk Caimen®-60 Adaptable Landing Craft Medium (LCM) Providing a flexible asset for the rapid movement and amphibious delivery of vehicles, equipment and troops from a host ship to the shore and vice versa, the Caimen®-60 offers a customisable solution for amphibious manoeuvre. The Caimen®-60 is a deliberately robust, low complexity and affordable design that adopts the best of the proven technology of current LCM designs alongside the revolutionary BMT tri-bow hullform. The Caimen®-60 sits at the leading edge of the performance envelope for a landing craft of its size. Key features and benefits include: •Simple design ensures a flexible and enduring capability; •Strict attention to detail and structural continuity facilitates durability and robustness; •Excellent damaged stability characteristics afforded through stringent watertight subdivision; •Capable of transporting a wide range of payloads; •Designed to interface with most well dock equipped ships, and can be tailored to be deployed via crane from ships without a well dock. Design: Caimen®-60 Payloads In its current configuration the Caimen®-60 travels at 18 knots fully laden (carrying a 60 tonne battle tank). The Caimen®-60’s power and propulsion system can be tailored to deliver the right speed and range performance for the client’s operational need, ensuring the most cost effective and appropriate solution. The range of transportable payloads includes: •100 troops; or •1 x M60/Leopard tank or similar; or •2 x Viking all terrain vehicle; or •2 x UNIMOG; or •5 x Land Rover. Human factors The BMT tri-bow hullform provides excellent seakeeping performance, reducing crew and passenger fatigue. Dedicated seating is provided for 3 crew members, and a separate enclosed seating area exists for vehicle crews. A modular weather-tight external seating module can also be fitted for high speed troop transportation. Survivability In addition to withstanding extensive bottom raking damage, the Caimen®-60 can survive full depth damage to two adjacent compartments. This offers excellent levels of survivability compared to existing LCM designs. Furthermore, the triple propulsion system configuration provides an inherent degree of redundancy.
